Just got a letter in the mail (from the WALT DISNEY TRAVEL Co.) today, the Surf's UP! pool rehab has been extended till early October.

That stinks...
We are at ASMU in September which means our pool will be more crowded with the overflow from ASSP pool. It was suppose to reopen the week before we go in September. I wonder why they had to extend the rehab?

Boo! I must have really bad luck. Last year we stayed at ASMovies during that refurb and now we have to live through the refurb at Sports (I guess I am not that good at picking resorts). I emailed Guest Services to see if we can switch to another value, but I am not holding my breath.

The refurb last year at ASMovies was noisy and an eyesore. Worse than the pool refurb was the refurb of the giant Woody and Buzz statues. I requested a room in that area and I did get one -- but they neglected to tell me that they would be using sandblasters there! Eeeks.

I hope the refurb at ASSpo is just the pool.

My son has a Little League tournament there Labor Day weekend. I had already booked us in POFQ so we're not staying there but lots of baseball teams will be stayng there and will want to swim everday. it seems no time is a good time for a pool rehab.

No they are doing the rooms as well. So I would expect the entire place.

I though when they were doing a building they would close the entire building.

didn't sound like that is what happened to you.

My husband just got off the phone with Disney. We asked to switch our Sept 28-30 weekend getaway from Sports to Music due to the refurbishment as long as we could keep our FL Resident rate of $64/night. This was accomodated without a problem. Husband said the CM he spoke with was very friendly and helpful. :thumbsup2

How nice you got to switch! I want to switch but they tell me there are no rooms available. I wonder if it is just that there are no "free dining" rooms or if the resorts are actually full. I've called on 2 occasions. We are there for 6 nights and only have 2 days planned in the parks the rest are supposed to be pool days!

well if homerun is full and wild with kids.

the music and movie are not far at all - just a short walk. You can use the pools at all - All Star hotels.

I just called Disney and the lady informed me that all star sports is already done. I hope that's right!

I am trying to see if I can switch mine too. Mine's booked thru Dreams Unlimited for the first week in Sept. I had had mine for the AAA price of $64 and hope too to get the same rate elsewhere. If she writes back and asks where, I'm gonna tell her POP. Forgot to do that until after I sent the email. D'OH!

I called and emailed GS and switched to Pop with no problem. My only worry now is that the Pop buses always seems so much more crowded. But it is Disney! Woo hoo! :cool1:

I got an email back and she said that all the values were booked for the week of my vacation. Guess I'll have to "pool-hop" to the other All Stars if the Sports' pool is too crowded....

DarthKTrava -- call central reservations and asked to be transferred to Guest Services. That is what I did and had no problem switching resorts.

Good luck!

Hmmmm, I'm thinking if HR is crowded, the ASMu pools will likely be crowded, too. There's no way for a large main pool to be taken out of service without the overflow running to the neighboring pools (pun intended) - especially if the resorts are at or near capacity or at peak hours.
