Okay I got myself waaaaay too stressed out today planning and thinking about this trip. It's supposed to be fun right? I felt sick for most of the day after reading this site. Posts about what to do, what not to do, how much to spend, where to eat, make PS, get ID #'s. That's it. I can't take it anymore. I need to slow down and breathe.

We'll have fun no matter what right? It's the company and the experience not that I could only get the 5:00 PS for HDDR instead of the 7:15 or that I didn't make a PS at all and we'll go somewhere else for dinner. I think I was taking this all way too seriously and I need to remember it's fun.

Whew glad I got that off my chest.

Thanks for listening.

Princess, take deep breaths! You will have a great time. This board can be very overwhelming at first. You've got a couple of months before you go. By that time you will feel like you've been around the DIS forever!

You WILL have a great time on your trip whether you like it or not! :grouphug:

I agree. I think you will have a great time too. Just remember that a lot of the things posted on the DIS are individual's personal preferences. Just because I like a certain ride or show or I like to make a PS for a certain time doesn't mean that that will work for everyone. Just read the information and take note of what interests you specifically and you will do just fine. This site has plenty of valuable information for planning a great trip but when it gets overwhelming just try to remember that your perfect trip may not be the same as someone else's perfect trip.

I laugh NOT at your stress, but because I've been there! Planning can make you a little crazy. But never fear, the first step to any recovery is to admit you have a problem! :rotfl: Plan a little, but don't let it stress you out. Your vacation WILL be fun! Have a great trip!
And feel free to vent her anytime. That's one of the reasons we're here. :grouphug:

Is this your first trip? If so, go without any plans. Stumble from ride to ride, take it all in. Park hop or not, make reservations or not, enjoy the experience as I did the first time. YOU'LL HAVE A GOOD TIME!! After you get home, come back here. Reflect on your experience and you'll realize that with a little planning, you'll get much more out of your next trip, and better yet, you'll actually enjoy the planning stage. My next trip is more than a year away, but the planning keeps me in 'The World'. This keeps my last trip fresh and gives promise for what is to come. Disney isn't a job, it's an experience. Enjoy!

What Bill said! ::yes::

For your first trip, just go - you'll have a great time regardless of what you do or don't do. Then, when you're sad and depressed because you miss WDW so much, come back here and spend your time planning your next trip, not because you really need to plan that much, but because it passes the time until your next trip!

Disney isn't a job, it's an experience. Enjoy!

Ditto. Don't overplan your trip. Let some things be spontaneous. You'll have much more fun that way.

Im with you there princess aurora. This is our first trip and I come away from these boards sometimes with a headache. :)

*Too...much...information. Head...hurting. Head...going...to...'splode!*

Think of this board as your phone book. When you need something, you look up a specific number and get your information. You don't try to call every person listed just because you have their number. This board is the same way - minute information on every conceivable topic, but completely overwhelming if taken all at once. Relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy your trip - it will be marvelous even if you don't make any plans (but do make a hotel reservation - I don't think you can just show up and have a room guaranteed!)

Breathe in..... Exhale.... Breathe in.... Exhale!!!!

We feel your planning pain!!! LOL!!!!! ;)

Realize that there is a LOT to Disney, and to these boards... And, if you've never been, it's all new, and well, yes, at first, overwhelming!!! :earseek:

I mean, it is like starting anything new... It is so easy to just feel completely overwhelmed... Like, an expectant mother. It would easy to go nuts trying to thouroughly examine every little action, every ongoing 'theory'. That's just natural. But, like a new mother, There soon comes a time when everything just 'clicks' and you learn to pick up on what is most important to you... And soon, you will feel like a 'veteran'. I PROMISE!!!!

Don't let your yourself stress... Just have a good time on the DIS here, in moderation. ( Ohhhh, what the heck, we're all comfirmed DISaholics!!!! )

You will find out the few major points needed to avoid pitfalls and have a wonderful magical trip!!!! Like, for me, one of the things I am working on is a kind of Touring Plan Guideline for the Magic Kingdom. And, boy, I feel like the research is really going to pay off!!!

Keep DISing and Happy Planning!

Everyone's given great advice. Just one more thing to keep in mind. Some people are natural planners. **ahem - me** It relaxes us to have stuff planned out like this, and it's fun, too. If you are not this type, don't do it. Just enjoy your trip. :)

princess aurora, even with all of the relentless planning I am doing we are still going to keep it (as the The Grinch/Jim carrey would say) kinda "loosey goosey". :) It would ruin the trip for us to have a rigid schedule. I just do all the planning I do to simply make sure I dont forget anything. I also want to make sure that if there is something here that OP think we need to see or do then I want to know about it. :) I use these boards mainly to keep well informed.

Hallelujah. :)

Step away from the computer.... proceed directly into the kitchen to make some mouse ear shaped waffles...then put you fave disney movie in the dvd player and dont worry about planning anymore. As long as you carry your pixie dust in your heart no disney vacation can ever be bad

Ditto Bill (very well said, BTW)

Our first trip, we read bits & pieces of Birnbaums & just went with the flow. We didn't have PS's for anything, yet managed to have some great meals. We didn't know when & where the shows were and were going to the MK with only the vaguest of memories from my trip there as an 8 year old.....
But, we still had such a great time - we knew we would have to go back.
Like Bill & Kaycee said - I come not so much to plan, but to keep some WDW in my life between trips. I do make PS's now, but blow half of them off anyways.....Relax & Enjoy - that's the whole point.

I'm an "over planner". My family can't stand it! However, as much as I plan for months ahead of time, when I get there, I usually deviate from my plan more than not. This time, I'm committed to going with the flow. I'll plan a little just to know where to start each day, but then its anyone's guess where I end up. I love to plan though and thanks to this board and other Disney sites, I get enjoyment until the big day finally comes and I'm leaving. At that point, I start mentally planning for my next trip. :cool1:

LOL! You sound like me when I started planning! Here's my advice to you.. go buy a planning book, order the planning video from Disney and start making a list of the things that you HAVE to do. Use the Dis for research, and to get some questions answered. It can be very overwhelming. But yes, you'll have fun no matter what. :)

Princess-
Definitely slow down and don't stress.
I've learned from last year. I had my itinerary all printed out last year and guess what.. we barely stuck to it and then Hurricane Charley came!
It's nice to have it all planned out but once you get there it can all change. Even the weather can mess your plans up.
So don't fret---just remember---YOUR GOING TO DISNEY!!!!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

You have all given me such good advice and I feel soooooooo much better :goodvibes

I guess I just took it too seriously and starting fretting I'd forget something or wouldn't plan the right thing. IT's Disney, It's all good !

Thanks again sooo much

Just relax and let the magic find you. You will have a magical trip!
