It's not just DVC members, check out the other boards...

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I am a store manager for the #3 retailer in the country and it has been a rough 2 months. But what has bummed me about all of this is the lack of time for people to change plans. Some people plan for years to go to WDW and get very tired of hearing about continuous cuts. In our business we have been giving discounts and other incentives to get shoppers in. Disney has cut, but I don"t hear any thing about discounts or other compensation to get people down there. It seems to me their attitude is you've already spent your money so when we make cuts so what! I do understand business and by making continuous cuts you are fostering a vicious cycle.

Ok, on a different subject, Granny is a GUY????

Yep, I'm a guy (to the relief of my DW ;) ).

loribell...you have it correct.....it's a nickname I've had forever and is a derivative of my last name.

On the other hand, maybe it's good to have people on this board think of me as some "mature" lady with alzheimers....some of my responses would lead that to be a believable assumption!

I can see where some people would get upset about cutbacks because of the money they put out to go to WDW. As a DVC member our lodging is paid for and we will be going back for years to come so it is not as bad.
That said, at the present time I would be happy to be able to go to WDW just to be with those I care for. Where I live, my post office is still closed because of anthrax contamination, and there are still services being held for those who were lost on 9/11. Their survivors vacations will never be the same again. My sister and BIL were to go to OKW last month, but he has been on active duty since 9/11, and has no idea when he will be released. I feel that everything is relative.

Some recent visitors have run into big crowds and have questioned the validity of WDW cutbacks and whether they are necessary.

I just saw this blurb on my news updater this morning:

"Florida hotel occupancy statewide is down about 40% from a year ago, according to Visit Florida, the state's tourism marketing agency. Attractions are reporting about a 20% drop in attendance. Officials blame the declines in large part on the plunge in air travel since September's fatal hijackings, says the Orlando Sentinel (11/5). State and local tourism officials are trying to offset the drop in air travel by promoting the area to tourists who live close enough to drive."

I think Disney is doing what they need to do in order to maintain the long term viability of WDW. IMHO, the cutbacks will be restored when people return to flying and the economy turns.

Each individual is free to cancel, or not cancel, any trip for whatever reason they want. (duh. ;) )

But if cancelling EE and/or Enights is enough to cause somebody to cancel, they were pretty close to the edge anyway.

Most of us maybe close to the edge, but its the edge on the OTHER side...

:D

LOL, raidermatt....

That's the problem with double edge swords! :D
