Its nice to know I'm so dumb! Itunes help please!

I'm clueless - well almost - I bought & downloaded 2 songs - they show up when I log into Itunes/ I haven't been able to get them onto the Ipod. so I googled directions since the stupid thing doesn't come with a manual & I watched the expert village tutorials. SOOO I know Im supposed to be able to drag the song over the the device - but when I drag it I see a "no" sign along with the name of the song. I don't get what I'm doing wrong?

And I thought this would be user friendly! Guess not the dumb users!

Make sure you check mark the little box next to the song then drag it over.

I'm with you. I have NO clue how to do itunes. Every time I need something, I ask my 11 yo daughter!

Find the song in your "music" file, rather than your "purchased" file. You should be able to drag it from there onto your iPod.

I use a lot of complex computer programs at work, and itunes baffles me time and time again. It is NOT user friendly!

Glad to know I'm not QUITE as dumb as I thought then!

I managed to get 6 songs downloaded - don't have a clue how I did it - I know I never could get the dragging thing down - maybe I was trying in the purchase screen - will go back & try again as you suggested

I know I ended up seeing the ipod big onthe screen & clicking the tab for music & there it gave me the option of the artists I'd purchased & I checked them & hit apply (I think)

But I thought it was all supposed to be done automatically for ya?

All the songs were checked on the list of songs - including songs that have been on the computer for years & snippets of music from PBS kids so I deleted those.

YOu'd think there'd be an easier way...

iTunes is not user friendly, but a very easy program to use once you get to understand it.

To try and help you download music onto your iPod, its real easy.

Open iTunes
In the left column under Library, click on Music. This will display all the music in your library.
Check the boxes of all the songs you want to put onto your iPod.
Now going back to the left column, under Devices, click on your iPod.
In the bottom right corner, you will see Sync. Click on Sync and it will add all the music you just checked.

Ok when I open Itunes it opens up into my music library showing the covers of all the albums with the song underneath. Here there is not a checkbox.

and it does not give me the device choice - I've seen it on there before - but it doesn't come up when I'm in library

The device should show up on the left under itunes store and purchases. Your device must be plugged in for it to show.

You can change the view so you can see lists instead of album covers up on the upper right. Click on the album cover to 'enter' it and you will see a pic of the album and a list of songs on the album. Make sure they're check marked then drag it over to your device.
