But it's more important to be nice.

I saw this sign at the front desk of my DD's dermatologist yesterday. I thought it was funny, cause the lady at the desk wasn't really all that nice! She never is.

I really liked the sign though!!

My former GP's office had a huge poster that hung in the lobby. It said something about it being the mission of every single person in the office to use creativity, kindness and common sense to solve patient problems and promote positive outcomes. It was signed by all the doctors and the office staff.

It was the most mismanaged office ever. They had an automated phone system that guaranteed all patients would have high blood pressure. They would routinely put you on hold for 40 minutes, at which point you'd get disconnected. They started booking children's physicals in a way that made it absolutely impossible to get an appointment in the summer.

One day dh spent over an hour and a half on the phone trying to make a physical appt for dd in vain, and he got so disgusted that he went to the office in person. He went up to the receptionist and pointed to the poster on the wall. He asked, "Could one of the people who signed this poster come out and use some creativity and common sense to actually let me make an appointment?"

Needless to say, it didn't happen and we switched doctors.

Oh that's awesome!!! I sometimes wish I had the courage to speak up for myself like that.

I've never had experiences like you listed though. Thankfully! I just thought it was funny there was this huge sign above her desk, and she wasn't nice!! Not mean, just not nice. KWIM?

It is a nice saying...and it's meant for the patients. Isn't it funny how people we would think need to "happy-up" think we need the same thing?
She's tired of us annoying patients feeling all special n' stuff...like our problems merit concern and care. How annoying! (Insert sarcasm here).

You mean that sign was meant for me!? I had no idea!! LOL. Here I thought it was an office motto or something! I guess it's a good thing I was nice to her.
