What are the chances we were to magically have connecting rooms right next to each other? I may just leave that door open. :rotfl2:

Perfect plan!!!! But here's the most important question...
Will you share your Zebra Domes with me????

Wife got a pin code email yesterday, and was able to save 25% on our AKL Club stay in April. We had to move our stay one day later to have it all within the discount period, but its saving us over $900 for the week. We were assuming we'd get a discount, but very happy to have it happen. Woo hoo!

That is a wonderful stroke of pixie dust! Congratulations!

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge introduces new nighttime safari tour

Oct 09, 2012 | 9:58am EDT

"Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has introduced a new nighttime safari tour on the Sunset Savanna exclusively for guests of the Lodge.

Taking place after dark, the hour long tour takes guests through the savanna for a close-up look at the animals. Night vision goggles add to the excitement.

The cost is $70 per guest for ages 8 and up. There is a 10 guest maximum, with tours taking place Wednesday and Saturdays at 10pm."

That sounds so cool! I wish they had it when we were there last month!

Hmm, it does sound like you go in a safari truck. Hopefully we will start getting reports soon!

....I just noticed the time - I guess you'll probably get snacks and drinks/bottled water(?) :confused3

We have our first AKL stay in 54 days. We needed to use up some DVC points. Right now we aren't planning on doing any parks, just explore the Christmas decor at all the resorts and eat...oh and eat lol

I would imagine that it is the same truck for the Wanyama Safari. It's HA and can fit about a dozen people.

Hello all...jumping in to this thread....

Plans are BC with the whole family for a week, and AKL for the kids and I for a week in June (DH can only take a week vacation and I teach high school).

Right now, I've booked an Arusha view...is that good? I seriously don't know :confused3 and all the view stuff confused me. The CM on the phone said the Arusha view rooms would be like in the center of the "horseshoe" shape...is that right?

eta: What specific room requests should I add to my reservation with this kind of view?

Yes, Arusha is the main savannah at Jambo House in the center of the horseshoe. It's a very beautiful view, you can't go wrong with it. The only requests I'd think to make would be close to the lobby or close to an elevator if that's important. You could also request a certain floor. Lower ones give a more intimate view of the animals, higher ones help you see more area. You can't go wrong either way. I tend to not make requests and just see where they put me.

Speaking of the special safaris, if we wanted to do the Sunrise Safari, do we need to book in advance or can we book that week? Specifically we wouldn't want to book and then have a bad weather day. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

....you can, but it depends upon what time of year you are going....it may be all filled by the time you get there and book it on-site....:confused3

Oh my, the resorts are so gorgeous at Christmas. Definitely make sure you check out the Grand Floridian. The decorations are amazing and they have a giant gingerbread house that they sell gingerbread cookies out of. Most of the deluxes are done up so beautifully. The Polynesian wasn't as grand but it suited the resort. The Beach Club has a chocolate carousel. Everything is so beautiful :)

I would book in advance, it tends to be very popular. The only thing bad weather would harm would be the walk to the safari and then the walk to breakfast afterwards. I don't remember the cancellation policy but you could always monitor the weather when you get there and then cancel if its calling for bad weather that day.
