It's My Birthday & I'll Disney if I Wanna! ~ A Dec 2015 PTR - COMPLETE!

Will you be going to the Beach Club Resort. They have a beautiful Gingerbread Carousal at Christmas. If you have a chance I would recommend trying to go there. If you are at Epcot you might want to pop over since it is so close.

2-3 times?! Dang! This will be brand new to me, and I'm really looking forward to it.

To be fair it is on the list 2 to 3 days, because those are the times we might be able to fit it one of those days. They are all our not quite sure what we're doing yet days. For instance arrival day, depending on how the minions are after arrival and how tired everyone is, means either yes Disney Springs or stay at the resort. Our first Friday after Animal Kingdom, again depends on how tired everyone is. The Saturday that the rest of our party is suppose to arrive, depends on when they all show up.

I can't wait to hear all about your morning at kona! That tonga toast picture is making me think about our one and only morning there......

So I don't have much experience with motion sickness, but I can tell you that our oldest got really seasick a couple of nights on our cruise. We got her some of those seabands and they worked really well for her. She might want to consider getting some of those if there's something she really wants to do.

OK, I'm finally all caught up!

I'm a new poster to the boards, but definitely have been lurking for the past year or so :)

I loved your dining report and TR from your last solo trip, and it's been awesome reading about your December one!

We are going December 14-17 and I can't wait!! It was very last-minute, so not really worthy of a PTR, but we're planning a May trip with my mom that I'm considering starting one for - just have to actually write my TR from our last trip first :P It's my first one, and I don't want to get too caught up in stuff that I don't finish!

Can't wait to hear about the trip (so close!) :D :D

Hooray! :welcome: Thanks for the tips on Spaceship Earth and Nemo. I'm really hoping that she does well on both of those, because I reallllllly want her to be able to do SOARIN'! But if she has problems on SE or Nemo, I know there's just no way she'll be able to handle Soarin'. Fingers crossed! :goodvibes

Lots of people have already answered, but I think Soarin' is doable! Like someone said, just tell her to close her eyes if she needs to. The part with L.A. traffic totally makes me dizzy so I close my eyes sometimes! Maybe try to get third row? Yeah, it means people's feet are dangling above you, but I think it helps that it's not as high? I have no proof, but that's my highly (non) scientific "theory." :rotfl2:Or just go for any/the top row and hope for the best! :thumbsup2 I hope she can ride it - everyone deserves to experience the wonder that is Soarin'!

I like your Kona breakfast plans! I'm trying it for the first time this December too and I want to order everything (Tonga Toast, the Samoan, and the Macadamia-Pineapple Pancakes...yum!), but I'm gonna have to limit myself - especially if I order the $8 Kona coffee :scared:. I'm going with my mom so I hope I can convince her to order one of the things I want so at least I can try two things. ::yes:: But as they say:

This looks so yummy. I have never tried Kona for breakfast but I make tonga toast at home and love it. It is easy to make and so good. I can understand you wanting both.
Doesn't it look goooood? I gotta try them BOTH!!! :goodvibes

Yaaaasss! We won't be going that way on this trip, but I know the carousel that you speak of. I say it during my birthday trip in 2009. It's so pretty!!! :cutie:

Ohhhhh, very smart! :thumbsup2

yum! You're making me hungry!!! Yeah for a rest day, I haven't had a rest day at Disney in I think ever? Is that possible? 2017 long trip with at least one rest day!
Rest days at Disney are VERY underrated. You should try it sometime! :goodvibes

This is going on my Facebook!!!! And probably in my other thread, too!

I'm thinking of buying a set and bringing them and making her put them on whether she wants to or not.

Hooray! :welcome: Thanks for coming out of the shadows!

YAY! I'm really glad you enjoyed my reports! I hope this one will keep your entertained, too! :P

Hey, I did a PTR earlier this year for my April trip, and I booked that trip with less than a month's notice. LOL. It's never too late! ::yes::

Can't wait to hear about the trip (so close!) :D :D
I can't wait to be able to tell you all about it! :hyper:

We had our first ever visit to Ghirardelli this past August. That hot fudge sundae was to die for. :lovestruc
Isn't it just dreamy??? :cloud9:

Hahaha, this is one of my favorite gifs. I love Donna! :rotfl:

There's seriously actual cotton candy in this drink??? Wow...sounds amazing! But...doesn't it just melt into....sugar??
Kinda, yeah. Did you watch the video? It definitely melts down fast. But I bet it's still delicious!!! :bitelip:

I'm totally late to the Princess Party but TIARA!!!
154867_1682929122785_4519854_n.jpg

I've been too busy reading all the October TRs that I completely forgot about this one. I can't believe it's getting so close! And I'm so jealous that you get to see the Lights one more time :(

I'm sure your aunt & uncle will have a blast!

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm definitely thinking about starting that PTR - since I realized we are a mere 30 days from ADR day and I know nothing about what we want to do!! We need to start planning!

Somewhat off-topic, but I am curious - do you do your posts in a word document or something and then upload them to the threads? I've been typing mine directly into the thread, and it's a little cumbersome - plus, you have to make sure you finish the whole post at once! I figured there must be a better way :/

Love the plans as usual! Bonine. I give that to my kids for car sickness!

My Uncle Mark is a car and motorcycle enthusiast, so I figure that we'll probably wind up here, too...

YOU MUST GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN!
I adore this place for the fun motorcycle pictures!

Yaaaaay! Welcome, princess! princess:

I've been too busy reading all the October TRs that I completely forgot about this one.
It's okay! I'm the WORST at keeping up with all the TRs and PTRs that I follow! I try, but then adulting and life and stuff happens, and sometimes it's all that I can do to keep up with my own threads! :scared:

I can't believe it's getting so close! And I'm so jealous that you get to see the Lights one more time :(
I'm sooooo glad that I decided to do a birthday trip this year. I prefer traveling in the Fall, but every few years I like to do a December trip for my b-day. So when I heard about this being the last year for the Lights, I felt very fortunate to be seeing them one final time! :goodvibes

I'm sure your aunt & uncle will have a blast!
I sure hope so!!! This trip has been a long time coming!!! :-)

I'm definitely thinking about starting that PTR - since I realized we are a mere 30 days from ADR day and I know nothing about what we want to do!! We need to start planning!
Say whaaat! That's plenty of time to do a PTR, for sure! And a PTR is the perfect place for laying out all your ADR thoughts and ideas! :thumbsup2

I just type mine directly into the text editor here on the DIS, I've learned to manipulate it pretty well. I know a LOT of people do use Word for writing up longer posts. I think it just comes down to whatever you're most comfortable with! ::yes::

Love the plans as usual! Bonine. I give that to my kids for car sickness!
I keep hearing good things about Bonine! She refuses to take anything internally, though. Insists that ANYTHING she takes will knock her out. I'm very seriously considering the Sea-Bands that Lori recommended. I might just buy them myself and force them onto her wrists once we're there!

YOU MUST GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN!
I adore this place for the fun motorcycle pictures!
Girl, you know I ain't afraid of silly pictures! (Swinging my leg over a motorcycle without killing myself, however...) :rotfl:

Maybe your aunt will consider going on Soarin' for me as a favour? I heard it is going to be under refurb when I am there in the spring. At least that will make choosing FP easier, lol!
If she won't, I totally will! Uncle Mark and I are soarin' even if I can't convince her to join us! :hyper:

Day 4 sounds pretty darn perfect to me (shopping aside, but i know I'm an oddity on that one). Besides one of my fav Disney dishes of all time (hello Samoan I'm lookin' at you), but a monorail crawl on top of that----Bliss. Ya know the only thing better than day drinking is day drinking at Disney ; ) And start at Kona while you're at it. Love their bloody mary, which is of course affectionately known as the bloody Kari in my book

Ok, I am so super far behind but I'm catching it all up tonight. Fall/winter colds have been spaced out just far enough in this house to ensure that little sleep has been had all week. But we're on the mend now so I can get back on track! Just so I can keep my comment organized, I'm going to reply to a day at a time. but please don't feel like you have to go back and comment on my ramblings!

We'll be struttin' through the gates and scootin' through an empty park to our 8:30am ADR at...

Akershus-Sign.jpg

To have breakfast with these lovely ladies...

01398d9bc97b8369d2c8a4f8655e9013.jpg

So jealous! I'm DYING to do a princess meal. Part of me just wants to book Akershus for May and let the boys deal with the princess overload. This will be so much fun!

However, I've stuck with it this time for a few reasons: (1) I'm much braver when I'm not alone, so since I'll have companions on this trip, I figured it was now or never. (2) I thought this would be a VERY cool first character meal for my Aunt Debby! So now I'm actually really excited about doing this, instead of really nervous! :cutie:

This is why I would have a hard time doing a character meal on my solo trip. The boys provide a nice buffer for character interaction. I think your aunt (and uncle!) will LOVE this! I've read great reviews about the breakfast!

Because one of my greatest pleasures in bringing newbies to Epcot is watching their faces when they try the Beverly. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

It's a good thing you planned this whole trip and have lots of protective pixie dust stored up!

Then we'll wander over to the Streets of America so I can get my last, and Mark & Debby's first, viewing of...

osbournlights.jpg

Sigh. I look at the pictures and still have a hard time believing that we'll be there in 5 weeks!

I'm probably going to be a PIGGY and order two entrees. Because vacation.

toast.jpg

TONGA TOAST! And...

I think I may shed a tear when I finally try this next year. I drool over this picture each time I see it! Can't wait to read your review!

THE SOMOAN!!! I'm starving now just looking at these pictures again

Yum, AGAIN! Is this some kind of hash smothered in eggs and cheese? It looks heavenly! I think getting both is really the only logical choice. Salty and sweet, right?

So instead, I'm going to spend my time day-drinking my way through my first-ever Monorail Crawl. :drinking1 And of course, just spending a little chill time at each of the three resorts.

This sounds like a perfect way to spend your rest day! Trader Sams?

To hit up our dinner ADR, a first for me, here at...

t-rex-cafe.jpg

Yay! I'm excited for this too! What room are you hoping to sit in? I've heard to request NOT to sit in the ice cave. But I think the ocean room looks like fun!

I'm guessing sometime between 9-10pm, we'll be boarding our bus back to AoA for the night, and hopefully feeling recharged and ready for our next big park day, which starts bright and early the next morning!

A rest day in the middle of your trip is necessary to not be totally burned out at the end! It sounds like a great way to recharge!

Day 4 sounds pretty darn perfect to me (shopping aside, but i know I'm an oddity on that one). Besides one of my fav Disney dishes of all time (hello Samoan I'm lookin' at you),
If you like the Samoan that much, it MUST be good! Yum! :cutie:

but a monorail crawl on top of that----Bliss. Ya know the only thing better than day drinking is day drinking at Disney ; ) And start at Kona while you're at it. Love their bloody mary, which is of course affectionately known as the bloody Kari in my book
While I am a fan of day drinking, I'm not a fan of a bloody mary. Because I'm an overgrown toddler, vegetables are still yucky to me. :crazy2: However, a mimosa or a fruity cocktail... yes, please! :drinking1

Ok, I am so super far behind but I'm catching it all up tonight. Fall/winter colds have been spaced out just far enough in this house to ensure that little sleep has been had all week. I'm praaaaaying I either get sick NOW, or not at all. I'm so scared I'm going to come down with something right before the trip! :scared:

So jealous! I'm DYING to do a princess meal. Part of me just wants to book Akershus for May and let the boys deal with the princess overload. This will be so much fun!
They'll be fine, they'll just try to squeeze the girl's noses. :P

This is why I would have a hard time doing a character meal on my solo trip. The boys provide a nice buffer for character interaction. I think your aunt (and uncle!) will LOVE this! I've read great reviews about the breakfast!
It's only the face characters that give me pause. On my solo trips, I love doing character meals with Mickey and friends, etc. No pressure to converse with them. Just big hugs and smiles and pictures are good enough for them. :goodvibes

A rest day in the middle of your trip is necessary to not be totally burned out at the end! It sounds like a great way to recharge!
When I was younger, I didn't need it. I didn't need mid-day breaks back then, either. But I'm getting old and slowwww. Naps have become essential! :faint:

It's a good thing you planned this whole trip and have lots of protective pixie dust stored up!
Sounds like I'm gonna need it, huh? :rotfl: :stir:

Sigh. I look at the pictures and still have a hard time believing that we'll be there in 5 weeks!
6 weeks for meeeeeee! :hyper:

I think I may shed a tear when I finally try this next year. I drool over this picture each time I see it! Can't wait to read your review!
I can't wait to be able to review it! YUM! :bitelip:

Yum, AGAIN! Is this some kind of hash smothered in eggs and cheese? It looks heavenly! I think getting both is really the only logical choice. Salty and sweet, right?
From Disney's website... "Poached Eggs with Hollandaise served over Smoked Pulled Pork Hash." :cloud9:

This sounds like a perfect way to spend your rest day! Trader Sams?
Yes! I was just looking at the Trader Sam's drink menu this morning and trying to decide what to get, and if I'm going to splurge on something in souvenir glass or not. (The answer? Probably. :thumbsup2 )

Yay! I'm excited for this too! What room are you hoping to sit in? I've heard to request NOT to sit in the ice cave. But I think the ocean room looks like fun!
Reeeeally? I had heard that the ice cave is the best! What have people said against it? Apparently I could use some more advice on this one! :confused3
