I do hope you complete this trip report, as I am really enjoying this read. You and your mom are "hot chicks" and your furbaby is adorable!

Personally, I really enjoy the planning stages of the trip. Nothing like changing your ADR's 6 times before you leave, eh?

Thanks for joining me! I'm enjoying writing this TR more than previous ones so that is a positive start. The problem is in the pre-planning stages, I sometimes feel like I don't have much to say. But I guess if I feel like blogging about my upcoming trip, I'll just post it here

I am enjoying your pre trip report We are going again in Mid June with the 3 kids. I would love to live in Florida and be only 3 hours away.

My parents live in South Florida now(Coconut creek)and they are not the Disney lovers I am. I honestly do not know where or whom I got it from. Lucky for my kids though, I do have the Disney lover in me, and in turn they get to benefit from it

WOW...that is a small world They have only been down there for a little over 4 yrs. They have retired down there from the Chicago area. They live in Wyndmore(Ok, I think I spelled that wrong), the over 55 community
We are going to Disney in June, but going to stay with them for 2 days before we head to Disney.We cant convince them to come with us

I know it is huge. My kids think its just one hotel after another in there. They think their grandparents live in a hotel LOL..

Thursday March 22, 2007:

Planning update: Phoebe has been booked at her hotel and is all set and ready to go. She’s so excited she already got out her suitcase. J/K She doesn’t have a suitcase, but she does know what it means when she sees me or my mom with a suitcase….ROAD TRIP!

So if you read back a few pages you would see that I booked POR, our birthday resort of choice, on March 7. Note the date of this installment is March 22. I still have not received my confirmation by mail in that beautiful blue and white envelope that tells my mailman that they are going to Disney again?!?!

You know...this envelope:

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have always received the Envelope of Magic within a week of making the ressie, sometimes within 5 days of doing so. So I was starting to freak when I realized it had been 2 weeks since I made the reservation.

Remember Slow McSlowsky, the helpful, yet slow, CM who took my reservation? I had no doubts in my mind that he was capable of losing the whole thing and me having to start over.

So I whip out the cell phone, grab the official Disney planning notebook (i.e. many scraps of paper), and dial Heaven. I mean Disney Reservations. After pre-selling my first born and giving a pint of blood, they finally let me talk to someone. And this someone clearly forgot to take her Pixie Dust Pill this morning.

Me: Hi, I already have a reservation, but I have not received any confirmation by mail yet. I just wanted to check and make sure everything was still in the system.
Her: Well did you check online?
Me (in my head): Since when do I have to check it online. And even if it was there, I still want the freakin’ by mail confirmation because I like to see the Envelope of Magic! It is tangible evidence that a Disney trip is coming!
Me: No I did not.
Her: Ma’am (I’m 26 lady, not a ma’am) I can’t hear you. Did you say you did or did not check online?
Me (in my head): Good grief, what does it matter. Just pull up the ressie and send me another one. Geesh.
Me: No I DID NOT check online.
Her: Verify your information.
Me (and I may have said it a little snooty – but she was ticking me off): My name is Shannon and I live here and my phone number is this. Umm, what else do you need?
Her: **while sighing** email address
Me: It’s this@yahoo.com
Her: Your aol account is no longer active?
Me (thinking in my head that Slow McSlowsky said he changed it when I made the ressie) but saying: Well it was that@aol.com but now it is this@yahoo.com. It should have been changed the last time I called.
Her: So what is it?
Me: for the 1000th time it is this@yahoo.com!
Her: Ok I see a trip for Shannon and Mom at POR for 3 nights checking in on June 8. I’ll get another confirmation sent to you. Thank you for calling Disney. Goodbye.
Me: Yeah, thanks. Thanks for nothing Lady.
Well I wasn’t that mean at the end. Not while the call was still connected anyway. Seriously, was I so wrong to want to see the Envelope of Magic that when it was over a week late, I called to have another one sent to me?

So apparently I should be getting another Envelope of Magic in the next few days. We shall see.

Hope that lady got her Pixie Dust Prescription refilled.

P.S. I called to make yet another ressie for another quick weekend trip with a friend in May. Guess who's email addy was still that@aol.com? MINE! I have since had it changed again and I think this time it worked because I actually did get an email.

Well I decided to just check the aol account. See I still do have it, but I NEVER EVER use it. And I don't want Disney to send my stuff there. Since I don't ever check it, I don't want to miss something important, like I don't know, a resort reservation?

Well idiot CM re-sent my 2nd reservation confirmation to the aol account. Seriously?

Apparently, they are only sending out email confirmations now? Not paper versions? I guess that is ok. But I'm gonna miss that envelope.

I got NO magical envelopes on my last trip! And I had 3 different reservations- I thought maybe Disney was just being mean to me!

Checking on the website isn't much help, either- the rooms that I reserved online showed up, but the ones I reserved over the phone never did.

I want a Disney envelope too but as we book direct with Virgin we just get a big red bill, I would so love to get some Disney magic through the post. I totally agree you should get your envelope and the CM should not work for Disney unless she's full of pixie dust Hope it comes soon and they finally change your e-mail address.

Saturday March 24, 2007:

HUGE UPDATE!

Mom and I went to my DNiece and DNephew’s last soccer game of the season today. And also spent some time with DB and DSIL. (Ok, I keep re-reading my posts and it's starting to sound like I can't stand DB or DSIL at all. That is sooooooo not true. At all. Yes they get on my nerves and do wacky things sometimes but I love them to death.)

If I didn’t mention that my DB and DSIL tend to not communicate with one another about some things, then let me do so now. It’s never earth shattering news, but things that I might tell DSIL with the thought in my head that she would then tell DB in everyday conversation. Like how we got a free upgrade for our upcoming cruise. Today, mom brings it up and DB says to DSIL, “hey did you hear about their upgrade?” “Yeah, Shannon told me…4 days ago!” Things like that.

So let’s rewind to the day of that christening. The day that DB told us he and the family would be on their New England adventure over my mom’s birthday and therefore not be able to attend the Disney Birthday Weekend. Remember that? Go back and re-read it if you have to.

Ready? Then let's get back to the TR.

So today, DSIL says this:

DSIL: So, speaking of birthdays, you guys are going to Disney right?
Me: Yep
DSIL: when? First week of June?
Me: no the 9th, mom’s actual birthday
DSIL: Because we aren’t leaving until the 13th of June
Note: this is where Mr. Miscommunication has made himself known yet again
Me: Oh…. (not really sure where she was going with it)

Fast forward to 10 minutes later, after I had a chance to think :

Me: When does DNiece get out of school?
DSIL: June 2
Me: Ok. Would you not want them to go on a trip to Disney right before the New England Adventure?
DSIL: No, I wouldn’t mind at all. DB is working that weekend anyway.

I should mention that we are all in the car and DB has not heard any of this conversation.

Fast Forward to us in the restaurant:

Mom: So, is it ok to take the kids to Disney that weekend?
DB: YES!
Mom: Because if it’s too much, it’s not a big deal. We don’t mind either way.
DB: Mom, anytime you want to take the kids anywhere, it will be a YES!
DSIL: I’ll probably spend most of the weekend packing anyway since DB is working.
Me: Do you want to go to Disney for Grandma’s Birthday?
DNiece: YES!
DNephew: I want to go to Disney too!

And so it was that Miss Claire and Mr. Owen joined the cast of the Birthday Weekend!
Say hello to my 6 yr old niece and 4 yr old nephew:

I asked Claire what we should do to make Grandma’s birthday extra special. She replies, “well, she’s already going to Disney”. Gotta love that kid.

Is it June yet?
