DH and I went to a wedding yesterday and stayed in a comfort inn that was close to the wedding site. We have been spoiled by Disney. While it was a relativly ok room, DH husband and I just kept saying its not the same. Anyone else feel like that when they stay at other hotels?

We feel the same way. There is no "magic". I think too I miss the theming that each resort has. When you go to other hotels there is no"theme". We are spoiled as well. :)

I have found many other hotels that have a "theme" and that are often superior to Disney hotels - esp considering I paid much less for it! I do enjoy Disney, but also enjoy incredible hotel stays outside of Disney. We have been disappointed by WDW hotels before due to comparing them to others, actually.

You're right in that a Comfort Inn doesn't have much personality =)

Totally agree. We haven't stayed anywhere else since staying at a Disney Resort! The resort is half the fun of the trip for us!! :)

I almost posted a similar thread just last week! DH, DD and I attended a family reunion in Daytona Beach. We stayed at a Best Western, and had an oceanfront room. If you look at the hotel's website, you would think we were in for a lovely time!

WRONG!

The place was , well, skeevy. No one working there seemed happy. The whole time, DH and I would just chuckle and say to each other "This sure ain't Disney!" It was such a disappointment, and made us realize how much we appreciate WDW. I find WDW to be pretty darm consistent and I have yet to have a bad stay there.

The only other hotels I love are the Caribe Hilton in San Juan Puerto Rico, The El San Juan in Puerto Rico, the London Hilton, and the Paris Hilton, I'd stay there and feel content

No - other hotels aren't Disney and I don't expect or want them to be like Disney. That's what I go to Disney for. When I go to New Orleans I love my hotel to have the feel of the French Quarter; when I go to Vegas I enjoy what vegas has to offer - so on and so forth. While I enjoy disney quite a bit I think I would get bored with it if it was like that when ever I traveled.

I don't know what your talking about....there's some beautiful hotels out there! Better than Disney? Yes. Just returned a month ago from LaPlaya in Naples, FL, absolutely wonderful. Also the Portofino Bay Hotel, wonderful. The Bellagio, LV...beautiful (going again in 2 days). Maroma Resort, Mexico....breathtking....I could go on. I am comparing to the Gf and the Poly. Don't get me wrong we love WDW and go every year, but I wold not say they are "the best".

I am spoiled by cold herbal scented towels and having your body misted while on a caribbean beach. Coffee and muffins on your verandah while watching the sunrise, flower petals in a heart shape on your bed, knowing your name when you arrive, a butler to un pack and pack your bags. That's spoiled!

My husband attended a conference in Orlando in April at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes, undoubtedly one of the nicest hotels around. My daughter and I tagged along and visited the parks while he was in meetings all day. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but although we were properly impressed with the hotel (and it was beautiful, don't get me wrong), it was just a hotel--no magic. We all agreed we'd rather stay at the least expensive value resort and be on the property than at a luxury resort off of the property. That driving into Disney every day gets old fast--especially going to the MK. We're suckers for the magic. . .
