DH got word yesterday that they have finally decided to close our plant. He'll have a job for at least the next 35 weeks. Unfortunately, he does IT work and there isn't much in our salary bracket in the Oklahoma City area. We make more than most other companies in our area would pay. So we may have to look at moving to another area or taking a significant cut in pay. There is a chance the company may transfer us to another facility if there is a job opening, but we may not want to go where they need us.
Anyway, we are checking Monster.com and other job search sites while we polish up the resume. I know we may have to tighten up our belt, but in a way it is an exciting time, too. I feel like we have been living with this axe hanging over our head for several years. I have faith that God will help us find the right place for him to work (and possibly for us to live).
Of course, the kids don't want to even think about moving. DS is a freshman in high school and DD is in the 6th grade at the middle school. They can't imagine leaing family and friends.
Anyone know of companies looking for really talented computer geeks? I can't even remember off the top of my head what he does, but he's good at it. LOL!
Do you know of an area that might be a good place to check out? Dallas, Kansas City, St. Louis, & Denver might all be good possibilities. We'd prefer to stay in the general area. My family is in Oklahoma and Kansas and DH's parents live here in Oklahoma. His father is a stroke victim, so they couldn't travel to see us and we feel a need to help out as needed. Besides, I hate to even think about how much stuff we have. A move is going to cost a fortune.
DH has a masters from K State and he is a great trouble shooter. In fact, several consulting firms have been interested in him in the past, but they aren't hiring now.
Just thought maybe someone would know of a company that is searching, so that we might check it out. Thanks in advance.

But if he thinks he would like it, I say "Go for it!" The last time I was in the hospital I had more male nurses than I did female.
IT jobs are going down the tubes because they are being outsourced to other countries.
DH is a nurse and there is definitely a need. Many hospitals are offering large sign-on bonuses, moving costs, etc to lure more nurses in. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough nurses to meet demand.
