It's crazy, but it looks like we're going Spring Break!

and for only one day. But we're visiting colleges for my daughter so my husband figured we had to go. Yes, we've been spring break before, and it was on my list of "not again..." But I've changed my mind and decided to do it anyway. Big trip planned summer of 2016, so this is just something to hold me over for a while. woo-hoo!

We've done Spring Break two years in a row. No, it's not empty, but no, it's not terrible, either! In fact we're going to pop over to California Adventure for one day during Spring Break.

Biggest thing for us will be changing our usual "path." We always start with Peter Pan and fantasyland, then hubby and kids go on space mtn while I grab fast passes for splash mtn. No Peter Pan and no Splash Mtn. But we missed Thunder mtn the last trip because it was closed so that will be a nice treat.

As for DCA, we usually do a nice lunch to get fast passes for world of color. Not sure if we're doing walk up to watch this time. Doing both parks in one day means we won't be doing any long leisurely meals. So many fun things to think about!

You can still take your time. We've done day trips during Spring Break. Of course, in 1 day you won't see everything, but I'm sure you'll still leave feeling satisfied. Have a great time. We're doing a similar trip during our spring break. I'm sure it will be crazy, but that's all part of the fun.

I just saw one another site that Peter Pan is reopening before we go. I was just thinking of maybe starting our day at DCA, then over to DL, but we'll never make it on to Peter Pan if we do that. Oh the agony!

It's so hard to do both parks in one day! That's part of the reason we're only doing CA in Spring Break. We spent two separate days in 2014 at Disneyland Park so it's California Adventure's turn!

I saw March 21 on mouseplanet update. Could be wrong. We'd be going March 31.

With so much down, plus no sit-down meals or evening shows, I think we can do a lot in both parks. No way we'll do everything.

Ah, I see! It says "no sooner than March 21". We will just miss it, no matter what. Thanks for letting me know!

Us too and I swore I wouldn't do Spring Break again. :lmao: I liken it to child birth. LOL!

Now the week between Christmas and New Year's is a different story. I have no desire to return that week. But Spring Break, like child birth, doesn't hold as many awful memories, they have faded. It's still Disneyland, and my husband thinks all of the ride closures will scare people away. Sure honey, whatever you say as long as we get our brief Disney hit.

I am hoping that your husband is sort of right. We are doing Spring Break too this year (week after Easter) and although I know that it will be crowded I am hoping that some people may just wait a bit this year to catch all the 60th Anniversary stuff starting in May. A girl can hope right????

Unfortunately, I think most people are clueless about the 60th and the refurbs/ride closures. I have 2 friends who are taking their families for the first time and when I mentioned those thing they had no idea. But, they are going anyway because kids are out for spring break and they already bought plane tickets, etc. It's going to be crowded! Lucky for us, those same people don't know the little secret called getting there at rope drop!

I was clinging to the idea of lower than average crowds with so many closures and the 60th coming, but, based on the lack of hotel options, I think the crowds are still coming. :)

You are right that THEY don't know to show up for rope drop and so I know that we are going to have a good time! We will just likely escape the parks mid afternoon when the crowds are crushing and hit the hotel pool. Spring Break is definitely not my first choice for time but the kids are out of school and as a miracle would have it there is no dance company commitment for my daughter so spring break it is! We will just zig zag around the crowds best we can :)

That's hilarious! That was me last year and now I've booked a last minute trip for me and my DS during Spring Break! Although last year I was pushing my DD in a wheel chair, so surely this will be less stressful. And thankfully she's well enough this year that she'll be off to Cuba with her school band during Spring Break.

I have actually quoted your childbirth analogy when rationalizing our trip this year!

Trying to book a hotel. Part of the deal was that I would use our credit card points, so I have it narrowed down to ten (!). Hubby wants close, girls will want separate beds, plus we want to make sure we have a parking place. Right now it's between Castle Inn and Desert Palm (so happy they just did a review on the podcast). Leaning toward Castle because of bed situation and fewer points.

Sad news -- just figured out Hungry Bear is closed too. Hubby is going to be so bummed -- favorite ride AND favorite restaurant closed. Looks like we'll be heading over to DCA earlier than I thought. But still keeping my fingers crossed that Peter Pan opens in time.

Did I mention that this is a surprise for my daughters? My 12th grade daughter will be hosting a major fundraising event for her senior project the day before we head down on the final college tour. I'm going to hit her with a "now that you've finished your tea party, what are you going to do next?" She'll know the right answer! My husband thinks I'm a dork.

Dorks, unite! My grade 12 daughter & I are going to DL in November for her Grad present. She wants to run in the Avengers Half marathon and then we'll both run around as dorks in disney dresses -- hers made out or Star Wars material and me in my Mickey mouse material. It's easier when there's two of us!

So now it's looking like Peter Pan is not going to be open. Booo. Totally messing with the routine we've used for the last 20 years!

The question is, do we start at DCA instead? DCA has an early entry the day we're going (we won't be getting early entry), and I'm thinking if we don't head over to Toy Story Mania as quickly as possible, we won't be riding it at all that day. Plus we can grab some Radiator Springs fastpasses, or jump in the single rider line (I actually prefer RS at night). Plus get on to Tower of Terror before heading over to Disneyland for Pirates, Mansion, etc. I figure we can grab Indy passes to catch it some time that day.

I hate not being able to discuss this with my daughters. My husband eventually gets to the "why are we going?" question when the ride closures come up in conversation (he's still trying to get over missing out on Splash Mtn). He knows I have a BIG trip planned for July 2016 for my BIG birthday. And if DD decides to go to college nearby, and scores a scholarship, we'll be down there plenty over the next four years...visiting DD of course.
