Can't believe it, but our Disney wedding was a year ago today! I was in the middle of pictures at the Grand Floridian right now :goodvibes

Just a head's up on the cakes- they can be saved and they taste great! We couldn't believe how good ours tastes a year later! Be sure to take the fondant off. Next, freeze it solid in the freezer (no wrapping or covering). Then, wrap it in cling wrap and then tin foil wrap. We put ours into a big tupperware container, too. I did take some of the frosting off the top that was off color. Remember, when in doubt, throw it out!

Happy planning to all of you still in the process and for those of you married, I hope you're living you're happily ever after!
xoxo

Congrats!! I froze mine the way it is, without taking the fondant off. I hope I havent ruined it.

The problem with me is just what you said "when in doubt, throw it out"...lol... me and DH will be in doubt regaurdless..lol. We get scared when it comes to food...

You shouldn't have! Just remember to take everything off before thawing it. The fondant can be removed at any time prior to eating really. It's not yummy stuff! The buttercream frosting is what we thought was most likely to spoil (fact that there was cream in it).

How did you get your top layers home? (By plane?)

:scared: How did you get your top layers home? (By plane?)

DFTW box's all the extras up in a proportional box. We brought the top home in the box they gave us and just took it on the plane. No big deal.. if you can carry it then just take it on the plane with you.

UndertheMistletoe- congrats on your one year anniversary :goodvibes How exciting! I am also glad to hear your cake was still yummy!

Congrats on the 1 year. Our 1 year was December 7th and we were actually in WDW and were in EPCOT so we could watch illuminations like we did our wedding night. So, that was nice. And the fact that we were in Disney kept me happy and not thinking about the fact that it was not the wedding day and a whole year had gone by. But, have no fear....I still have grand thoughts for the vow renewal.

Have A Magical Day!

Maureen

We also celebrated our 1st anniversary this year, back in September and made the journey back to WDW to be there exactly one year on.
We actually met up with our EM at precisely one year to the minute from our Wedding, at the Pavilion, which was so cool. I did feel sorry for the Bride that arrived while we were there because it was like a monsoon, but a year earlier it had been 97 degrees and sunny !
Oh how the time flies by and it was great fun introdicing our EM to our 3 month old baby, Circle of Life you might say !

Congrats on your 1st year and best wishes to those who have it all yet to come.

Happy Anniversary!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I froze ours the way it was too and I posted awhile back that it was still delicious! I didn't take off the fondant, I just ate the middle of the cake and left the fondant on the plate. It was still moist and yummy!! I think the fondant might have helped preserve it? DH only had one bite, he was nervous about eating year-old frozen cake, but I ate 3 pieces :rolleyes1

UnderTheMistletoe - Happy (belated) 1st Anniversary!!

congrats on 1 year! :goodvibes

We were also 1 year back in September. DH took me to Club 33! :goodvibes

We ate our disney cake...DH thought it tasted old, but I thought it was just fine...ok, so I  cake, especially our wedding cake, but it WAS still pretty darn good...

Congratulations!
Thank you for the advice- wasn't sure what to do with the cake.
