It's been a while and I have some questions

We had plans to go in June of 2020 and we all know what happened that summer so it looks like a lot has changed since I've planned my last trip to Disneyland.

I'm looking at going in September and now that the oogie boogie party dates are published, realize we will be there on one of the nights. We are going to do a 2-day park hopper. Do you think it's better to choose to start at DCA the first day? Since the party is on the second day? We don't plan to go to the party.

I'm also missing the good neighbor hotel super thread. Search is not working well for me. Is this pinned anywhere?

2 adults with no kids going for two days. We are not into the big thrill rides but love a lot of the other rides included with Genie. Do you think it's worth it for only half the rides included?

Finally, am I understanding correctly that there are two rides that you have to pay extra for? Is that to ride the ride all together or is that to "buy" a lightning pass?

Sorry for all the questions at once! And thank you.

If you’re doing Park Hoppers, it probably doesn’t matter where you start since you could just head to DL before the party crowd enters

If you were to go with single park tickets tho, For Oogie Boogie, if you know for sure you’re not doing that, then yes, do the non party day at DCA and party day at DL. If you’ve never done the party tho, it may be worth it to get the 1 day ticket to DL and just do the party at DCA. The ticket allows you to enter the park 3 hours before the party begins and gives you something you won’t usually experience.

Genie+ can be a good value even with half the rides because Photopass is included with G+. And yes, there are a few rides labeled individual Lightning Lane attractions with a cost separate from Genie+. (All of the rides have a standard standby line as well.) In Disneyland, that’s for Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway. In DCA, it’s Spider-Man and Radiator Springs Racers. So 3 of the newest rides plus RSR. I’d recommend rope dropping one and buying the other. The 3 new ones are all flat, not too much thrill, but definitely a lot of fun dark rides.

Edit: Spider Man is not a ILL ride; it’s available with Genie+

The rides that offer the Individual Lightning Lane for a fee (surge pricing) also have standby lines so you can choose to wait standby if you want. You are not required to pay to ride, only to pay to enter the LL.

DCA gets pretty miserable at 3:00 PM on OBB nights due to the mix in. I would plan to avoid being there at that time.

Great info thank you! I don't realize ROR was not a coaster! And I might consider the party after all with your scenario.
