As to the cooking and cleaning, as the other's have said it is optional. We actually like not having housekeeping every day. I really don't have to clean that much. We generally only do breakfast and snacks in the room, so I'm really never bothered with cooking a big meal. We love our DVC rooms. You vacation at WDW much different. Our friends always look at us like we are crazy when we tell them it is our most relaxing vacation. We love it!!

I think we'll be going through Disney directly and hopefully the incentive for $10 off per point will still be in effect, which if what I've been reading is correct, we'll be paying $85 per point. We'll also probably be doing a few shorter trips the first year or two so we'll skip the housekeeping. I like the idea of cooking breakfast and having the option to come back to the room at night to heat up something quick. That should save us a ton of money in the long run. Now, if I could only get in touch with someone at DVC today!!! Ugh!

DH and I bought into SSR while we were on the DCL a couple of weeks ago. The incentives were a big plus for us. We bought 250 points. The incentives were pay down 10% instead of 20% and $85 a point instead of $95. Dh and I had been discussing the DVC for several years. It just seems like a good deal since one of the biggest costs of your trip is the room!

The fact that we can do sandwiches, breakfast , etc will be nice. We went ahead and bought into the SSR because it's the newest DVC resort and Disney transportation is so good that I really don't think it much matters where you stay!

We plan on doing some of the other "non-Disney" resorts as well.
