It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

Thanks everyone!!! It's. Great group of people here on the dis boards. I don't know how or why we won either year. I must say last yr I was diligent about entering just about everyday and kept saying we're gonna win, why not us?? This year I might have gotten 10 days entered w/the problem glitches and my heart wasn't as in it as we had just won. Probably wouldn't have entered at all except for the stay in the Cinderella suite. I think my friend will have a great time, but we won't have to take care of her so she can tag along w/us or not. All we ask is for a couple hours kid sitting on our Cinderella night!;)

I am super happy for you! I can only imagine how disappointing that last year's trip was with your mom behaving badly. Hoping this year's trip is wonderful!

This would be me!!! It is absolutely completely true and 100% shocking to us too. I won under my name last year, but we chose Disneyland since we didn't think we would spend money out of pocket for that trip. We're glad we did that, because we never have to wonder if we should try it instead. We know Disney World is our home away from home.
We're a family of 3 so we took my mom thinking it would be a great time for her to make memories w/our dd. That is how it should've been, but that is not my mother. It was a hard trip, an emotional trip, my mother caused a lot of drama and never sent us a thank-you card or apologized for a panic attack she brought on during our 1st day at the parks. She got "bored in the animators studio so took off out of the bldg on her mobility cart without telling us and then didn't answer her cell phone when we tried to reach her. Well, I was scared to death as my mom normally uses a walker, falls easily, has diabetes, high blood pressure, +++ lots more stuff that could go wrong. On top of that it was 95 degrees outside and we had come from Fargo, ND the day before where it was in the 30's. All I could picture was that she had either fallen or passed out and couldn't get to her phone. It felt like forever, but was literally at least 20 minutes before she comes zipping back in the scooter and didn't understand why I was so upset w/my heart racing, difficulty breathing and uncontrollably crying!! That set the tone for the trip, unfortunately. The saddest part is that, instead of it bringing her closer to her 11 yr old grand daughter, it made my dd wish she had a different Nana...so sad, it brings me to tears now. You can only make excuses for your dysfunctional relatives for so long, but eventually your kids will figure it out on their own! We do have some good memories w/some old friends who were able to drive down from San Jose, CA, to meet us, but we didn't come home refreshed and relaxed.
Anyhow, on to this trip. Dh surprised us last night w/the initial paperwork. He won for an entry on Jan. 20th and e-mail just came on Wed. afternoon so there may be up to 10 more winners, so don't give up hope. We had already been planning a trip back to WDW in early May w/the spring discount at CSR and will most likely just try to add these 4 nights to it. We are inviting a friend of mine who is living w/us right now. She has low income, no health insurance and would never be able to afford a trip like this. We are inviting her for the full time we'll be at WDW and only asking that she cover her food and souvenirs. We will cover the extra park days, and all hotel expenses so hopefully we will be able to share the blessing of winning again w/someone who deserves it and will appreciate it. Thanks for all the positive comments from people who don't even know who we are, but I totally understand the little nag of jealousy too!!:) Hope there are 10 more winners all from the DisBoards here!!

This is fantastic! :goofy::mickeyjum:donald: And yup, I'm jealous lol. But I sincerely hope you guys have a wonderful trip, and please keep all of us LOSERS updated as you plan your trip!

Oh my gosh I am so glad you get a do-over! That would certainly have given me a heart attack too! Congratulations!

Congratulations pokanos!!! :flower1: I hope you have a better time this year. Keep us posted on your planning and trip. :D

Congrats Pokanos. Thanks for coming and telling us your story. It does make me even happier for your luck.
This is why if my DH and I were to win we probably would go alone. We've had not so much drama but enough in other trips that we find the fewer the better. But fate has not been on my side so being you from Fargo, ya I think you trumped our cold winter here in MA so extra happy you get to have some sunshine to look forward to.

Keep us posted. And thanks for reigniting some hope that maybe there are more winners based on the no response days.
We'll see.
:wizard:

CONGRATS to you and your "do over" vacation!
You guys got really lucky because I'm thinking your DH's name was drawn after the original pick didn't respond. :wizard:

I am thinking the Flip Side picks are done, unless anyone gets lucky for a redraw as it appears that is the case of pokanos.
SO GOOD LUCK to everyone moving on to new sweepstakes! Hopefully we see more winners on Dis!!! :goodvibes

I think the sweepstakes is done as well. We've already had reports from winners last week who said they won for the 25th and 27th (or around those dates) so winning on Wednesday for the 20th had to make Pokanos' DH an alternate winner. Although, congrats Pokanos!! An "alternate" winner is still a winner!!! Have fun with all your planning!!!

Have all of the flip side winners been notified by now? Or shod I still be checking my spam folder? :)

Nobody knows for sure. I would argue they probably are done with the sweepstakes but someone posted that their husband just got notified he won on Wednesday for the January 20th daily prize, most likely as an alternate winner given that other people have already come on and stated they won for later dates. I'd keep checking my spam folder, but I always check it before I delete it anyway :)

Trying to hold onto the hope that there might still be a few more, but it's getting awfully sad now that I've planned the whole thing in my head already, and it appears that Betty forgot to send me my email....

Disney's always on my mind. Disney's always on my mind.
Tell me, tell me that Betty's emails haven't died.
Give me, give me one more chance to be satisfied.
Let me be satisfied!!!!

:P

Another day, another contest.

Hey did you hear about the mother of 4 that quit her job at Walmart and McDonald's to stay home with her special needs child?
She was one of the powerball winners.
That is awesome fate!!!

I keep hoping for the shocker email, but the timing hasn't been there and I'll accept it.
For those that did win, I can't wait to hear all about your fabulous trip and I hope you can post pictures.
Just please don't tell me if the glass slipper fits your foot. sigh.
I hope Disney comes out with cool "glass slipper" shoes that we can really wear. Ok ya I don't know how they could be comfortable but..........

:grouphug:

Okay question: for the photo submission contests (I know of two at the moment) I was looking through the gallery and noticing a few were obviously Photopass photos. I have some great photos taken by Disney Park staff, but it is my understanding only photos of your creation qualify. What is the consensus on this?

My understanding is they have to be original photos, so I would assume that those people could be disqualified from the contest? Not worth the risk in my opinion.

I figured it was fine since the one part of the rules discusses rides such as no arms raised on ride, which you would only get from a photopass. However I do notice this nugget:
"The Submission must be authorized. This means that you must have the legal right and any and all permissions necessary to submit the Submission into the Promotion. By submitting the Submission, you hereby represent that you have all rights necessary to distribute the Submission through the Website or any other website and to grant to Sponsor the rights set forth herein."

I know you received limited rights to the pictures but if its enough (which stinks because I have definitely submitted both!).

I'm confused on how they would judge that as well because I have been uploading photos taken by photopass photographers, but they were taken with my own camera since we don't buy memory maker. Obviously I don't have any ride photos/magic shots but I have a few taken at the obvious photo locations.:confused3

Congrats to the winners!

As amazing as it would be to win, there are practical considerations. We can pretty much only go the week we've already booked or MAYBE in December. We could not afford to go twice. I'm lucky, I'm Canadian and wouldn't have to pay taxes, but that would be a serious concern as well (as taxes would end up being as much as I planned to spend on the trip). There would be a lot of factors to be considered, as the winner have posted.

oooo this thread is slowly fading off into the sunset.

Well still hoping we hear another win next week. The winter wonderland here has me inside again another day.
Looking forward to finding out when the winners go and which resort they get assigned to.

I've been entering Perfect fit daily, but not sure I'm confident of my fate of a 2015 WDW vacation.

For those on school vacation this week, enjoy........p.s. please tell me I heard wrong and we don't have another storm coming this week.

I've been lurking this thread just like you all, entering contests each day and dreaming. Now don't get excited, I'm not a winner coming out of hiding :). Our last and only trip to DW was exactly a year ago tomorrow. Oh how we ache to go back.

Anyway, one thing that makes me feel a lot less hopeful with that Smuckers contest is that damn photo gallery. I have never seen our pic on it...it only makes you realize how many damn people enter these contests haha. My husbands laughs that I enter every disney sweepstakes under the sun but never the lottery. For some reason I have less hope for winning that than a disney trip. Go figure.

I am the exact same way!!!!! The Lotto is wasting your hard earned money! Lol

Good point. If I'm gonna not win, don't take my money too. I can save that for my next trip. pixiedust:

I was super cold earlier so I went back under the covers. Shocker I fell asleep. Unfortunately didn't wake up warm and toasty. Gonna work on getting toasty. DH refilled the bird feeder. They were having a great time, until Mr. Squirrel decided he can come out of hiding now. sigh.
