In order to claim prizes we have to answer a skill-testing math question like 5+3x2-6. Luckily I know a lot of math teachers. Unluckily I never win anything!

I think you have to follow the order of operations or some such & do the multiplication first (but I could be completely wrong- I teach French not math

Oh that would stress me out so bad I'd lose the prize for sure.
My first thought was geesh if those Canadian winners are bad at math then it opens more chance for me to be an alternate. But then I reverted back to the feeling bad you have the extra stress.

That's really interesting they make you do that. So if you get it wrong, you don't win the prize?

I assume so, but I've never personally won anything to test it out. Here's the reasoning behind it according to Wikipedia...

Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally consist of a mathematical STQ.

Wow learn something every day. That is really an interesting loophole.
Well I hope whatever they throw your way when you get that winning email that you pass the math quiz. And at least let you ask for help.

Well, I've entered for the last day without any troubles. I've done all I can do and it's all in their hands now! Maybe I should do something like the kids do when wishing for a snow day (ice flushed down the toilet, spoons under their pillow, and jammies on backwards). Should I watch Cinderella, sleep with my ears on, and say Walt Disney 3 times in the mirror?

This made me laugh.......the kids and I did all these things (except the toilet, never heard that one LOL) in December 2008 on a night when they were predicting some sort of sleet/mix......I am sure all of our NE friends remember the ice storm....schools were closed for a month! We never did it again.

So it's YOUR fault!!! yes I remember it well! And was it October 2009 that we had the other one? Doesn't seem like it was that long ago but now that I'm calculating back, it was. Wow. The generator has been keeping ice storms away that long. LOL

Have you heard anything new about Monday's next storm?
I hope people don't confuse the Disney win chants with the snow chants. I'm really done with winter.

Seems like the predictions for Monday are all over the place like they were for Friday. Heard 3" for our area, also heard up to 14"........I think meteorologists are the only folks who can be wrong so much and keep their jobs.

LOL this made me laugh. My son is convinced he can be queen Elsa. He tucks a sheet in his shirt to look like a big cape and sends snow flurries all over the house. Magic powers to make snow and ice apparently appeal to everyone.
