It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

I hear ya! When my girls were the ages of yours was the first time we took them to DLR. I can only imagine how magical it would have been to be at WDW and staying a night in Cinderella Castle! What is truly crazy is that Disney has only gotten more magical for my girls as they have gotten older. They are 14 and 12 now and more in love with all things Disney than ever before. I guess we have raised them right?? :rotfl: I still live for those smiles:thumbsup2

It's great! Every year they see and do something new! My 4 year old is just about to hit 40". She can do a whole new set of rides. Can't wait!!

I had no problems entering today. Usually I get the error message and have to keep clicking verify. My fingers are crossed that we win.

I admit I felt a bit sad knowing it was the last time I could enter for the contest. Sure hope this year is our lucky year. Now it is sit back and wait to see what happens. Good luck everyone!

Add me to the list of folks feeling a little bummed to have submitted my last entry!!

Although I'll probably still be eagerly checking my emails through mid-February hoping I'm a winner for one of these last day of January drawings and/or as an alternate!!

I was able to enter this morning after getting the maximum submissions message all day yesterday.

I have gotten that message on two separate days so I don't think my entry counted on those two days.

It will be strange not entering every day but I won't miss the web site and all of the glitches that it had.

My girls are 15 and 11 and we would love to stay in the castle. We are staying at the VGF in Dec. for my oldest's 16th birthday. So I don't know what resort we would pick. I would like to stay at the CR, Poly or the AKL.

Congrats to the winners so far and lots of pixie dust to everyone else!

I don't like uploading pictures, either. Maybe if it was like this sweepstakes, where there's a winner every day, but with that one, you can upload a picture every day, and there's only going to be one winner. So the odds aren't as good, AND I have to post my pictures? Ehh.....

I agree about the odds. However, the contest period is relatively short - 1/20 through 2/16. I hate the sweepstakes that are open for months...I mean seriously what can your chances be of winning a sweepstakes when everyone can enter everyday and it's open for 180 days and there's only one winner? I don't even bother with those. Now a sweepstakes that's open for a couple of months where you can only enter once...those aren't too bad.

I share the ehh on the uploading a picture. I don't have cute little guy pictures. Although I have a really sweet one of my husband all happy and exploring Tom Sawyer Island for the first time. LOL He's wearing a tshirt that says "The Code never bothered me anyway" ;) He's a Software Engineer. One of his coworkers bought it for him to wear at Disney. LOL

But I don't know that I will enter that contest. I'll let someone with little kids win that one. :-)

Ahhh...that sounds like a cute pic!

I'm pretty sure I read the rules and this is just a drawing contest so the pic doesn't have to be cute- just entering one gives you an entry. Less people enter these so the chances can be better.

There is another Disney contest though where the pic is being judge- by national geographic I think. That is for a 16k Disney trip.

You are right! In this contest they aren't looking for the cutest photo just that you upload a photo and that gets you a submission. It's more of a privacy thing to give away all rights to my image for a sweepstakes where 1 person is going to win out of maybe up to an million daily entries (aggregated over the 26 days the contest is open)? Not that I think they'll do anything crazy with my picture but I wish they would let you enter with the choice of uploading a photo. The NatGeo is definitely a "best picture" contest and that's not really fair for people without kid. I mean do you think they'd pick a cute pic of me and my DH with Mickey or some cute 2-year old or family making memories - LOL!

I did upload one pic that was of me in a Minnie dress when I was like 3...and captioned it "Rocking my Disney side at a young age." But then after I submitted it I realized it was probably an invalid submission because it was taken at a studio/Sears/JC Penny type place. And it doesn't have a logo on it and it was from 30 years ago but the rules say the picture has to be your original picture. And I didn't even think about it until I submitted the pic but I would imagine it's invalid.

I don't think I'll upload anymore...but the prize packages are pretty awesome with the VIP tour and one of them included like a $1,200 gift card...nice!

entered for the last time today :(. I am very sad about that

sniff sniff me too. I woke at 5:30am and that was my first thought to see if I could enter. It went right through no problem. sniff sniff what will have have to wake up for now?

me too...In Betty I trust...pixiedust:

LOL

So who else is feeling a little sad that today is the last day?

I never won a single thing in the "Year of a Million Dreams" but I missed it when we went back and it was over. I loved waking up with that hope every morning.

Amen! Gonna miss everyone cause now as history has it with other threads people start to stop coming to check out who posted and chat. Ya I know I need a life. How dare my son that I used to do everything with had to grow up and go off to college. It's all his fault that you all have to read my posts.

Well, I've entered for the last day without any troubles. I've done all I can do and it's all in their hands now! Maybe I should do something like the kids do when wishing for a snow day (ice flushed down the toilet, spoons under their pillow, and jammies on backwards). Should I watch Cinderella, sleep with my ears on, and say Walt Disney 3 times in the mirror?

LOVE THIS!!! I have to admit at first I wasn't awake enough and thought....weird....but then as I kept reading I thought that's a good idea, that's a good idea and then hmmm what can that hurt.
But there is a sense of relief that I've done all that I can and now it's up to the odds, karma, and blessings from Heaven for any Pixie dust to come my way. I'm trying to hold onto the thought that if I don't win this sweepstakes then the powers from above have a much better 5 days planned out for me the week I would have picked to go. There are some days my positive attitude really gets on my nerves.
:rotfl2:

I was able to enter today. I'm sad that today is the last day.

I have had a great time talking with everyone here. I hope everyone still shares if they won. Good luck! I'll keep checking my email for the next couple of weeks.

I'll keep checking here too to live through others wins, but I also wonder when the boards change how much this thread will die out.
Well whoever counts today as their last day.....bye it was nice connecting.

Since I knew today was the ok to have maximum submissions with all the other ones being moved over for giggles after I successfully entered, I tried again and got the maximum submissions message. So with that on the two days that I could not get the "Thank you for entering" message, I'm going to assume that means my entry did go in. Hey we will never know so I'll go with the positive side of the thought.

Happy end of January. It was really nice getting to know you and find out many of us are neighbors.

LOL when I sign off with the pixiedust I feel like I disappear. :lmao:

I was able to enter today without any issues but I'm also bummed this was our last day. I hope all you winners keep us posted with all your fun plans and write some trip reports! I also hope we see some more DIS winners! Now it's just a waiting game for my winning email.

Here's another WDW contest you all may be interested in...http://partners.disney.com/share-your-disney-adventure

The prizes look great but I never love the idea of uploading pics online so I hate that the competition requires a picture upload. What do other think about that?

I entered this contest today. The prizes are cool and we can go back to Disneyland if we win! Good luck to those who enter this contest. I have tons of DL/WDW pictures t enter. Too bad I missed the first week.

What will we do now? I guess obssess over getting a pin code. :rotfl2: We are taking our first trip that my 2 youngest will be able to remember at the beginning of June. Last one was 6 years ago. Kids were 7, 3, and 3 months and we were there because DH had a conference ;). I am also starting to plan a surprise trip for their birthdays over spring break next year (they were all born in February). Leaving DH at home and taking my mom for that one. I've come to the realization that there won't be many more years for my kids (while they are still "kids"), my mom, and me to be able to make memories. So, yes, I could use a bathroom remodel, a kitchen remodel, some new furniture, etc., but those are not the things that make a happy, memorable life for my family. My coworker lost her mom, only 54, last week. She passed away in her sleep. My coworker's son is only 1. It has really made me think about how I choose to spend my time and what is really valuable in my life. Anyway, that was a tangent. What I really wanted to say is that the contest rules state that the winners' list will be available beginning 2/15, so I think we have about 2 more weeks to keep our fingers crossed for that email from Betty :thumbsup2

We were there only once during that time, but dh & I did win a lanyard with the fast passes on it - didn't want to use any of the fp's though because we (I) wanted to keep them intact!! ;) Was able to get any FP's from the machines that we wanted though. Still have our lanyards, of course!! :)

Haven't expected to win this contest even though it has been fun to enter - haven't had all the problems others seem to have had - only a couple times had to enter again because of error. We can all 'hope' and 'dream' anyway though! Maybe some pixiedust:

I want to encourage you and all that have a good relationship with your mom or dad to make those memories!!!! My mother died at 53 of Lung Cancer. She was so in love with all children. One of her dreams was to take my nephew (the oldest grandchild) to WDW when he was about 10 years old. Well just as he approached that age she was diagnosed with Cancer and died a year later. So that memory for him never happened.
And I would have loved to have my mother come when we went, but we had to take her in spirit when our boys were 6 and 8 and we took them. (and we went 2 years later again with them, and then I took the younger when he was 14 just the two of us). So I have those great memories. But it would have been so awesome to do this with Mom.

So yay for you to do this with her and your babies. Too many times we put off making memories.

I totally agree the remodel and new furniture are not going to make memories. We never know when the next day people will be gone from our lives. Live today.

Good luck everyone! Entered for the last time too.

I'm in canada so not eligible for a lot of the contests. On the plus side we aren't taxed on the ones we win!

A month ago I won a Frozen reclining chair for the kids so that was pretty cool. Hoping my luck keeps up!

I for one would be thrilled to stay in the castle!! It looks awesome!!

Hi to you in Canada!
I have a question for you. This morning when I couldn't sleep at 5:30am I was flipping through my phone and reading the sweepstakes rules. It says something about Canadian entries were taking a math quiz?
Please explain what that means. I thought that sounded strange.

After lurking for a while I decided to join! Y'all are so helpful when planning our disney vacation! I grew up going to Disney every year and I'm still as in love with it as the first time!

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck! I've entered every day since January 1st and I'm crossing my fingers as well! pixiedust:

In order to claim prizes we have to answer a skill-testing math question like 5+3x2-6. Luckily I know a lot of math teachers. Unluckily I never win anything!

I think you have to follow the order of operations or some such & do the multiplication first (but I could be completely wrong- I teach French not math ;)

From the weird math I made up based on the winners who have reported in and going on the idea of one winner being notified a day and only on week days, we should only be up to about the 18th of January and winners should be getting notifications until about the 20th of February (which matches up with last year's winners reports, right?)

I like your weird math! Gives us more hope!! :thumbsup2

That's really interesting they make you do that. So if you get it wrong, you don't win the prize?

I assume so, but I've never personally won anything to test it out. Here's the reasoning behind it according to Wikipedia...

The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Criminal Code of Canada bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, licensed casinos, and charity events. Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally consist of a mathematical STQ.
