You know....I don't really know if they fly direct. I think it's via Auckland. But the alternative was to fly via Syd-o-ney. Either way, it would have been a one-stop for DH. And he prefers to stop in Auckland.

Qantas is just too expensive now. I suspect we'll be doing the Air New Zealand option more often.

Perfectly understandable...
Living in Syd-o-ney we have all the direct options available so I do forget about our poor cousins to the south ;)

BTW ...that's cool about the bands you found!
I don't doubt they exist. But because marching bands are in the US school culture they have much more of a presence than out here.

Mainly because of the schools I went to I've been more in contact with Highland pipe bands :lmao:

The 5th band within a 10 km radius of me was also performing that day....

Ok so here we go with some more photos...

I'll start down family memory lane...which was a VERY common thing going on.
"Mum - Look son...this was the car my parents had!!!"
[Obviously these are not THE car...but ah the reminiscing :lmao: ]

So we have -

The car my beloved Grandma had

My mum's family car. As a child this was the car they went on family vacations in -

My dad's first car - A Morris Minor. These things were indestructible. He was in an small accident (not his fault) and when they got out to inspect the 'damage' the other car was all dinged up. He had not even a scratch :lmao:

Moving on -

Some more Hot Rods

Very nice! Love the corvettes, mustangs and the aston martins. But my favourite is that jalopy from Toad Hall! :thumbsup2

lol....

The 'boys' school associated with my girls one has a scottish heritage (I guess that's the way to put it) and so they had a pipe band.

We had a concert at the Sydney Town Hall and the prep and rehearsal area is deep in the bowels of the building....where it echos.....a......lot...

The pipe band decided to do a 10 min warm up that I don't think I'll ever forget. They were amazing....but my ears :faint:

I know its Friday night but it's bedtime over here. DS was allowed to stay up a little bit and is now tired. He's going to be jumping into the 'big bed' with me tonight. :cloud9:

Have a good night!

Was about to say the same thing...

Night night...

Hope DS doesn't wriggle too much :)

Firefly - How long does it normally take to do a background check?

They said anywhere from 24 hours to seven business days, so I really don't know. It was Tuesday, so I still have a few days.

Just depends on the employer, sometimes a few days or longer if they dont feel like doing it. thats the problem here in the US you dont know what they will do. It can be very frustrating.

Agreed. I know they want to staff this place quickly, as it's brand new, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm getting annoyed :lmao:

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking too. So basically since this is the culture of what we can expect leading us int ten to twenty years we are doomed! :faint:

This is abysmal! But what can I say? Oh well. I'll just hand out on the DIS a good night, it's late :rotfl2:

Agreed.

Can you talk to HR at thier HQs to get some detials on the progress?

:thumbsup2

Where were these taken?

I also had a look at When You Wish as well. Great job on the video, sound and editing!

Thanks, this was from our Fourth of July concert last summer, hence all the ambient noise.

They are actually more common than you know. I didn't know this either until about a month ago......but there are 4 local swing bands within 10 km of me. 4 :scared1:

This particular one does the hotels and pubs scene, setting the scene from the days of radio transmissions. :thumbsup2

That is certainly an odd looking swing band! (From an American perspective)

Good morning all. We are on the bus headed to yosemite

Have a good time!

The recruiters told me it could take up to 7 business days. Which is a week and a half. It's only been three days.

I know, but maybe you could flank the recruiter and find out about staffing through someone at a desk following the process for the new store. It's just a suggestion. Hope I'm not stressing you out by pushing you on this topic.

I've already tried calling them because my dad was pestering me about it. They can't give me any information until my background check comes back.
