How complex we are. I know this sounds dumb, but did you ever think about how different people are? We all see the world from different point of views and see people different.

Another thing that amazes me is outer-space. Where does it end? Does it even end? It's creepy thinking about how there could be life out there besides ours. It. never. ends. Could someone even fly out that far without running out of supplies?

I know the advances we're making in technology are extremely helpful, but we're destroying the earth. I'm not trying to be a tree hugger, but we really are helping the earth slowly deteriorate.

No, we could never travel that far iwthout dying. Supplies are heavy, and the heavier the ship, the more fuel it takes. It would take about six months to get to the moon. years and years to get to mars. we wont' be able to travel further than the moon until we discover warp speed.


Humans are such complex creatures. look at our cardiovascular system alone if you disagree iwth me.

^Funny you mentioned the cardiovascular system... it's the weirdest thing, going around, living your life, and then you put your hand to your heart and realize that this little muscle's pulling is all that's keping you alive. If it stops, you're gone. A whole person, gone. And that's just one body part... there are doubtless millions of ways that your body can just -stop-, fail for whatever reason, whatever tiny little reason. It's very scary... kinda humbling, though.

humans are the most complex creatures at this moment in time... what makes us complex is not our body systems.. monkeys, fish, frogs, birds, and other animals have complex body systems too... they have organs and bone and stuff that we do... what DOES make us complex is that we are smarter than other animals... our brain is much more developed so that we can think, create, and use tools... also, another complexity of humans are that we have enhanced color vision.. compared to many other animals, we have the best vision there is, which aids in our survival... most animals have to adapt to their environment to survive.... humans however, change the environment to adapt to them.... so i guess in short.. its not our bodies that make us complex... tigers and sharks have more complex systems than we do.. but its really the development of our brain and our ability to think and use tools....

Annoys the heck outa me. Did you know that eating vegetarian is good for the earth? SO much energy is used to raise animals - the statistics are staggering.

yea, my classes are really putting global warming down in our faces.. i had to write a 10 page paper on it lol... in english class of all places... but yea.. it sucks.. there will be more hurricane katrinas to come, and theyre all gonna be worst... im sure its the next mass extinction... cause when it hits full frontal, well run out of food supplies and well die off like the dinos

I agree with Jenny on the whole global warming thing. Shelby's global warming speech is basically what I think of global warming.
Basically, An Inconvient Truth bored me to tears, tried to understand what the shots of Al Gore looking out an airplane had to do with global warming... and made me a little bit less concerned about it. Al Gore getting a nobel peace prize? That just pissed me off.
Anyhoo, I'm more concerned about other issues than global warming.
I'm all for conserving our planet, but sometimes people just overdo the preaching.

lol thats the thing.. climate change bores everyone to tears... and watchign a 2 hour movie of just him lecturing would just make it more boring.... since its a movie trying to reach public attention, they just added in all of the stuff from gores personal life to give it some type of story so that itll appeal to more people.. so i dont really go by that movie.. but iono... a lot of civilizations have died (mayans, ancient egyptions, the akkadians, etc etc) because of climatic change... and everyday, i see drastic changes in weather patterns... terrible storms like tsunamis and hurricanes are getting stronger and are branching into large populations much more often now than before.. summers are getting hotter.. winters are getting weirder (there are cold periods, than sudden warm ups).... its just hard to ignore...

i dont mean to preach... its just that its been bothering me and im ranting haha... doesnt help that im a biologist either lol >_<

but i guess this debate has come up before i was around, so i wont bring it back to that... we all have diff opinions so lets agree to disagree
