We leave this Saturday for 6 nights and 7 days at the Poly with a Magic Kingdom View. My 3 kids still do not know we are going. We're going to tell them when they get home from school on Friday that we are leaving for Disney World the next day!! They are going to flip out. My 3 daughters are 10, 7 and 5. We haven't been there in over 4 years.

We're driving from NJ so we won't arrive until Sunday. I noticed that the Magic Kingdom is open for an extra 3 hours Sunday night (does it really stay open until 1:00am?). We have 6 day park hopper passes so I figured we would get settled in and head on over that evening. You think the park will be mobbed? I noticed that we also need wrist bands to stay for the extra magic hours? How does that work?

Congrats on your upcoming trip. How exciting for you and your girls. I don't know how crowded EMH will be, but the wrist bands are usually easy to find. You will see CM's handing them out in various locations. Usually a line forms, so you can tell something is going on. Your just need your room key.

Have a great trip!

First off let me say, Yay! Your going to Disney World!!! Your children are going to be so excited!!! The look on their faces are going to be absolutely priceless. We leave Dec 1 and my husband and I are also not telling our son that we are going until the morning of when we have to wake him up to go to the airport. I'm so going to capture a picture of that!

Anyways, to answer your questions. Yes, it is known that Disney can keep their parks open until 1am. When you check into the Poly (which is my fave resort by the way:thumbsup2) they will give you a map and schedule of park times, EMH hours, and so on. Make sure at check in, to ask what time MK will be closing that evening for EMH. And to answer your other question, if you are not going over until the evening or even when the EMH hours begin, they will give you a wristband when you enter the park. If you already happen to be in the park, there will be CM all around handing out wristbands. Just show your resort key and they will happily give you one.

Have fun and when you get back we want to hear all about it!!! Have a Magical Day!!!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I plan on videotaping the reveal to the girls. They are going to be beyond excited. I'm really hoping for a great vacation. We really need it. I also have my fingers crossed for moderate crowds. We've never gone this time of year. I know a lot of NJ folks like myself will be there but not sure about what else to expect. Anyways, I'll let you know all about it when we get back. Lots of pictures for sure!!!

That would be so fun waiting to surprise your children before you go. I have always wanted to do that, but I just can't! I'm the one who ends up giving the kids some of their christmas presents early:laughing:
I tried one year, but it only lasted a couple of days. I just love researching and talking about our trip and past trips so much while we are waiting, and the kids love talking about it daily so I figure for us it is better they know, it sort of extends our vacation while we wait and brings back the magic in our past vacations:wizard: Maybe one of these years if I go spur of the moment (with a month or less waiting) I might be able to do it...;)
Have fun!!!!:goodvibes

good for you to be able to keep such a wonderful secret. I would definitely blow my cover because my sons would hear me talking about our future trip.

Oh trust me...it's not easy... DH and I have this "secret" dialog to which we talk about our vacation. My son always wonders why we talk like that and we just say it's adult talk....:rolleyes1 ...he doesn't know better. But let me tell ya...it's been reeeaaallllyyyy hard to not cave in and blab it all out. At least I have DH to talk to about everything.....even though he stares at me with this look on his face like..."Here we go again. She's in Disney mode. Maybe if I keep looking at her in the eyes and keep nodding my head, she'll think I'm listening intently." Yeah, I know what's he's doing:sad2: I'm not that dumb! HaHa!... But it's nice to just talk about it....even if it's to a brick wall....

WOW!Your daughters are going to SO excited!!!!:) Yes,the parks always stay open three hours after park closing for Evening EMH,so if Magic Kingdom closes at 10:00,it will indeed be open for Guests staying at a WDW resort until 1:00AM!:)You will need to make sure to bring your resort Keys to the Kingdom room cards. These will be given to you at check-in.Make sure you get one for EACH member of your family. When you get to Magic Kingdom, you will need to show your room card at the turnstile if Evening EMH has started. There will be Cast Members giving out the bracelets in the area after you pass through the turnstiles. There are also other areas inside the park where you can obtain bracelets. When you get your bracelet be sure to ask for a Evening EMH flyer. This will tell you what attractions are open for Evening EMH,etc. From my experience, you will be shocked at how many young children there will be in the park at Midnight and beyond.I have been in Magic Kingdom at 3:00AM before and there were still many small children going strong! It just amazes me.That being said, the crowd should reall thin out after about 11:30.There will be pretty good lines for the E-Ticket attractions, but I have always been able to get in quite a few attractions in the last hour of Evening EMH at Magic Kingdom.I think your daughters are going to flip also when they realize they can see Magic Kingdom from their resort room!:)

We are leaving November 30th and driving from Delaware straight through. Hopefully only taking us about 16 hours. No stops except bathroom breaks since we are packing a cooler full of food and drinks. We are surprising our boys too. We plan on telling them right before we get into the car (at 4am). I am filming them and I am hoping DH will get a couple of still images of their faces too. I am so excited!!! They will be as well. I cannot wait! we are staying at the Coronado Springs and will be there for 8nights and going to MVMCP on Dec 2nd. Have a great and safe trip everyone!
