It's ALL About the Food (We go to WDW to eat and drink!!) ~ October 2009 TR

Well, we are all checked in. And, I was offered a business class upgrade for very little money. So... since it includes the first two checked bags free of charge, it is a very good deal! Add to that the fact that alcoholic beverages are complimentary.... it was a no brainer! I will begin my trip to WDW with a Bloody Mary! or two.

Sitting at our park 'n' fly hotel unable to sleep. I leave for WDW in less than 6 hours and I am wide awake!!

I will check in sometime tomorrow. I hope to do a nghtly or morning update with a picture every day. That is my plan, anyway. Have a good night!

Our trip was uneventful and began with Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers on the plane!

Our driver met us and we were off to Publix and to WDW by noon. Not bad for a flight that didn't arrive until almost 11:00!

When we arrived at the Beach Club our room was ready! We are on the first floor with a view of the quiet pool by the BCV:

Bob had his much-needed nap and I went into Epcot for my first taste of the F&W Festival!

I started with the Fisherman's Lobster and Scallop Pie from Ireland and enjoyed Off Kilter while I ate!

Then I walked over to the pin area in Future World to get pins for friends who can't come this year. How pretty everything looks!

I went to the Festival Welcome Center for my traditional glass of prosecco! There are lots of things I want to buy there. Let's see if I still feel that way in a day or so.

On the way back out of Epcot I stopped at Canada and had the Maple Glazed Salmon. It was warm and topped a cold lentil-corn salad. I think I liked it!

We have dinner tonight at Chefs de France. We are meeting another DISer that has become a friend (RachelTori). Can't wait!

I'm sorry I didn't notice the link my kids have me crazy lately. But I'm here now and so ready to be there. I hope you have a great time. To bad we are going to miss each other I would really like to meet you and your DH.

The meal at Chefs de France didn't happen! Three main reasons why. In ascending order:

3. They were so backed up and crazy busy and downright nasty I wouldn't have wanted to stay anyway.

2. RachelTori had already eaten dinner and three others opted to not even come.

1. Bob has had a recurrence of an "injury" and is very uncomfortable and can't walk very far. He wasn't there, so dinner for 1 didn't sound very appealing!

I made lemonade though! Laura and I went to the Hops and Barley Mart and I had a Crab Cake.

We talked and listened to the Starship concert.

On my way back to the villas I stopped in at lobby concierge and got a complimentary wheel chair for the next week. Bob is not happy with me, but it would have been a horrible week with him stuck in here and my alone the whole time.

I also stopped at the BC Marketplace and grabbed dinner. It is my semi-French dinner:

Roast Beef and Brie on a French Baguette

Oh Elin I am so sorry to hear about all this crazy stuff. Now I wish even more that I was there at the same time you are then we could have met up. I hope Bob feels better. Your sandwich looks tasty and I love your cute hat we need to see a pic. of you wearing it.

Elin, glad you made it safely and are enjoying yourself despite Bob's injury. I hope he starts to feel better.

The lobster pie looks so yummy ... and I'm not really a big lobster person. Can't wait to try it.

I scored another bottle for you today so I've got two for you. Jay has to travel next week for work (just found out today and I'm not happy) so my spare time is really gone because I've got management meetings next week while he's gone.

Anyhoo ... we will package this up and send it out via UPS on the 13th so you will have something nice to enjoy after your trip.

You probably will see pictures of me wearing it. I wear a hat outdoors almost all the time and this one is perfect. It was from Ann Taylor a couple of years ago and it packs really well! It has large grommets in it so I often change out the ribbon to change up the look. I only brought black with me for this trip, though.
