Last December, DH and I got stuck on Peter Pan. It was about 10 minutes. I figured they were trying everything they could to get it going again,as they would need ladders to get us off the ceiling! I was secretly hoping for an evacuation,but,alas,it started up again. Halted one more time for a few seconds,then onto the end. It was still a memorable moment,dangling there........
As for the back of the buildings- we've taken a few tours and the back of Disney is boring in looks,but interesting in layout. They have patented paint colors for the buildings so they will seem to flow seamlessly into the sky and ground. They do have specific color names,but I don't remember them. What's interesting is the layout. The buildings are placed for efficiency for CM's to get around quickly. It may look like a long walk to us from the middle of adventureland to Frontierland,but behind the Magic it's only two minutes. We've done it. The whole Magic Kingdom is set up that way. Even underneath,the Utilidors are very time efficient. Behind the Magic, is truly amazing!

I think it depends on the ride and the length of time evac takes. When I was young (I think about 9 or 10) my older cousin and I had to be evacuated from a ferris wheel(not at Disney) and it took hours. To this very day ferris wheels give me a sense of trepidation that no other ride , no matter how scary, does.

Yes I've seen people evacuated off a roller coaster approaching the 200 ft drop. They had to have the fire department come out and take them down the stairs (which are grated that you can see through down a LONG distance). Everyone was safe at the end of the day, but that would not be FUN and would be memorable only in a bad way. I would definitely pick pirates over that.

My cousin got stuck on figment on a recent trip and had to be evacuated. We joked that it was good they weren't in the smell room, but feel bad that someone probably was stuck back there!

We were evacuated off Space Mountain in December in a tunnel. Which freaked me out cause I don't like enclosed spaces. It would be better for me to evacuated before a big drop, cause I'm not afraid of heights.

JThey announce several times that they're shutting down and restarting the ride. Nothing. Mercifully, they shut the music off after about 15 minutes. Nearly 30 minutes in, they turn all the lights on and advise a cast member will be there to assist us. Poor CMs have to get in the water and push the boats by hand to the nearest emergency exit. For us, it was behind us near the entrance to the room. A total of 40-45 minutes after it all started, we walked out the back of the ride to where only CMs are typically allowed. We had to walk all the way around the back of the building and the back of Jungle Cruise before we worked our way back into the guest area of the park. Along the way, there were no less than 10-15 CMs guiding us and apologizing. At the re-entry point, CMs were handing out free ice cream and FP+ tickets.

I was on POTC last Wednesday night and the same thing, almost, happened to us. We didn't get evacuated, but got stuck several times, and were able to push push push our boat's way up to the debarkation point. But its was annoying because we were ALMOST there and kept getting bumped by the other boats until we finally got to the dock area.

I read several reports from that evening that many rides were breaking down. I was psyched not to have been on one that completely broke down. Haunted Mansion also got stuck when we were on it earlier - but that seems to happen each and every time I am on that ride.

The only Disney ride we were evacuated from was TMRR and we were just about at the top of the hill (where the rattle snake's are) when it stopped. It was a bit difficult getting out of our seat at that angle, but we found it very interesting as well walking through places that is only meant for staff. Back when we lived in Orlando and Universal was getting ready to open up IOA, we were able to buy a very discounted season pass and use it during their "soft" openings and we had to get off the Spiderman ride as well as the Bilge Rat Barges ride. It was very interesting on both of those, especially watching them drain the water from the Barge ride so we could walk off.

My girls still laugh about the time 4 or 5 years ago when twice on the same trip HM stopped. One time one of my DD's and I were at the edge of the walking ramp and a CM opened the Doombuggy and had us exit, leaving DH and DD #2 in the next one for nearly 5 minutes! A few days later, it stopped near the gypsy for closer to 10 minutes. I thought my head would explode from the constant repetition! But they still tell the stories! They'd have been in heaven if they got the PoTC experience you did, lol!

We got stuck on space mountain about 15 years ago. They turned on the lights and got it up and running. It's actually really scary with the lights on because you see how close the tracks are to each other. When it was over we got to go again in the dark. We still talk about it to the day!

I'm not either, but the fact that the stairs are grates and there is about 3 inches between them would freak me out. Ever since, every time we go over the hump of the big drop I breathe the biggest sigh of relief.

I am with you on this! I don't like seeing any backstage stuff ever. Not seeing backstage is part of the "magic" for me. In fact, my family laughs at me because I love WDW so much but I refuse to watch any shows (like they have on the Travel Channel sometimes) or do any tours that show behind the scenes/backstage information.

I've been stuck on POTC and HM but never evacuated. One time we rode the People Mover while they were working on Space Mountain with all the lights on. That was pretty cool.

We got stuck on Pirates in February 2014. I would not have minded, except I'd drunk a huge Diet Coke before we rode and really really really had to go to the bathroom! So I didn't have as happy of an outlook as you!

Same here! Last trip all the lights were on in Space Mountain and we were able to see everything from the Peoplemover! It was so cool!!!!

We were stuck on POTC a few years back. We were also in the fire room and after about 10 minutes, the music stopped and lights came on. It was strange. It took them about 25 minutes to get us moving again. We were evacuated once on Spaceship Earth, but fortunately we were not too far from the beginning so it was not a far walk especially since mom is disabled. The coolest was when Space Mountain broke down and my daughter and I were riding People Mover. We got to see it all lit up and just how plain looking Space Mountain is. We thought it was the coolest thing ever.

We got stuck and had to be evacuated from Splash two years ago. We were right before the ramp up to the final drop. We sat there for probably 40 minutes before cast members finally came along to get us off the ride. They walked us through the interior of the ride, then out a door which actually put us outside the park for a short distance. We walked along a wall for a few yards, then back through a door that led us back into the park to the right of the gift shop, collecting a fp ticket. In all the confusion, our son ended up leaving his bag in the "log". We went back a couple of different times to see if it had been turned in, and nothing. We ended up going by the lost and found out by the ticket and transportation center on the final day of our trip and still nothing. About 3 days after getting home, we got a call from Disney stating they had his bag, and were mailing it to us free of charge. We received it 2 or 3 days later, with his autograph book, pins w/lanyard, and hat all intact. Lotta magic for him with that ride. He was 8 then, now 10, an still relives it every time we ride Splash for the first time on our trips.

My DH and DS (newly 7 at the time) got evacuated off EE in 2014. I was slightly jealous that I didn't get to experience that but I was prego at the time. They still talk about it!
