It's a SO-LO trip report! Oct 09, CR/YC, MNSSHP, F&W, and Independence! FINAL UPDATE!

One of my favorite lines from any Disney movie is from Sleeping Beauty, "After all father, it is the 14th century." Your proposal story reminded me of it...after all, it is 2010!

I still need to try Yak N Yeti. It's on my list...does that count??

Of course, I didn’t want to explain that I was taking this random photo so I could write a ridiculously detailed trip report that I planned on sharing with thousands of strangers on the internet. So I said it was an inside joke.

They looked disappointed.

They wouldn't be if they subscribed to this thread!

I like that picture at the water fountain on the Maharaja Jungle Trek too.

Oh my gosh! I played Monkey Island in college too! That is so funny!:lmao: Let me ask, did you get sucked into Myst too?? Yup, I did.

Anyhoo, thanks for the Yak & Yeti review. I am dying to try it. Actually we were supposed to this past Oct. but my father-in-law almost passed out, literally, from the heat and so we went back to the Polynesian. But the amotsphere looks so fun and the menu looks good too.

Ok, what was wrong with that bat? Why did he have holes in his wings? Is that normal? I have no idea, I'm not a bat aficianado! They actually give me the creeps and I would have high-tailed it through that exhibit. Cool pics though.

Your butterfly story is hilarious! What is it about us disers that make us seem like weirdos in public? I got the strangest looks from many people on our last trip because I would take pics of my food, table lamps, fixtures, you get the idea! Too bad those people at AK were disappointed. You could have made something up about an ancient butterfly who used to be indigenous to Camp Minnie-Mickey. The lightpole is a monument to this nearly extinct butterfly which is rarely seen except in clear weather!

So how many times did you ride EE then?:goodvibes

First of all...YAY! You're back!

Wow, it’s been a while. Where was I?
*COUGH*no kidding*COUGH*

About lunch: I have to say, I think it’s a shame that TS pickings at the AK are so slim. Since I wasn’t interested in meeting any characters (or in suffering through a buffet) at Tusker House.
While I agree that I have to be in a certain mood for character meals, my Tusker House experience was amazing...the food was incredible, delicious, plentiful in vegetarianism...and the characters were absent for lunch.

I swear…seems like if you made the chicken last for all six lettuce cups, you wouldn’t be able to taste anything but lettuce! And who wants that? (Other than hucifer.)
Even I don't enjoy iceburg lettuce. So I'm with ya there.

What is there to say about the bats, other than that they’re really, really cool?
Yep.

I always get a kick out of this:

You know, I've never noticed that before.

This is why, every time BF asks if we can get a pet monkey, I say no way.
Poor Boba Fett.

I spent a few minutes taking different pictures of this butterfly – since he was being so obligingly still – experimenting with camera settings and stuff. Imagine my surprise when I turned around and saw a group of about 8 people standing there watching me. They asked me what was so special about that spot, clearly expecting me to tell them something really cool. I could see the hope in their eyes: maybe they were about to catch a glimpse of some ultra-rare, hard-to-spot animal, some creature they’d get to see truly in the wild, free of the confines of Disney’s invisible cages and carefully-placed watering holes! Of course, I didn’t want to explain that I was taking this random photo so I could write a ridiculously detailed trip report that I planned on sharing with thousands of strangers on the internet. Dude, THAT is hilarious.

The butterfly story is just too funny. I venture to say that most of us Dissers have gotten that look once or twice. I have a hard time explaining to my BFF on our trips why I need to take pictures of random odd things. :lmao:

I love your animal pictures. Those shots of the birds are beautiful!

I have completely non-Disney news: BF and I got engaged last night!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations!!! :yay: You're inserting Disney-loving somewhere in the vows, right?

Lettuce Cups - minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, maple tamarind sauce, crisp lettuce cups

Despite the meat-to-lettuce ratio, it does look good!

So adorable! I just love when you can see their "paw pads." :lovestruc

:rotfl2: I laughed out loud over this! :thumbsup2

Hi Nory. I am catching up so first of all Congratulations on landing Bobba Fett!!! Marrying a bounty hunter sounds exciting.

Even though the animals were not cooperating it did not seem that the trek was a complete bust. You got some nice pictures especially of "Pretty bird". Too funny on the butterfly picture. I have had similar experiences of disappointing people wondering what I am doing when I am taking a picture of something ordinary trying for a different perspective.

I think she's moved onto planning the wedding and forgotten all about us. ;)

First up, great update. Loved the photos from your trek. Secondly, congrats on the engagement!

Hi everybody! I swear I haven't forgotten about you!

Actually, and I know this will sound sappy, but I've really missed you all.

Here's what happened: (1) we got engaged; (2) we decided to get married in August, in a city we don't live in; (3) we realized that if you want to get married in August, you were supposed to start planning six months ago; (4) we decided maybe we wouldn't get married in August, depending on how difficult or stressful it would be to get things done.

Next week I'm flying out to meet my mom and look at about a gazillion potential venues (BF can't get off work), so I've been researching possibilities in pretty much all of my free time. But I'll be back soon, I promise! I still have a day and a half of this TR to get through, and I will, no matter what! (Plus I've been excited all along to get to the last morning, so I can tell the story of the Really Mean Man.)

I hope you're all doing well, and I'll be back really soon!

You're alive!!:goodvibes Just kidding! Well, you've effectively explained yourself soooo I forgive you for leaving us all hanging!

How exciting about the wedding stuff.:thumbsup2 I'll bet your head is spinning though, right? I hope the planning is going well. I remember planning my whole wedding a-l-o-n-e! My mom lived far away and my step-mom, well, that's a another story! Just try to relax and make the wedding what 'you and Boba Fet' want and not what everybody else wants. Enjoy your planning!!

Ok, you'd better finish this sucker because I'm dying to know who the 'Really Mean Man' is!

No prob norybell! Take your time, we'll be waiting for updates.

Also avoid stressful situations... my sister is getting married this June and there's an acute case of bridezilla all over the house :rotfl:

A few months into our engagement I thought about eloping, it would be sooo much easier. Try to have fun with it though. :goodvibes

You are stringing us along by dropping in and leaving us a cliffhanger: "the story of the Really Mean Man".

Yeah...what up wit dat?

Actually, planning a wedding is a full-time thing and I totally get that. When you get a moment, please throw a bone to us hungry folk once in a while.

Knock, knock. Is norybell home??:wave2: Yoo-hoo! Ok, we know you're busy thinking about :bride: :groom:. But we want to :surfweb: read the rest of your fabulous trip report.:thumbsup2 So, for the time being, I will just do this popcorn:: until you come back!
