It's a SO-LO trip report! Oct 09, CR/YC, MNSSHP, F&W, and Independence! FINAL UPDATE!

Personally, I would do this option:

4. POR for 2 nights, BLT studio (amazingly, cheaper than YC!) for 2 nights

Because I'm a sucker for the BLT location. And having a monorail resort.

But if you know that you're going to spend a lot of time at Epcot, that is something to consider too.

I would do the POR and BLT split too...although I am not a fan of split stays either.
I am going in the beginning of May if that helps your decision any :rotfl:
This is a fun dilemma to have though right...at least you are planning a trip!

After my days at the Boardwalk, I'd have to go with the yacht club. I fell in love with the location so close to both Epcot and the studios. I'm already working out how I'm going to be able to afford it next year. :goodvibes

Great update norybell - Love the photos. Cracking up at the captions as usual. Loved the angle shot of Primeval Whirl.

Soon enough, it was time for me to check in at Jiko. I requested a seat at the Cooking Place (the chef’s bar), and I ended up being the first person seated there. I met Andy, the appetizer chef, who promised he’d slip me some appetizer samples (ah, the perks of eating at the bar!).

I got to meet Andy too! He's such a nice guy :goodvibes

Its such a good dilemma to have - where to stay...? We stayed at BLT this last trip and really loved seeing the Magic Kingdom every morning and watching the fireworks every night. We were kind of far from CR, so it was almost like not staying there at all. I thought the artwork and the view were outstanding.

Next trip we are hoping to stay at Beach Club or YC to experience the Epcot closeness.

Don't you love getting the PIN codes?!?!:cheer2:

I vote for the YC - I'm also staying there early May for the flower festival, nothing beats being able to walk into Epcot as you please.

OK, that's two votes for the YC and two votes for BLT...you guys are no help at all! :rotfl:

I completely understand your planning stress. I'm in the midst of it too.

I think you should work on DBF a little more. I forget, did you say that he's been there before, or not? Would he be more inclined if you let him pick the resort? Would he go for it if you asked him to accompany you as a birthday (or some other occasion) gift to you? But I'm brainwashed -- I think that if you get 'em there, they'll see the light . However, I realize that it's not for everybody...I don't understand it, but I realize it's a fact.
Hm, come to think of it, it will be around my birthday...I dunno, though, he genuinely seems to not want to go. And since I don't mind going alone, I'd rather he save his vacation and we go together somewhere we both want to go. And I'm not worried -- I'm sure I'll get him to WDW eventually!

Thanks, Biscuit!

You really can't beat a friendly chef with free appetizers, can you?

Great Animal Kingdom updates! I laughed especially hard about the strip club picture! :rotfl2: :lmao:
Thanks!

That's so good to hear! I'm leaning toward the POR/BLT combo...I made some basic, spur-of-the-moment plans, and some ADRs the other night, but nothing's set in stone yet. After the holidays, I'll start a PTR! Hooray!

Excellent choice, if I do say so myself.

Missy, you better finish this report before you start another one. In fact...you are overdue for an update.

My goodness, hucifer, you're such a taskmaster! :rotfl:

I know, I know, I'm overdue for an update...I was hoping to get one up today, and I still might, but I'm flying to WI for Christmas tomorrow, so it has to wait until my to-do list gets done. Normally, I'm all in favor of saving the to-do list until after more important things like TR writing, but with a 6 AM flight tomorrow...

I will try to compensate for the delay with this charming Santa smiley: :santa:

Can I be the tie-breaker??? Ooo, ooo can I?????

Sorry, it needed to be done :snooty:

I'm late anyway. My vote? YC for 4 nights. Drag the boyfriend along. Flutter your eyelashes if you have to. Even if you're not a flutter-er. Stay at the 1 resort the whole time. Newbies don't get the hopping. He'll see the magic in being able to :gasp: WALK! to not one, no no...but TWO! parks! :yay: He'll be hooked for life. It's a fool-proof plan!

Edit: but if you go by yourself, resort hop...it'll be more fun!

You know...it IS the holidays. Okay, I'm feeling festive and jolly and all that. I'll give you until December 26.

That's a good point...I didn't think about the YC having two available parks. Hmm...I may have to reconsider my original vote.

First, I love your TR! I've been reading along and lurking.:goodvibes Kudos on the solo trip, oh how I'd love to take one myself! Ah, just the thought of strolling around the parks, taking pics and eating alone is enough to make me jealous of your trip!:cloud9: Maybe one day, although it will take a lot of convincing to get my DH to agree to stay home with my girls while I vacay at Disney!

You definitely have a fun sense of humor, your witty comments are cracking me up! Are you a writer? It seems that some of the TR disers have a real knack for writing and I was curious! Either way, I'm enjoying reading yours.:thumbsup2

OK, back to your dilema...I'd only do one resort if it were me. Since you just recently did the split stay and lost a morning due to the switch AND you're most likely going for only 4 nights, I'd totally go the stress-free route and pick one. Now, as to which resort...is there a certain park you're planning to spend more time at? If you're planning to spend more time at Epcot, go with Yacht Club. If you're planning to spend more time at Magic Kingdom, then go with Contemporary or the Grand Floridian (love it there!). The Wilderness Lodge has crappy transportation IMO so I wouldn't consider it, but that's just me!

Was that helpful? Probably not since I recommded the 2 places you're trying to decide on! :lmao:

Anyhow, looking forward to your next update. And Merry Christmas!:goodvibes

Merry belated Christmas, everybody! I hope you all had absolutely wonderful holidays.

Sorry I've been away...I try my best to stay far from computers when I'm on vacation. Because once I get on a computer, I have to check my email. And once I check my email, I have to think about work. So I haven't even visited the DIS in an entire week. Shocking! :scared1:

And no update -- sorry! -- because I'm still in Wisconsin, sans my computer (where my pictures live). I was supposed to be back in NY by now, but a canceled flight yesterday means I don't get back until tomorrow. Gotta love holiday travel.

Is that an acceptable excuse for being update-free? Hucifer, will you grant me a pardon? :rotfl: I'll get one up this weekend, I promise.

In WDW trip-related news, it's looking like my mom wants to come with me in May, which would be great. It's still not set in stone, though, so I may have to plan for two different types of trips. Fun!

BF, what do you think? Yes, that's right, folks, BF is now reading this TR (though I'm pretty sure he hasn't gotten this far). I gave him permission. He seems to be enjoying it -- I often hear him chuckling while he reads -- but he claims that WDW still doesn't appeal to him. Maybe, once he gets this far, he'll log on and explain why to all of you! I'd totally get a kick out of that!

:welcome: Thanks for reading along, and for delurking to say hi! I'm not a writer; I used to be an editor, so I've worked with words a lot, but I've never had the confidence to try writing something of my own. So thank you for your kind comments!

Hey Nory! Welcome back! I've been waiting (not so patiently) for an update, but I can forgive the delay because, after all, we DO have lives outside of the internet. So I hear, anyway.

I hope that your BF gives Disney World a try one of these days. It may not be for everyone, but many folks are pleasantly surprised once they've tried it. Like the beet soup I just had for lunch today...didn't think I would like it at all, but one sip and I discovered that I loved it. Wasn't expecting to like it...and was pleasantly surprised.

Hope that WDW is YOUR beet soup, BF. If I may call you BF, that is.

Looking forward to the next installment.
(Oh, and I just discovered Great Biscuit's TR and HOLY COW, it's awesome.)

:scared1: He doesn't get Disney? Sacrilege. Where else can you immerse yourself in an amotsphere that encourages you to be child-like?? I feel like I'm 9 years old again when I get to Disney. Of course, the food isn't too shabby either! Le Cellier, Brown Derby and Narcoossee's were some of my all time favorite meals ever! I'm trying to talk DH into booking another trip but he's being stubborn.:headache: I even showed him all 2,000 pics I took of us on last trip to Disney so that he would have visual proof of the great time we had there! Still, no dice.

Your welcome for the comments!:goodvibes I read very few trip reports and yours made the cut!:lmao: Just kidding. It is an enjoyable read though and really really really makes me want to go back to Disney. Good luck working out your trip plans and good luck getting your BF to go! He doesn't know what he's missing!
