It's a Small World closed for NINE MONTHS??

Won't Stitch's adventure be opening soon? While not "in" Fantasyland, it may help draw some of the crowd from the area. I hope they'll have Timekeeper and CoP open during the IASW rehab.

Stitch is scheduled to open on Sept 1, I believe--AFTER the busy summer season has handled the lack of IASW....

I've got it! I have a solution!

They should leave the ride open so that people inside can experience the joys of a roof falling on their heads! ;)

Actually, hang on, sorry! Don't mean to offend you there PKS44 btw! Sorry if I did :)

The roof leaked in July 01, in the que area. Can't believe they've waited this long to rehab the place.

sorry if i offend anyone but i hope they bulldoze the whole ride

Just curious why you think it should be bulldozed, it a Classic Disney Original

The coins from all fountains in Walt Disney World are donated to various charitable organizations both in Central Florida and other national organizations through the Disney Hand program.

Magic Kingdom leaders announced on April 26 that the "it's a small world" refurbishment project is moving ahead of schedule, and the attraction's last day of operation before closing is May 1.
The new timeline will enable the theme park to reopen "it's a small world" by the spring peak period in 2005.

The "it's a small world" refurbishment will include the installation of an enhanced audio system, improved show sets and an enhanced entrance area.

I will be there in August 04 and this ride is what I call a memory floodgate ride. It brings back so many memories when I ride it. I first went on this ride when I was a teen with my parents and it is really a tradition that I go on this ride when I visit my favorite place in the world.

Boo Hoo.

IASW is also the ride we first go on at MK every year, we just have to wait for the next year.:D :D

So is it true that it will be closing at the start of May. We will be there May 15-23 and I has planned on it still being open. Please let me know for sure if it is going down sooner.

 :(

No, I don't think so........everything I have seen says it will close June 7th.

I really hope it isn't sooner!!:sad2:

If we miss it.......I will really be sad!!!

According to the Disney Cast Portal ...

" 'it's a small world' will be closed for refurbishment as of Sunday, May 2, 2004 and will reopen in Spring 2005."

I hope they improve the outside appearance of the place. It just doesn't (and never will, given the space it's in) compare with Disneyland's version.

YES it has been confirmed. Check out the WDW official site under the parks. IASW will close early May and Snow White will open May 7th.

This is just awful

This is good news for the long term preservation of an American treasure.

Sucks for the folks who will be visiting during the refurb...

This attraction certainly needs an update, its a classic and should be preserved but it was getting kind of worn. Poor WDW gets it from all angles. Lets fix it up, just not while I'm there. If WDW didn't fix it up people would go on about that. Six of one, half dozen of the other. Although we to like IaSW I certainly wouldn't let any closed attraction(s) dictate my time of vacation or the pleasure I would derive. Y'all need to lighten up.:)

The ride in Disneyland was originally at the NY World's Fair and if I am not mistaken it was sponsored by either Coke or Pepsi. I know Disney has an affiliation with Coke but I still feel that it was Pepsi. That I think is the reason it is so elaborate. When I went to WDW I was shocked at how boring the facade was.

Either way, it is time for the ride to refurbished. I must agree with the sentiment that it will increase even more the crowds in Fantasy Land. I hope at least Stitch will be opened. If you couple the closing with the construction at the lagoon.....what a mess!!

I can't see how it could be made to look like DL's version. I think that it look would weird next to the other Fantasyland buildings. It could stand to be spruced up though.

I'm OK as long as Peter Pan is open this year. For some reason I really want to ride it. :)

well we all need to be fixed up once in a while:)
