Its a small world after all: Not the ride

In March of 2007 our high school band paraded on Main Street at MK. Although our DD was in grade school we planned to see out hometown band. Was very cool to look down both sides of Main Street and see the blue and orange and LOTS of families we knew.

I ran in to a family from my hometown once, another time I was treating my nephew to a day at DHS (he was in college in Clearwater) and while waiting in line at the turnstyles, he saw a girl from his high school in Indiana...needless to say, I (the middle-aged aunt) didn't see too much of him until several hours later while he had a blast with her (it was two months in to his first semester and he was very homesick!) and the last time we were there, we were in line with a family from a town thirty miles from us, and it turns out I work with the mom's cousin! It truly IS a small world!!

Now that it is mentioned it has happened to us a few times as well. Once when I was at band camp... oops wrong story.

In August 2004 we were at MGM, the Beauty and the Beast Show and we ran into DH's cousnins from New Hampshire. No one knew the other would be at Disney.

In August 2006 we were at MK and DH and DD were coming off Space Mountain when DH heard a voice from his past, 20+ years past, a very recognizable voice I guess. It was a guy he went to high school with.

Still in August 2006 we were at MGM and were on Commissary Lane waiting out the rain to get pictures with characters when in the same line a little further back is DH's coworker and her family.

Sometimes it is unbelieveable how small the world and Disney World really is.

This has happened to me several times. Once, when I was 16, my family and I were making the trip from Fort Worth, Texas to DLR. We took our sweet time getting there. One of our stops was in New Mexico at a hotel called the White Rock Inn. While having dinner there one night, a family came in. The man was someone that my father worked with.

We left New Mexico and went to Las Vegas for a few days before heading into LA.

Two days into our DLR trip, we get on the monorail and guess who we end up sitting next to? Yep. Same family that we saw in N.M. Crazy.

I also ran into a friend from Jr. High when I was there on the C.P. in 1989.

It wasn't my last trip but the trip before, I was sitting outside of RNRC to relax for a little and people watch. Well, during my people watching, I saw a couple that I go to church with and have known my entire life. I was so flabbergasted by that happening that I called my Mom back home. She also goes to the same church so she knew them as well.

In December '06 we were taking a picture in France/Epcot and this person walked up to me and asked if I would take their family picture...

When we actually looked at each other as she handed me her camera we both said OMG and each other's name....if was a girl I went to High School with 12 years earlier. What was funny was that the day before I saw her and said to my DH...that woman looks like a girl I went to High School with.

SMALL WORLD!

The only two times I've ever been to Disney, I ran into people I knew at Epcot! The first was way back in 1993--as we were entering, a family from the school I taught at was leaving. Last summer, as we were going into World Showcase, a family we know well from church and school was leaving! Of course, this happens almost every time we ever go on a vacation--it's happened in Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge multiple times. . .DH is a pastor and I'm a teacher, so I guess we just know lots of people!!:confused3

Well while visiting last year I took my dd on Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasy Land. I noticed this man with a "PassPorter" tour pin and I said hello! And he gave me a PassPorter pin. After the ride it occured to me that it was the author and his wife! (Dave and Jennifer) I pulled out my PassPorter and sure enough it was them. :lmao:
I asked if they would take a picture with us and they were so nice an said yes. :rotfl:

In side the book the author Dave suggests to say hello to fellow Passporters.
I wonder if he imagined he would be spotted.

FYI
The PassPorter is a travel guide.

On a bit of a different level.....

I grew up in Orlando... graduated HS in 93.. left for the Army in 96.. and moved to MN in 2000.

Move forward to 2003, my family and I were in the MK. My wife and I were able to participate as veterans of the day. At the end of the flag ceremony the manager of Main Street comes forward to present us with the Vet of the day Mickey pins.

It's then I relize the manager is a good friend of mine from HS. He and I were both suprised. It was really to meet on a totally diffrent plain without planing it out. He said he saw the name on the certificate and passed it off being that he's met so many people at WDW lol.

That would explain some things, I live on the henry / clayton line and keep seeing people I know in Sept. Just didn't know it was a county wide mandate to go.

D

I think it might be because of our school breaks...and yep, I'll be there this year Sept 13th -19th with 12 of my Henry County Friends! :rotfl:

In 2005, I was walking back to my room at Pop Century at about 11:00 PM when I heard someone say, "Is that Jenna?" I turned my head and saw a friend of my family and her husband. Her father is my father's best friend, and both fathers knew we were going to be at WDW at the same time, but didn't think to pass along the news to their daughters! Naturally, it was the night before I was leaving WDW so we couldn't get together. We'd all been staying in the 50s section at Pop for three days and hadn't run into each other before then.

Isnt it funny when you run into someone you know, nowhere close to your home? We once ran into someone we knew while we were in Aruba! That was crazy!
