Minnesota (my home-at-home) is noted for snow in winter, but I am having a blizzard of pixie dust in June! A week ago we passed ROFR, 6 days ago I retired, yesterday I sent the check for our add-on, in 2 days we leave for AKL and OKW, tonight we celebrate my parents' 61st wedding anniversary, and now the latest and best:
Today our local paper had an insert from the State of Minnesota for unclaimed property. My mom's name was in it (she is 82 years old). She found out that her mother had left a very small, long forgotten insurance policy for her. It is only about $1100, but it is enough to buy her a much needed hearing aid! I can't even tell you how happy this makes me. She and my dad, proud and independent members of the Greatest Generation, would not let me pay for one, so it seemed hopeless. I have a lump in my throat. Whoever is responsible for all of this pixie dust (or grace?), I am overwhelmed. Thank you!
P.S. If you hear on the news of a UFO, do not be alarmed. That would be me.

Wow, that is wonderful. Good things happen to good people.

Enjoy your retirement and your vacation and
God Bless!

:wizard: If I were you I'd go buy a lottery ticket!!!::yes:: :cheer2:

Great story!!! It's nice to hear good things happening to good people. Best wishes on your visit home.

Take the previous advice ... play the lottery!!!

Hi,

Great news!!! Have a great time on your trip!!!

Thanks for sharing your good news with us. IMHO, it's just a partial payback for all the wonderful things you did for your students over the years. (I know you did wonderful things - don't know any teacher that hasn't).

Wishing you continued blessings throughout a long and happy retirement!

Sounds like you're on a roll. Send a little of your pixie dust my way. I need to have the refrigerator repairman in tomorrow because I just discovered I'm leaking water in the refrigerator. I hope he can fix it. We're sending out our check at the end of the week for our first 100 points and I really don't want to buy a new refrigerator now.

Thank you for sharing! It lifts my spirits to hear something like that. Now, do you think I could arrange fro an add like that in the paper so that my husband's grandmother would get knee surgery? (She has insurance, but still thinks she cannot afford it.) Oh the stubborn minds...

Thank you again for sharing. I just love hearing good news like that!

Blizzards like this one are wonderful! Congratulations on your retirement & enjoy your trip to WDW!!

Jean, I am so happy for you. I hope you and your DH have a wonderful trip.. Have fun!! Congrats on all the special things happening in your life recently.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks to all who are savoring my happiness with me. I have been blessed to have both parents for a long time. Dad was involved in the USN in WW II at Normandy, Iwojima and Okinawa and escaped harm. Mom survived colon cancer at age 39. I have much paying-it-forward to do during my lifetime, as you can see. So many good people seem to have a black cloud following them. I seem to have pixie dust falling regularly. Life is a mystery!
P.S. Despite the tongue-in-cheek advice of several folks, I made the conscious decision NOT to get a lottery ticket today. I would not trust myself to have lots of money. I might forget how exciting it was to get my $9.96 roll of Mickey Mouse wallpaper border in the mail. I could never risk losing the pleasure of small, everyday joys.

Glad to hear of a "Pixie Dust" blizzard!! I was nervous for a second!! Great news about your Mom's timely windfall.

Have a great time on your upcoming retirement trip!!:)

Jean,

With a "pixie dust" blizzard, you probably wouldn't mind if you had to get your shovel out to handle it, would you?!?!?! Congratulations on all the wonderful events that have been happening to you and your family. We just got word this evening that our second BWV contract closed today so we're excited -- now if we just had a trip coming up before October...

Have a great time on your upcoming Disney visit.
