itouch question

I got an itouch for Christmas and I LOVE it.

However, lots of times when I turn it on I get a black screen with an apple in the middle of it. After about a minute it's fine, but is this normal?

I have one too. It does the same thing when you are actually powering it up.

not when I'm charging it.. it's anytime I turn it on.

Yes, that's completely normal when you are turning the power on.

That is when the unit has been completely powered down. I t is loading the OS.

100% normal.
