iTouch and connecting to the internet

We just got my DSD an iTouch for her birthday. We have wireless internet set up in the house because of the Wii. But I can't get her iTouch to connect to it!! Can anyone help??

I don't have much experience with connecting iTouch to wireless, but I guess we'll need a bit more information such as can your iT see the wireless but not connect to it, or can it not see the wireless at all? Does your wireless router/AP have the cable/dsl built into it? Is your router/AP using some sort of encryption key such as WEP or WPA?

My son says this is hard to explain but he says:

Go To "Settings"
Go To "WiFi"
Put the WiFi to "ON"
A list of networks should come up. If none do, that means you can't get it (because you don't have WiFi in the house).
If a network shows up and doesn't have a "LOCK" then click on the network(don't click the blue arrow).

It should work after this.
