itinerary suggestions?

I was hoping I could get som itinerary suggestions for my upcoming trip.

I'll be touring the MK on Wednsday December 1 with my wife and two sons age 9 and 4. Since I have a four year old I was thinking of hiting fantasyland as the park opens and then since my nine year old really wants to do the haunted mansion I could do that. Then I'm stuck. Should I proceed to Frontierland? I could get a fast pass for Splash Mt. or BTMR, do Tom Sawyer Island, come back and ride then on to Adventuraland and TL. Or should I backtrack to TL after the HM since that land is good for my age group and I can get it done by lunch. Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated.

I will also be going to AK the next day (Thursday) and was debating whether I should go to KS with the rest of the park at opening or head to Dinoland and getting that done before the crowd. I can get a fastpass for the safari later that morning.

I think I would head down to the Frontierland Mountains after finishing up in Fantasyland - if the lines are manageable, do Splash Mt. & BTMR. If not, get a FP for Splash Mt. and head back to the Haunted Mansion. Before returning to use your FP at Splash Mt., see if you can get a FP for BTMR.

Regarding AK, we usually do KS first like everyone else. Dinosaur & the Primeval Whirl both have FP, so I would still opt to do the Safari before Dinoland.

Thanks. Good plan, I like it. Fast pass before Hm, then ride. Another fast pass before Tom Sawyer Island, then ride. Sounds good. But how is TL in the afternoon? Maybe do that land during the 3:00pm parade?

My 4yo does everything that you've listed. Are you sure that your 4yo won't want to do some of the bigger rides and that your 9yo won't want to do some of Fantasyland? When were you planning on meeting back up with your wife and 4yo?

I'll keep the family together, at least initailly. The four year old is brave and does want to do SM and BTMR so I'll put him on those. The nine year old has already agreed to take his brother on dumbo and all the other rides in FL.

I would definately do Fantasyland 1st. Get a FP for PP & then go right to Dumbo. Ride everything in the area and then when you are at Peter Pan, run over & get a FP's for everyone for Splash Mtn. You can either Skip PP or do it while everyone is taking apotty break or eating a Mickey Bar b4 PP!! After Fantasyland go to HM (I don't think you really need FP since it is a pretty fast loading ride). After HM go to Splash if your FP is ready. If not, then maybe kill some time at Tom Sawyer. B4 Splash if poss, get a FP for BTMRR (or immediately after Splash) & then go over to Adventureland for Jungle Cruise, PotC & Aladdin. Then back for BTMRR. Then take the RR over to Toontown. Do Barnstormer on your way out (it is actually fun, I liked it BETTER then BTMRR for thrills!). Then spend the rest of the time in Tomorrowland. Grab a FP for Space Mtn & take a ride on TTA if you need a break to relax. If you are in Frontierland for lunch Peco's Bills is good! Heck, depending on crowds, you may even get to see the afternoon parade!!

AK - Do the safari 1st!

Erin, I Like it! Thank you. Spectromagic is going on at 6 that day which probably means increased crowds, at least in the afternoon. So getting done early is probably not going to happen, unfortunately. But we are going to MVMCP so we can do what we didn't get to see at that time.

One other quick question. We have priority seating at Ohanas at 7:45, which gives us about 30 minutes to get there after viewing wishes. Is that enough time? Thanks all!

Erin, I had to laugh at your abbreviations. I think I know what you mean, but the skip PP or doing it when taking a potty break cracked me up. I tend to do PP when taking a potty break.

Greeny, that's good that your 4yo is brave--makes for an even more fun time. There isn't anything my son won't do once (didn't want to do Dinosaur more than once, though). How tall is your 4yo?

I haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes for HM in a long time. Usually later in the day it is a walk on. This is a fast loading ride so even with a line outside, it usually goes fast. (PoC is also a fast loading ride so the line goes down quickly and can easily be a walk-on later in the day.)

You might want to save getting a FP for either Splash or BTM. The Jungle Cruise can get backed-up so that is another good one for FP or, if there is a short line to hop in. Very slow loading!!

If your little one needs a break, I would recommend going into one of the sit-down theatre attractions (HofP, CBJ, etc).

Re AK ... I also recommend heading back for the Safari. We will usually ride on it first thing and then get a fastpass to ride it a second time a little later. It is a good ride for all ages.

The last time we were at AK Dinosaur tended to be a walk-on and we were there during a busy period.

Festival of the Lion King is a "must do" as is the Bug attraction!!

He is just short of 40 at 39 3/4 inches. I'm hoping with sneakers he will be able to ride. I have prepared him that he might not be tall enough to get on all the rides and he seems OK with it (for now) but he really wants to go on splash mountain. We'll see what happens.

Personally I feel if a kid is just short he should be allowed to ride. I know there are people that say the cut off has to be somewhere but lets be honest who drives 65 in a 65 mph highway? As long as you stay around that speed you won't get a ticket. Same logic should apply. JMHO.

If he's 39 3/4 without shoes he should be fine with sneakers! That's good that you prepared him for maybe not riding, but you should be in good shape.

My son is now almost 44"without shoes and has been hoping he will be tall enough to go in the 44"restriction rides he had to miss in February. He knows all the height restrictions for WDW and Universal, the little daredevil!

I agree, put Festival of the Lion King on your must see list. It's wonderful! After my husband and I saw it recently my DH was very impressed with the show, the energy level of the performers, etc. A very quality show.

How long will you be at WDW? We arrive on 1 Dec for almost 2 weeks.
