Thanks for posting! :)

Except for Labadee, that doesn't sound too exciting. I don't know what my family will think. We'll have to wait and see how the pricing is!

Interesting...Wow they are going far. No wonder you need 9 days. Thanks for posting.

Joanna

Whats group space??

Wow That sounds great. The carribean variety all from NY.I could do without the bahamas.I would prefer a Grand Turk stop.
Have they released pricing yet?

This sounds like an awsome cruise! Have never been to NYC so this would be a great excuse to go. Has anyone seen the ports for the 5 day canadian cruise on the Voyager?
I will be checking for pricing on the 9 day, but since it was just announced the prices may not be out yet.

The itin is not firm yet, they can still make changes. From what I have heard, the prices should be out any time now, they are not available yet.

I'm sure RCCL will be happy I'm the only one who doesn't think Ochos Rios, Grand Cayman & Freeport sounds not so great! Grand Cayman is nice, but Freeport??? On DCL, Freeport = another day at sea! :teeth: And Jamaica is nice, I guess, but it has such a bad reputation for safety. :(

Those ports don't sound too exciting either, although I hear that Labadee is very nice. I am really surprised they added the Bahamas on this trip. It would be really great to leave from New York, though. When are they coming out with pricing?

From what I have been told, the pricing should be available this week. The ship itself is a great destination. Labadee is their private beach oasis on the northern coast of Haiti. It is really nice... 2nd to Castaway Cay, IMHO.

I think it will be a popular cruise, especially since the whole northeast won't have to fly to get on the Voyager-class ships...

I'd be really interested in that one! We are an hour from Manhattan.

I saw you were going on the 11/8 Western cruise too on the other thread. Where do you live in CT? We are from Danbury!

dianthus,

We are in Prospect, right next to Waterbury... Are you on the 11/8 cruise ???

Alsos have the info on the Canada 5-day cruise for the Voyager in '04:

Sunday -- depart New York at 10:00PM
Monday -- at Sea
Tuesday --Halifax, Nova Scotia -- 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Wednesday -- St. John, New Brunswick -- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Thursday -- at Sea
Friday -- arrive New York 8:00 am

The Voyager will alternate this 5-day itinerary with the 9-day Western Caribbean itinerary..

I did notice yesterday that RCCLhas loaded the dates into their reservations system, but the prices and bookings have not been opened yet.

Pricing will be a factor, but it is a possibility. We would just drive up from Va. I am not impressed with the Baltimore cruise that is going to Bermuda, only because it is ONLY Bermuda (3 days) I like the idea of going to different ports. I will be interested in the prices also. Thanks. I will keep a watch out.

Just read that Labadee RCCL private island has a water park. That sounds like alot of fun. Anyone been there on RCCL since it was built in 2001.?
Joanna

Joanna,

Have been to Labadee twice . The water park is an area of the beach that has a number of water attractions in the roped off area. Banana boats, inflated climbing slides, etc. It is a separate admission as a shoe excusrion, for 1hr at a time. If I recall correctly, its about $20 pp.

Yes, we are on the 11/8 cruise too! Our third DCL cruise.

We'd like to try RCCL, as we've heard great things about them. 9 days out of NYC sounds great. My party of 5 cruisin' 11/8 is very interested for next summer. I'd probably take a few of my daughter's friends too. Does RCCL work the same way- the sooner you book, the better the discount?

We fly out of JFK, as it's about the same distance to Hartford & fares average $100+ less PP, so it's worth the hassle. Not having to fly is even better....

In the meantime can't wait for 11/8 cruise. Just got back from a short trip to WDW, so we are really ready now!

Fellow N.Y. 'ers and those close by, if you stop and think about it, the reason they are doing this is because the QM2 will be sailing from N.Y. to the Carib and Europe next year (alternating , Voyager is doing the same thing but Canada), So if you do the math, thats approx. 2600 on QM2 and 3200 on Voyager, added to the ships leaving NYC already thats spells cheap STANDBYS !!!! I have priced the QM2 , cabins run from 1350.00 to 31,800.00 (yes thats 31K, for a 2 story duplex), they are 8 day as follows, example is for 5/10
Mon
New York, NY, USA
Depart 5:45 pm
11
Tue
Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
12
Wed
Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
13
Thu

8:00 am - 6:00 pm
14
Fri
Fort de France, Martinique
8:00 am - 6:00 pm
15
Sat

16
Sun

17
Mon
Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
18
Tue
New York, NY, USA
Arrive 7:30 am

I like this itinerary better than the Voyagers, and the QM2 will be the icon of the seas, there will not be a better ship out there until someone builds it.

Linda,

RCCL is similiar, especially on the popular routes & times. Earlier is better. Pricing for the Voyager will open tomorrow and bookings will be accepted for the NY summer 2004 season. Some "very preliminary" prices are out now.

Send me an e-mail if you want more info.

rmbreset is right .. There are a lot more cabins available out of NY next summer. But remember, there are probably 15 million people within an hours drive.

mac_tlc

There are a lot of people within driving distance, but that hasn't stopped the last-minute bargains out of NYC in the past. Since we're not thrilled with the Voyager ports, we'll wait & see what happens. We're not fussy about cabins or anything, so we're willing to take a chance.

I also like the other itinerary better, but we really want to go back on RCCL. :)

Okay I don't want to be the one to say it but................has anyone ever seen the docks in NY? After leaving from the DCL terminal and going through customs and disembarkation with DCL I don't think I would even consider leaving from NY. I picked up my inlaws in NY and it was like a cattle call for luggage and parking....who gets to park? Ugh I can't imagine leaving from there unless they do some hugh renovations, and this would be a great place for me because we are in Connecticut.
