We are going next month with DD who will be almost 11 months. What type of paperwork do I need? I was planning on her birth certificate and wasn't sure if there is anything else I need for her to fly.
TIA!

Chances are you won't need anything, but the Birth Cert. should be the only thing you need.

I've flown many times with both of my daughters when they were under 2 and never was asked for anything, including the birth cert.

As long as when you made your reservations you mentioned you either mentioned you were flying with a child in your lap or you got her a ticket, you should be okay.

If she is a lap baby especially on Southwest you need her Birth Cert. If she has a ticket you need nothing. Kids don't need ID.

I flew with an 11 month old last Aug and didn't need anything. I did take a copy of his birth cert anyway just in case.

as a former travel agent and a mother.... First off you shouldnt have to have a BC to travel with any airlines I havent ever had a client nor personal experience where that happened.... The only time I have heard of a issue is if there was a question of whether the child was over 2... but for them to inquire.. its usually because the kid is 3 and parents trying to pull something. SECONDLY... for safety reasons my brother, an FBI agent told me it isnt wise to EVER take your childs BC on travels as it can be a dangerous loss for the wrong person to get their hands on.... much like social security card....
Call Southwest and state your situation and concerns and be careful taking that BC anywhere.

Southwest is notorious for asking with a lap baby they almost always ask, they even asked for my 6 week old son's so the child does not have to be over 2 looking for them to ask.

I agree about Southwest. My dd is 2 1/2, but has been flying with them since she was 4 months, and each time she was under 2 and flew as a lap child they asked to see her BC, when she was obviously under 2. Better safe than sorry! :thumbsup2

Yikes thats awful.... terrible service when they say children under 2 fly free and then add that burden... it is NEWS to me as I have seriously never had anyone have that issue... nice to learn...although troubling.
