Has anyone had any luck with a chiropractor? My pelvis is not only rotated, but one side is higher than the other, creating about a ¼" leg length discrepancy. I've gone a couple of times now and I feel a bit better, but I'm wondering if massage would be more beneficial. I didn't have any trouble with my ITB until a couple of weeks ago when I ran 18 miles and last Saturday when I ran 20 :( Oh, well I guess I should mention the fact that I squatted 125 lbs. the day before I ran 18 and 130 the day before I ran 20...I know that has something to do with my pain as well. I'm taking at least a week (or two...we'll see) off from weight training to see if it helps.

I have been seeing a chiropractor for about 5 months now. never had been my entire life. I have to say I think I am feeling better---at least I can run and am not in a lot of pain. I don't have your issue, but have problems with the discs in my lower back. I've had a LOT of back issues all my life and maybe if I had seen a chiropractor earlier I wouldn't be in the shape I am now. However, right now I'm going twice a week and at least they support me running. Good luck!

Thanks! I went to my regular MD the other day, who agreed with my ITBS self-diagnosis, and recommended that I see a PT 2x/week for a month. He thinks a PT will be more equipped to handle my situation. My first appointment is Monday - woo hoo!

Getting ready to go do 16 miles now...only 10 more weeks until the race!! :D

I was just going to suggest PT, In PT now 3x aweek for my hip. Allowed to run but short distances and stop if I have any pain. but at least I can Thank goodness both my doctor and PT are runners :) :)

Well, the 16 miles was successful, but I did have to stop and stretch after each hour (the treadmill at the gym only lets you do 60 mins max). Before I started, I talked to the guy at the front desk and he said to go and stretch in the sauna after I finished because it would help loosen up my muscles even more. I figured it was worth a shot, and wow I'm glad I took his advice! I know I ran 4 miles less today than last Saturday, but I can actually walk and do stuff around the house this afternoon!

That's excellent advice on the sauna! I would also recommend massage and a foam roller (or rolling pin or whatever --I've used a thermos while away from home). I went down on Sept. 30 and didn't realize it was my IT band and foolishly ran home on it. So, I scoured the web for common themes among success stories at coming back from ITBS. Foam roller, myofascial release massage were top of the list. You may want to augment your recovery by adding those in as well. Good luck! :sunny:

Very impressed you were able to run 16 yesterday. Ran 5 today but did stop for 5 minutes - Coach and someone had to stop for the bathroom. It was so cold this moring that I tightened up. I then stayed to talk to others. Not good I could barely walk for about 2 hours. Thank goodness for PT tomorrow morning, since I am still a little stiff
