It would have been our 10th yr Anniversary...I feel..

Follow your heart.....if it leads you to WDW, than GO! Missing a few days of school to make a long weekend trip for the "celebration" of your life together is important for you and your children.
On a personal note, my thoughts are with you, as I know this will be a very difficult day for you......maybe trying to put a joyful spin on that milestone is exactly what you and your family needs.

Being with family on such an important date is way more important than a couple days of school... that's just my opinion. 2 or 3 days missed is nothing in comparison. THeir teachers will understand.

I would go if that is where you find peace and joy in the memory of your husband. Enjoy planning your next trip ;)

I think you should go.......take a long weekend, take the kids out of school for a couple of days, you need this time for you! Get their school work ahead of time and be a family during this important time in your life.

I rarely take my son out of school but this sounds like a great reason to miss school. Good luck and

Thanks guys for your kind words. T&B, that is a nice suggestion. We can even do that in Disney. This 10 yr Ann. is a special occasion for me and this would also mark his 3rd yr death Ann. He passed away 2 days before our Ann. at WDW. So I would like to be there at WDW to celebrate his "life" as well as our Wedding Ann. Thanks everyone for being there to listen to me and your support.

I'll be there on Dec. 11th. It's my dd's 5th birthday. I'm planning to be at the meet as well. I hope you have a good visit and that it makes you feel closer to your dh. We'll be there for you at the meet if you need us. Take care.

Maybe I will make the DIS meet, I don't know we will see. it depends on how I will feel that day. Thanks for the offer.

go, go go go go!!!! if your heart tells you that is what you need, then do it!

any human with a heart would understand; if you explain to their teacher and or/ principle if you have to, then i'm sure any tests could be rescheduled.

this is a meaningful event for you and them; go. celebrate his life and remember him with love; and comfort each other in a place that brings you happiness.

i believe with all my heart that your DH would be very proud of you.

big hugs,
geek

Follow your heart....

Personally I think its a wonderful idea.

:grouphug: I think you should go to WDW too. I can't think of a better place to celebrate his spirit than the place where it all started.

Oh my...You guys are making me teary here. It's ok...I'm ok...I appreciate all those warm comforting words ..very lovely. Thank you everyone.

Why would you need a long vacation to go to WDW, didn't you move to Florida?

I would personally be very sick of WDW if I had gone so many times already, I mean, how many times can you go on the same rides over and over? So that is my personal opinion - I would NOT go again.

I am so sorry you are going through this, I guess it never gets any easier does it?

Oh no...it won't be a long vacation. It will just be a long weekend. I just want to celebrate it there. No, I decided not to move to Florida.

This is my first time hearing anyone say here on the DIS Board "I would personally be very sick of WDW if I had gone so many times already, I mean, how many times can you go on the same rides over and over?" I thought we were all Disney Nuts..but I guess I was wrong.

No, we are not necessarily going to ride the same ride over and over again. We may just be there lounging in our resort or maybe just walk along the Main Street, or maybe we will just go to Downtown or maybe just watch the animals at AK. I don't know what we will be doing. But whatever it is, I know I will be reminiscing the times when my DH was still around and just feel his spirit around us. :(

Please don't pass judgement on *Fantasia*.

Our military has protected our freedoms for 200+ years so we can spend our money as we wish!

This is not a thread about how to spend money, but how to remember a lost HUSBAND and FATHER who passed away much too early.

This is a situation I am sure none of you want to be in, so please don't judge until you walk in her shoes!

I think 6 trips to WDW in two years IS excessive. There are other places to visit in the USA...the Great National Parks are a good starting place...The Smokies, the Grand Canyon etc. Although we love to go to WDW, we also travel to lots of scenic destinations every year.

Those are nice places to go, I've been to other places besides WDW when I was young. My husband has never been anywhere else with me, except Myrtle Beach and WDW and here in Michigan. So, I don't know if going to Grand Canyon will give me have that special feeling, I don't know if that's the place I can celebrate or want to celebrate our ann or celebrate his life.

My neice who lives in Cali, who is about 25 minutes away from Disneyland, drives to DL just about every weekend or whenever she and her bf is off. They are Disney fanatics too. They never get tired of Disney. Sometimes they do rides/attractions and sometimes they just go there to eat. I guess it's not excessive to them.

Celebrate it how you would like. We spent 20 days in WDW in the last year. I would go again but I can't afford it right now. I don't know how long I'd have to stay to be tired of it.

Our last trip was spring break and we left less then a week after my FIL passed away. It was theraputic for us to be there and throw ourselves into WDW.

A weekend together with your kids that holds special memories for you sounds great to me.
