If you want to get into specifics there are 2 types of HD tv too!!!We've picked out a replacement for when our current model expires on us through heavy viewing ,that meets DH's technical requirements, he did tell me the specs on the one he wants I just can't recall them at the moment. I do know that it's not just an ordinary HD tv. Oh middle age is creeping in fast!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Any takers from you techie people?? :rolleyes1

720P (progressive scan) and 1080i (interlaced) all HD ready screens will do both.
The true HD will appear in the next few years on general sale which will be 1080P

At the moment you can get a screen at around £30,000 to do 1080p :earsboy: :earsboy:

Exactly that's why we'll wait !!

Its like any new product wifey, whenever you jump in, "the next big thing" is just around the corner, go for it now and jump in again sometime in the future :) :)

For example, SKY Hd will appear the end of this year but will be only in 720P or 1080i, and the two foremats for HD DVd have yet to fight to the death.

BUT, the SKY will blow normal digital TV away even at the above formats :earsboy:

Is there any concrete news as to what type of digital output connection the Sky HD box will have? Will it have an analogue output (component) as well?

Yes, pictures of the initial box have been released by SKY.
According to the blurb, the initial boxes will have both HDMi and Component out, but aftre those boxes, it will be HDMi with copy control only.
Small picture of the box here

Thanks for the link. Is it just a Sky digibox then and not Sky+? Unfortunately, our Panny Plasma doesn't have digital inputs though it does have component which would make the Sky HD box attractive to enable a better picture.

No the rumours are that its SKY+ with a 250GB HD!

Wow! One sexy bit of kit then. I wonder what it is going to retail at? My current Sky+ is coming up to 2 years old and only has the standard hard drive, 250 GB would be fantastic. :)

Hmm I think you've got off the subject a little, let's stop the discussion and let wilma-bride have her thread back again!!!
BTW Wilma -bride i hope you enjoy your stay and please tell us all about it when you get your land legs back after your trip :flower:

That's all right - feel free to hijack my thread ;)

I will have a great trip, I'm sure. Only 13 days to go until this one as well :Pinkbounc

You will have a fantastic time and can leave Orlando knowing you will be back next year too, makes it a whole load more easier leaving knowing that. :)

Bev, I know, it will make it a whole lot easier to come home, knowing I have another trip to look forward to :Pinkbounc
