Hi! Im here! ive read everything you've posted so far but didnt get around to posting until just now! I would have been a disaster if that happened to me (the hair and makeup) I went to beauty school and always do my own hair because I dont trust anyone else to do it. I am interested to find out who was calling. I am almost hoping it was the photography company because I dont want to think that anything bad happened to your grams.

2. The photographers, The Roots.


Thoughts regarding the situation up to this point:

-I was devastated and completely disappointed. Dbf didn’t understand and I felt frustrated about that. I am a complete girly girl, how can I truly love photos when I HATED my hair and make up? No matter how good the photographers, they can’t photo shop my whole entire look.
-Should I have said something, YES, but there was NO TIME. NO TIME to change it.. what was there to do? I don't know.
-I honestly felt ugly and completely not me.

UP NEXT: Did I mention it was 'misting rain' outside? Who called? (It's not who you think!!)

I"ll post a couple... I guess i shouldn't tell you i'm going again on August 21st here in Town with a bunch of girls from work.. but we just got cheap tickets this time around because we've seen the circus once already.

She was soo good live and absolutely beautiful.. her photos DO NOT DO HER JUSTICE. I'm so sorry she didn't come to near you.. although i dont think that was really her choice.

That's exactly it, "IT WASN"T ME" and it wasn't what i had asked for!!! Why would anyone want photos taken of themselves if even before they left the room, they didn't look like them? I can now related to all those pople who said it wasn't them.

I"m choosing to NOT give out her name because she was incredibly sweet, easy going, a truly kind person.. maybe she was just having an off day, maybe she was a little stressed out because she was late.. I dont know.I really don't feel comfortable doing that. If your using Beaute Speciale for your hair and make up for weddings, I would assume you'd get either Veronica or Ana... and besides the comments of "it just wasnt' me"(which really could happen with any make up artist companies .. I have never heard anything bad.. this is why i went with them!!

Grams went for Chemo on Friday morning, it normally hits her about 3-4 days afterwards.. which is today.. so as usual i'll giver a quick phone call. Were going to see her this coming weekend tho...

Oh.. She FINALLY has choosen a wig to wear.. it was expensive.. but worth it. I"ll share the shopping excursion photos and the final choice once i can get the pictures uploaded.. she looks beautiful tho. It's really giving her the confidence to get back to church, the girls soccer games and going for coffee here and there!! Thank you for asking,

WARNING: NO PICTURES and my thoughts are ALL OVER THE BOARD in this one...

P.S. I think I forgot to mention a HUGE factor, it was raining. It started out pouring before the make up artist had even arrived. PRIOR TO MAKE UP.. I was freaking out because I had been so excited about these darn photos and now it was going to be rained out. HOWEVER, Roots told me in an email that only 3 photo shoot’s during their whole 3 years in business had been rained out… so that was pretty good odds… and let’s be honest it’s Disney.. it usually pours for 15-20 minutes and then you don’t see any for a couple of hours. I knew there was a 30% chance of showers this day. I was expecting it but I was hoping the 3 hours would be enough to get it out of it’s system.. BOY WAS I WRONG!!


Literally 2 minutes after she walked out the door, I peaked outside to see if the rain had died down and it did. It was just misting out… I was sooo relieved and as I was just finishing putting my top on.. I heard Dbf’s phone ring…..

It was ROOTS​

Dan answered and by the sound of his half of the conversation it sounded like they wanted to cancel because all I hear “ is that I’m going to let Racheal make that decision, here she is”

AHHHHH….OHHHH….NOOOO

(In hind sight, I should have just agreed and cancelled the shoot right there and then)​

I got on the phone and we talked. I got the impression that they would have preferred to simply cancle the entire shoot.. but we really both wanted some photos taken. The weather at pop was only now a slight mist of rain.. My thought was we could at least just meet and give it a try.. in all of our experiences it only ever rains for a little while. Eventually, in the end, it was decided that we would now meet at only one location, The Polynesian and hope to get a couple of good shot. If the weather would permit it we would then travel to the GF. It was the complete opposite of our wishes; we really wanted to do both locations and end with the sunset at the Polynesian… but the weather was beginning to cause some problems…

By this time, we were 10 minutes behind schedule and we hadn’t even gotten on Disney transportation system yet. I grab the umbrellas, my purse and we walked over to the classic hall. We had to catch a cab…

There were a couple of them already waiting at POP, so we hopped in. AS IF things couldn’t be worse at this point, let’s re-cap:

-It was pouring out
-Hair and Make up were late
-I hated my hair and Make up
-Roots possibly wanted to cancel, change of plans for the photos

On the cab ride over, WE HAD THE SLOWLEST DRIVER IN HUMAN HISTORY. I just couldn’t believe how slow he was driving. EVERYONE, including WDW buses, were passing us. ARUGH.. I was so aggravated. During the cab ride, we had plenty of time to talk. Dbf kept reassuring me that I looked beautiful and that everything would work out for the better.

We started to notice, that the closer we got, the harder the rain was(so much for everything working out for the better:S). We finally pulled up to The poly and we paid the driver without saying thank you. I now felt bad for not canceling the shoot because I could see what they were talking about, it was like 1000 times worse at the poly then over at POP. We met in front lobby to the right and took some photos.

It was raining during the whole hour we took photos, some photos were taken with the umbrellas and holding my purse (I really didn’t want my purse in the photos, but nothing you can really do) all around the Polynesian. They did mention a couple of times they have never really shot in the rain before.. :S Ohhh.. we truly did feel appreciative that they were making an effort with us in the rain. Nathan was really good at giving us direction on how to pose i.e. what to do… we’ve never done this before.. so that was really sweet.

Half way through, they suggested we head over to the GF. We took the monorail and they drove over. Once we got to the GF, I headed to the washroom, took one look in the mirror and could have had a huge melt down there.. I came out to Dbf … who seemed so

MY HAIR AND MAKE UP WERE TEN TIMES WORSE FROM WHEN WE LEFT THE ROOM. The humidity and the rain; especially the rain had soaked my hair FLAT and because I have naturally horribly curly hair, it was like a big frizz ball with too much hairspray.. arugh.. I don’t even know how to describe it or even express how even more upset I was at this point.. the rain had just killed my hair.. completely.

I tried to put a clip in it… but I wish I hadn’t because once we got back to the hotel I took a photo of my hair to show how horrible I looked for my family and I hate the way it looks with a clip in it…

Basically, not ONLY did I not love my hair prior to our departure from the hotel room.. I now HATED my hair even more and am not even looking forward to seeing the photos at the GF because things just got worse.

I should add that I wore black, silk dress pants from Club Monaco. The rain caused the bottoms to stretch out about 5” too long from my high heals and it was like I was a bag lady with 6” of extra material near my feet.

I give up, on the photos altogether. I’ll be completely shocked if I like them. I am not saying I’m not going to like Root’s work….because one thing is for sure.. we love their work or I wouldn’t have contacted them. I just don’t like the way I looked throughout it. I really just don’t see how I’m going to love the photos.

We said goodbyes and we took a cab back to the hotel. We really didn’t talk to each during the cab ride; I think we were just letting the last 3 hours sink in. At some point, I asked dbf to send Roots a quick text message, Just to show our appreciation for working with us in the rain and to thank them. We NEVER did get a response back.

During this cab all I could think of was that I should have cancelled everything, I would saved myself close to 500 dollars and the heartache. Truthfully, my heart was hurting. I cannot express or type out to everyone enough times how excited we were for these photos.. I wanted to hang a couple up around the house, use some for our Christmas cards, give some to family as gifts…

Arugh…

Just thinking of how horrible that whole experienced went.. it stressed me.. it STILL stressed me out because I don’t have photos to show everyone and I haven’t seen them. We were told 3 weeks.

Yes, I should have cancelled everything, but it was too late now. Now, I tried to focus on the fact that Dbf had a surprise coming up. A surprise, which I had been planning for more than a couple weeks. I was so excited for him…

UPNEXT: PLEASE JUST LET THIS DAY END: Visit to the Concierge desk or should I say our stay at the concierge desk and Dbf’s surprise OR NOT…………
