note. I posted this on the end of the other Micheal more thread as well, but I thought it deseavred its own thread
Beleive it or not, The contract contraversy over Fahrenheit 911 was a stunt by Micheal Moore to get publicity. He has known for a year that Disney would not distibute the film.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3565069&thesection=news&thesubsection=world

And for those who say Disney should honor their contract with Moore, Disney claims there was never a contract to distribute the film.

"Moore told CNN that Disney had "signed a contract to distribute this [film]" but got cold feet. But Disney executives insists there was never any contract. And a source close to Miramax said that the only deal there was for financing, not for distribution."

Since Moore lied about when he found out that Disney wont distribute the film, it wouldn't suprise me if he lied about the contract to. Why anyone respects or listens to this man is beyond me.

Does Michael Moore have any credibility with anyone anymore? I don't even think the liberals want to hear from him these days. He's such a grandstander.

Contracts are trixie things at best and certain terms may be implied or inferred without the need for written confirmation (I think this works in US law). If Moore formed part of the cntract under the belief that implied terms existed (when Disney did not) he could be forgiven this (again, I believe this is the case in US law; it certainly is in UK domestic and EU law).

Not that I'm automatically trying to defend the man; I know very little of him. But I am curious as to the 'contract' side of the matter - I do study the subject after all! :p

Are you kidding me? Liberals love him & always will. They never let the FACTS get in the way of their opinion. They survive by by lies & getting the gullible to follow along with the lies. He epitomizes what they stand for. He IS liberalism.

Since this isn't the debate board, I won't even bother to say that what you just said about liberals describes every last REPUBLICAN I know.

But I won't say that. Cause this isn't the debate board. :teeth:

Michael Moore created a stunt to get more publicity? No ... that CAN'T be true. :p

I wasn't entering into a debate. I was answering a question. There is no debate. I do find it funny that by not bothering to say what you said, you were, in fact, saying it. For the record, The same thing does apply to some republican, but to all democrats. I am neither.:D

Luv2Roam,
Since my name is Dan as well, I'll assume you were talking to me! jk.:D

First of all, if you're not a liberal (as I gather from your rantings - and your flat out SAYING you're not - that you're not), then how can you answer that question? It wasn't posed to you. I don't think it was posed to anyone. I actually think it was rhetorical.

Second of all, obviously I said it! It was some sort of attempt at humor.

And lastly, my comments (and your own, for that matter) really were not appropriate for a rumors and news board. That would be why I put the "debate board" line - since that's really where these types of discussion belong.

Actually, the question was "Does Michael Moore have any credibility with anyone anymore? I don't even think the liberals want to hear from him these days. He's such a grandstander."

It did not ask for a liberal to answer the querstion.

It was posted to "ANYONE". I'd think we all fit that description. You think it was rhetorical...A tenent of liberalism is to presume they know what people think and what is best for them because others are incapable of knowing for themselves. I understand where you are coming from.

If your comments are not appropriate, why do you keep posting them. I know mine were, since I was answering a direct question. I was not responding to someone elses's response. Now I am responding to direct response to my posting.

Also, I understand it was an attempt at humor.

My mistake! I thought that when the fact that you answered FOR liberals that the question had been posed TO liberals.

A tenent of liberalism is to presume they know what people think and what is best for them because others are incapable of knowing for themselves. I understand where you are coming from.

That's a pretty bold statement since I have never stated whether I'm conservative or liberal

If your comments are not appropriate, why do you keep posting them. I know mine were, since I was answering a direct question.

I keep posting them because you keep responding! Yours weren't appropriate. Answering for yourself would have been appropriate, but to answer on behalf of all liberals? Not so much appropriate. Your comments were cheap shots at liberals, and belong on the debate board, as do mine.

And with that, I shall unsubscribe from this thread so as not to continue the off-topicness. :)

I did not answer for any or all liberals. Once again, the question was addressed to anyone, not just liberals.

it was not a bold statement, it was a statement of the obvious.

My post was entirely appropriate. It answered a direct question. My follow-ups were a direct response to you. If you determine an accurate descritption to be a cheap shot, maybe it is time to reconsider your positions. Have a zip-a-dee-do-dah day!:wave2:

Are you kidding me? Conservatives hate him & always will. They never let the FACTS get in the way of their opinion. They survive by by lies & getting the gullible to follow along with the lies. He epitomizes what they hate.

not only witty, but original!:hyper:

All right, ladies & gents... This is starting to resemble a debate board kind of topic, not a rumors & news topic. Let's keep it on topic, or I'll move the thread.

Ever feel like you've killed a conversation..?

Just kidding Sarangel :D

Thank you Sara sometimes you just have to smack Puppykins and Demicats on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. :-)

Now a more interesting discussion might be to speculate on whether Mr. Moore, The Big ME and Mssrs. Weinstein sat down at Denny's :-) for breakfast one day last year and decided that it would be best for all involved if it played out in the press just exactly the way it is playing out right now so that they could all play their prescribed roles, but gather enormous publicity for the film (which I am sure The Big ME actually agrees with personally) without Disney Inc. getting 'splashed' by the film's politics.

I mean really - how many people are going to want to go see such an overtly political film anyway? The publicity it has received will probably double the ticket sales it could have expected.

So - anybody know who is releasing the film now? And more importantly does anbody know who REALLY owns that company??

I don't know what's with my M-in-L, but she says she's boycotting Disney because of their censorship of Michael Moore's Film** She's the worst Grandma anyway, but really** I plan on taking her Grandchildren to DW many times after our 1st visit later this year, and she's already stated that she will never go with them!! We dragged her and my F-in-L to Disneyland when my son (then, their only Grandchild) was an enthusiastic 6years old. On both days, they were done by 5pm!! Pretty creepy, huh? They kept complaining about the food and she was as cheap as can be. We paid for admission and drove them down there!! Unfortunately, my parents have passed away, so they're it!! Who is this Michael Moore that she's using as an excuse to never go to /buy anything Disney? Pretty creepy, huh?! Sorry, had to vent!!!

I met him several years ago at a lecture book signing (before he went waaaay off the deep end like he has) and he was a real jerk to everyone who came to see him. He was rude, barely looked at people.

I work for a company the published a few of his books (please do not ask me which ones). He is a real pain in the butt to work with. He is very arrogant, he required small , hard up for cash bookstores to order minimum amounts of his books or he'd cancel. He canceled a ton of his book signings anyway leaving the bookstores with lots of overstock books they then had to send back (and pay for freight at).

Most of the appearrances he canceled were at small, indie bookstores. He didn't seem to have a problem with the huge ones that could offer the biggest book sales.

Hmmm....
