The cast - Helen 33, has obsessive compulsive Disney planning disorder,
Ric 33, LSH or long suffering husband who would rather go skiing
Mum and Dad 68, persuaded to come along for week 2
Day 4 - Tuesday April 25 2006
Got up and made pancakes and maple syrup for brekkie. None of the messing about with eggs and milk though, these were from the freezer section of Publix but did the job just fine.
After a lazy day yesterday we were looking for something to do today so I suggested Busch Gardens which is about 60 miles away. I had last been 10 years ago and Ric had never been. Ric doesn't really like big scary rides all that much as he doesn't like anything with a big drop. Sometimes if you catch him on the right day he will have a go but today he wasn't in the mood to ride anything not even the non scary stuff. Luckily queues were non existant today. The longest wait was 10 minutes for Sheikra which is the newest ridewith 2 90 degree vertical drops. My idea of heaven, Ric's idea of hell.
After Sheikra I got soaked on Tidal Wave, Walked straight onto Kumba and then the pair of us went on Rhino Rally which is Busch's version of the safari. We were feeling hot and a bit peckish by now so we decided to find a nice air-conditioned restaurant. We ate in the Crown Colony Restaurant which was a sit down restaurant overlooking the area with the animals. No ADR required 6 months in advance which made a refreshing change. Ric had a Chicken Salad which was HUGE and I had a catch of the day sandwich with fries and we both had a fizzy drink. This came to $27 before tip. After lunch we went to have a nosy at the chimps and gorillas and then I went on the wooden coaster Gwazi. This was my first ever time on a wooden coaster and it was good fun. It was now 2.45 so we decided to call it a day and drove back to Siesta Key getting back at 4pm.
We went to an internet cafe so I could check my emails to see if I had a respose from US Rentacar. Despite the problems we had with the booking they left a message on my mobile and sent me a mobile and were very good at trying to see what had gone wrong and how the problem could be rectified. Because of this I would use them again.
The sun was still baking hot so we had some time at the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
The sunsets on Siesta Key and the Gulf coast are amazing (or so I heard) so we drove 5 minutes down to Turtle beach to catch one for ourselves. It was very romantic listening to the waves and watching pelicans dive for fish before watching the most spectacular sunset ever.
We then went back and had dinner and a nice bottle of wine on the porch
