To those who have participated in this thread, thank you. In reading the 7 pages so far there has been too many to respond to that I have wanted to. Many stories have touched my heart. To those who are struggling with how God can help in less important ways for some, and seem to not be there for other prays I am sorry. I too have struggled with this, and I think it is something most believers do.

My mom has about 3 jokes and she tells them over and over.

One is about the man who prayed every day to win the lottery. After years of praying he finally got an answer, loud and clear. "Help me out, buy a ticket." It is her reminder that for God to answer our prays we need to do work too.

I don't believe God thinks that one persons papers are more important then the tragedies that have happened in this world. That doesn't mean he doesn't answer prays. There is more to say, but my mind is foggy this late at night and so many have said it much better then I can already on this thread.

Aunt Polly, we had a joke once that I would say you were a Ray of Sunshine.

I may have said it before, but I truly know it in my heart now.

Thanks. Same goes for any time I find a penny. I pick it up and thank my dad. It was his sign for me that he would be thinking about me from beyond. And any time I see a butterfly I say hello because I know that's him. *shrug* I believe in Angels, not necessarily the saints, as I wasn't raised Catholic, but I've seen somce VERY interesting things in my life that I can't begin to explain. I do believe that we have emmisarys between us and the heavens... who are they? What are they? I don't know, and I don't attempt to guess.. I'm just happy they're there.

Where was God when Adam Walsh was getting his head cut off? Where was God when Jessica Lunsford was buried alive clutching her purple stuffed dolphin? Or when the people were jumping from the World Trade Centers? Shall I go on?

For those who believe, do you really think he is like "Well, Jessica, sorry you are gasping for air as the dirt is being piled upon your head. I have to help people find papers that they have misplaced"

Not to me. Not everyone believes in God. This is actually silly to some. Like believing Santa and the Tooth Fairy really sneak into one's home

Because people aren't stupid. They realize that you need to work as a group to survive and gain enjoyment from your life. The "golden rule" is the basis for civilization. If you aren't part of the/a team in some sense, you aren't going to make it very far. But that rule is just common sense.

'Again as you say, doc, i am not all knowing. Never claimed to be. Never claimed to know the reason. Only that I believe there to be one. May not be evident now. But minor goods h ave come of her death. Not the outweigh the bad type, but some good. Whose to say there aren't even bigger reasons yet to be revealed? Or not revealed. We may not need to know the reasons.
