It was a miracle!

I totally believe in prayer and I'd just like to share something that happened at work yesterday.

There were some very important papers. Very important. They weren't where they should have been. I looked through my mail and everyone else's mail a hundred times. Everyone else did the same. We were looking through the same stacks of paper over and over. I was sick. I can't go into detail, but it would have been as close to the end of the world as yesterday could get had they been lost.

While everyone else was on the brink of tears, I stole away for a few seconds and knelt by my desk and just asked God to help us.

I got up, walked back over to the area where everone was looking, shuffled a few papers, and there they were, the important papers.

Everyone was like, :confused3  and then :dance3: !!!

I said," I just prayed that God help us 2 seconds ago!" I could tell some people were  but most of us were just :thanks: thankful to God.

Sometimes it doesn't seem like God answers your prayer because it the help is different than you think it should be, but this time, it couldn't have come any closer to being obviously the hand of God if He had smacked us in the heads!!! :)

Any of you have any miracle stories?

I kinda sorta doubt God steps in to find your lost papers, but lets a little boy be repeatedly raped, then murdered. That would certainly seem like an odd way of prioritizing for an omnipotent, omniscient and loving being.

I'm glad you found your papers though. :)

Wow didn't see that one coming! But thanks for your opinion!

I don't really think that God's grace is something we can explain, but I guess we can debate how God works in our lives if anyone wants to. I just kind of accept it.

Some PD that this positive thread doesn't get turned into a debate.

Glad you found your papers auntpolly :goodvibes !! I definitely believe in the power of prayer! I see God's miracles every day in one way or the other and thank God for his many blessings! :flower3:

The papers were there all the time, so how did the praying make any difference.

All I know is that God helped me - the rest doesn't matter!
OK, so little kids get raped and murdered. 8 million Jews died during the Holocaust, thousands of Americans were murdered in 2001.

God was prayed to, "Please, Lord, don't let my child/husband/mommy be one of the people left in the building when it collapsed. Please let them be alive and come home to me." Or, "Please, Lord, let us find our little girl. Or let her die quickly without suffering." But God didn't step in there. He lets the little girl be raped and buried alive.

What is so special about you that you received his grace and found your misplaced paperwork through divine intervention?

I'm so glad you found your papers, what a relief that must have been. I hope this thread doesn't turn into a debate over the power of prayer.

I, myself, am unsure and I will admit it. I do pray and like to believe that my prayers make a difference. But, then I am scientific by nature and tend to rely more on the concrete. I can't answer the questions that Cool-Beans has posed, and they're valid questions.

Oh well - I don't really think it's we HAVE to know...we just need to go on, being good people, and doing what we need to do.

I do have a cool story though. I was baptized when I was 13, and my grandma gave me a beautiful gold cross on a necklace. She died several months later. The necklace has always been very special and meaningful to me because it was the last thing she gave me.

When I was in high school, I somehow lost the cross off of the necklace. I was sick. I looked everywhere - EVERYWHERE! I canvassed my room inch by inch for weeks. I couldn't even tell my parents because I was so horrified by what I had done. :guilty:

One morning I woke up, and before even opening my eyes, I prayed, "God, please let me find this cross today." I was sleeping on my stomach so I was kind of looking at the floor. I opened my eyes and I was literally looking straight at the cross, laying on the carpet. I could have wept with relief!

Could it be a coincidence that my line of sight was on the cross? Of course. Could have been God? I believe it could have. I don't think God put the cross there, but I do believe that he opened my eyes in just the right way and MADE me see it.

I guess it you don't believe in God, if you don't believe God answers prayers, it would be hard to swallow, but if you do, it's useless to think this way.

Bad things happen. There is evil in the world. When I pray, I'm not saying magic words that cast a spell - I just ask God for help. I think all prayers are answered, but they don't always get answered the way we want them to.

Like, if I want a new job, I can't say, "God,get me the new job" so much as I can say"Help me God, show me what I need to do."

I guess I hear ministers say that you can pray for money and stuff these days, but I disagree with them.

I don't know why there is evil in the world - but I do believe God answers prayers. And I really can't tell you the details, but if these papers had been lost, it would have been disaster for someone.

If you hadn't found your papers, would someone have to hear that their daughter was raped and then buried alive? Doubtful.

I'm just wondering what kind of God it is you believe in that steps in to find misplaced paperwork for you, but lets other people suffer so horribly.

Don't you think that would seem like an odd way of prioritizing?

I do believe in God. And I don't know why he allows people to suffer so. I just can't believe that while allowing the suffering, he deems your paperwork important. Doesn't make any sense. And if it were true, I wouldn't love him or trust him.

Absolutely! I'm not saying that God performed a magic trick - just that he helped me and I really don't care how he did it! :)

For your skeptics, I don't know how to answer your questions.

The Bible says "Ask and you shall be given". It doesn't say what you will be given - sometimes it's not what you expect!

Seek and you will find! :)

This could be the silliest prayer post I've seen.

Are you telling us that the papers weren't on your desk, and then miraculously (as in the red sea parting), they suddenly were on your desk?

I'm converted.

Whenever something is missing I pray to St. Anthony ("Dear St. Anthony, look all around, something is lost and can't be found.") I tell ya, as corny as it sounds, only once did I not find what I was looking for and in that instance it was better that I didn't.

Like you, Aunt Polly, I believe in the power of prayer. Miracles happen - even small ones!

God bless you! What a beautiful way to look at the world! I see it the same way - it really helps to remember the little things are really just that. :)

I have two points to make and then I'll disappear because I don't debate or argue.

1. God has a purpose for EVERYTHING...good and bad. Bad things happen to bring out the good in others.

2. The ONLY way to heaven and life after death is through UNCONDITIONAL belief in the Lord. He gives us grace as a GIFT...the only requirement is that we believe in Him. He told us that.

That's all I have to say about it. No debating here.
