Yesterday was they day my long time friend came over to Orlando for a day of golf. Like I said in a previous post it had been 15 years since we had been on the course together. He brought his now 20 year old son Alex. It was do hard to imagine that he was just 6 when I saw him last.....He's just about a grownup !! He has turned into a very nice young man. I never doubted he would.

They got here about 5 p.m Sunday and I met them at The Swan and we headed over to ESPN for dinner. Another friend of ours that lives in Orlando, Tommy and his wife Laura met us there. We ate, told lies and had a laugh a minute. After dinner we took them over to EPCOT for a spin on Test Trac and to watch Iluminations. They were very impressed by the show. (who wouldn't be).....After the park closed we sat down on the Boardwalk for a bit then we all headed off to get some sleep before the long awaited day of golf!

I picked Bobby and Alex up at 6:45 A.M. yesterday morning and we headed over to LBV golf course. We met Tommy there and we were all set to go....The 1st 18 holes we just had a few team matches that ended all tied after we finished. Figures huh? We went to Saratoga Springs and ate lunch then headed out for the 2nd 18 of the day. Did I forget to remind myself that it was HOT in Florida????

The 2nd 18 was the best. The young guys decided to take on the old guys and raise the stakes just a bit. Well the old guys took care of the youngsters pretty handily!!! ::yes:: Even with one team losing a bit of cash to the other we all had a blast.

So the day was over and after going inside and cooling off some the hard part was there. Time to say so long....:( A day and a half can't make up for 15 years, but it was all we had so we made the best of it. Poor Alex must have thought his father and I had lost our minds as we stood in front of the Swan hugged each other and cried........15 years was too long.......he understood ....he remembered from when he was just a little boy.
His dad and I were the best friends.....There was a tear or 2 from Alex too.

We promised that this would be no less than a yearly visit from now on. We hopped in the cars and I led them to I-4 and off to Tampa they went..... I stopped and watched until I couldn't see the car any longer......It was a GREAT day.....I guess it's ok for great days to end with a lump in your throat and a few tears......

sounds like a wonderful day!!

What a great day Tony!!!! Glad you had a good one and yes, it is okay to end a day with a lump in your throat and a tear (or more) in your eyes as long as they are good lumps and good tears!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing, Tony. Good friends are great, aren't they? Priceless. Make sure you guys keep that pledge in the years ahead.
