It Only Took 5 Months to Finish Trip Report - November 10-26, 2010

Love! Love! Love those Cinderella window displays!
Those displays were my favorite too! I just love Disney's attention to detail. Those mice were so darn cute!

We'll wait patiently. Get better soon, Marie.
Glad you haven't given up on me yet. DS and I are still re-cooping and probably heading to the doctor again in the morning. This stuff just doesn't want to let go. I decided this evening that I had just enough energy to post a one day update. Enjoy!

Day 4, November 13, 2010

The time change has really been messing with my brain’s idea of when I should sleep. I’ve been waking up about 6:30-7 every morning. This morning I decided to go down and grab some of the free breakfast the hotel has to offer. I decided while I was already down there that I should stop in at the lobby to use the computer to check my e-mail. I am glad I did! After wading through tons of junk e-mail I found one good message from SherryE saying that she would be at Disneyland sometime today. Oh boy! I was so excited! So fun to be heading to the park with a prospect of meeting up with one of my fellow Disney peeps! Now I just have to hope I actually can hear my phone if it does indeed ring! Under the circumstances, I decide I might want to go ahead and make my way to the park before half the day is over. Thanks to the thundering feet of neighboring children outside our room the guys get woke up early and we are indeed able to make it to the park quite early for us. There actually wasn’t much of a line at the gates this morning so I figured it meant that we still must have been late enough to miss the big morning rush.

Once we were inside the gates DD decided we should make our way over to the horse drawn carriage. Poor timing for us though because we got there just as they took off to switch out the horses. Oh well, another time. Down Main Street we went. We noticed some of the windows along the way. My DD spotted a package in one window with her name on it.

We made a brief stop in the Market House and made it in front of the castle just in time to catch the opening day show. We all really enjoyed it ! In all the years we have been this was the first time we had ever been there at the right time. I do have to say that over the years I have decided that Tom Sawyers Island aka Pirate’s Lair is the hottest place in Disneyland. Now we also know that the spot right in front of the castle is the second hottest place in the park BUT the show was fun so it was worth it.

Next we made our way through the crowd and made our very first trip through the Castle Walk Through. I missed it reopening last year and had been really looking forward to it. It was very nice. The walking area is larger and better lit than I had imagined. I will definitely be making a second trip though when I don’t feel like I am being rushed.

Since we were already in Fantasyland we glanced at the line for PP but again everyone thought the line was too long so we went on Pinochio.

Next we went over to Pirates which had a very long line. We waited about 5 minutes and then the guys decided that we wouldn’t make it in time for our dining reservation so we got out of line and checked in early at BB.

We requested a waterside table and after about 20 minutes we were ushered to the best table we have ever had! DD was mesmerized watching the boats. She is so sweet and innocent. She gave me a chuckle. As she was waving at the passing boats she said “Those people are taking pictures of me and they don’t even know me.” Who knows? Maybe it really was the Blue Bayou Paparazzi! She certainly thought so. DH had the Jambayla, DS had the Salmon, I had the Monte Cristo and DD had the kids Salmon. Everything was great although no one was able to finish their entire portions…. because of course, we had to leave enough room for dessert. Our server amused me when he asked us about dessert. He said he could recommend 2 items but would not recommend the cake because it was always dry. At least he gives his honest opinion. No matter! Our minds were already made up before we ever arrived. BB’s Crème Brulee is our favorite and it did not disappoint this time at all. We thouroughly enjoyed the new one larger vanilla crème brulee topped with a whole batch of lovely berries even better than the assorted trio we’ve had in the past several years. We finished stuffing ourselves and managed to roll ourselves out the front door.

Continued....

DD was determined to ride Pirates so we got inline while the guys took off elsewhere. To prove that we would have had enough time to have waited in line earlier we timed how long it took us to wait in line from the point we had gotten out of line earlier. We came up with 20 minutes which does prove that while the line does look very long it does indeed move quite fast.

While inside on the ride I missed my call from Sherry (stupid quiet phone ringer!) so I immediately called her back when we exited. We made plans to meet at the hub where I recognized her right away. Not only did I get to meet SherryE but 3 other wonderful Dis ladies, Mary Jo, rtobe (Ros) and YellowMickeyPonchos (Nancy) and her family. The parade was about to start so we took the opportunity to talk and got a few Photopass pictures made. I felt like an Amazon woman since I was taller everyone else.

Next we headed over for a group ride on Small World. My DD took charge of shepherding Nancy’s two little girls since she loves children of all ages. We had a busy boat full of photographers snapping pictures left and right. Silly me. I didn’t end up taking any. I enjoyed meeting everyone but it was time to meet back up with my family since we had previously made plans to go see Megamind in DTD. We finished our day with the movie and called it a night.

Marie, I love it. I get a kick out of your daughter. Especially the face she made at her brother when he was taking her picture during the flag ceremony. I am here!!

I've always wanted to eat at BB. I'm jealous. ;) Can you see what you are eating?
Enjoyed the pictures.

Ahhhh yes! Nothing can evoke emotion on her face like being annoyed with her brother!

You really must one of these days! It is our family's favorite at DL and no trip would be complete without it. The ambiance is worth it just as much as the food. And, yes, you can actually see your food... somewhat. I was just trying to be a good girl and not blind anyone with the flash. That's why the pics are so dark. We lucked out and made it there twice on this trip. :woohoo:

Nothing like being iced in for a week to find a little time to update my report! Here goes......

Day 5, November 14, 2010

Up by 6:30 again! I decided I would try to test my skills at getting online with our laptop so I could update the November thread and check my e-mail. I confess I am electronically challenged. On top of that the only time I ever use our laptop is when we are on vacation so it is like a foreign object to me. The first thing I did was forget to put in the D-link so when I went to restart I must have hit the wrong button. The computer didn’t blow up but it did go into some sort of lockdown except for the administrator or owner and required a password. After trying every password I could possibly think of I was about to give up in defeat and suffer the wrath of my DS. However, my determination kicked in again and I decided to give it one more try. Evidently I did something different and broke through the lockout on my first attempt! Finally I got connected and made my update. After the entire incident and the extended time it took for me having to learn how to use the touchpad to navigate I ended up wasting away a good portion of the morning. By the time I finished up and got ready to go to the park it was getting close to 11:00.

This morning was an amusing one. As we were walking into the park DH told us that we were all walking way too fast. So funny coming from him because he is always in a hurry everywhere he goes. Anyway, we tried to humor him because it was really nice to see that he wanted to make an effort to relax and enjoy himself. However, his next statement was that he wasn’t going to make any suggestions for the day and let everyone else pick what to do so we knew he must have a fever or something. LOL! So okay, we’ll go with it and see how long it lasts…. just a hint.... not long.

We made it in the park and made our usual stop at the Market House. While the grown ups are in line DD finds ways to entertain herself.

2755158060102182720S600x600Q85.jpg

Next stop we decided would be the Jungle Cruise. As we pass by DH says we might as well go to the Tiki Room while we are already here so we turn back around and go to watch the birdies. (see that didn't take long)

Continued....

When we were done the guys wanted to take the train over to the monorail to head on over to the RFC for our 1:00 reservation. I am thinking but we haven’t done anything! Of course, we go ahead and start making our way to the train station in NOS. Knowing that we have plenty of time to do something…anything…. we stop off at Tarzan’s Treehouse. DH and DS zip through while DD has to stop and touch everything. Me…. I just take lots of pictures while I wait.

We finally meet up with them at the exit and can tell that they are wondering how in the world it could possibly take anyone so long to go through a treehouse. So much for being leisurely. Clearly we are all on different wave lengths… as we often are when at the park.... and is why we generally end up split in 2 different groups.

Anyhoo... we head to NOS and board the train for Tomorrowland.

When we get off our sub we hop on the monorail and head over to DTD. I check us in at RFC and we get to sit upstairs since we are Safari Club Members. I do believe it is a little less chaotic up there. The food was pretty good but honestly the RFC at WDW beats this one on food quality. The service was also pretty slow. One thing that is the same is the yummy Volcano!

We finished up and decided to head in for an afternoon break and wait to go back later when the heat had died down a bit. We hung out in the room and did nothing. We found Shrek on tv so we watched it.

Somewhere around 6:00 we slowly made our way back to the park. Once inside we took the train around to HM and then on to POTC. The crowds were much lighter in the evening than they had been earlier in the day. We made our way over to check on the PP line but Fantasyland was closed for the fireworks. We rode the Teacups. Then we grabbed a turkey leg for DS and chimichangas for the rest of us. We sat down on the little pier tucked away behind the Edelweiss snack stand that overlooks the water and faces SW. We practically had the area to ourselves… that is until DS started goofing off and had a napkin stuck to his lips which just happened to be about the time a couple of cute teenage girls walked by. He was thoroughly mortified but it gave us a great laugh when it was all said and done. There was one other guy sitting on the pier reading. DS said he thought it looked like a great idea and I have to agree that I think it would be oh so relaxing to just sit and absorb the surroundings while reading a good book. I was certainly impressed that my DS thought so. I do believe he has become a true Disneyland devotee!

It was very close to fireworks time so we decided to stay in our own little private viewing area. The area was FANTASTIC! There were trees slightly obstructing the view in places but we were able to see both the fireworks going off over the castle and the ones going off from Toontown. By the time the show was over we were all really feeling the magic! At the finale we quickly stepped around the corner under one of the snow machines. Magic complete! I have never been a huge fan of staying for the fireworks but I have to say after this experience we have found the spot that truly makes it magical for us!

We quickly made our way over to SW and then finally to PP. While standing in line for PP, DD had something akin to a panic attack and stood in line with her face buried in me the whole time. It was a perfect uncrowded evening in the park. All the lights were amazingly beautiful and I was so enjoying being in such a wonderful mood and would have gladly stayed until closing but after we made it off the ride all DD wanted to do was go home and the guys were tired so off we went. On the way out I showed them the secret bathroom and then we were done. Made it back to the room and watched How to Train Your Dragon and called it a night.

Glad you are here with me!
Ahhhh yes! Nothing can evoke emotion on her face like being annoyed with her brother!

Nothing like that sibling love.:rotfl:

Still really enjoying your report. I haven't seen ourselves yet. :confused3 Gee, with only 20,000 - 40,000 people per park, I'm amazed I haven't seen us. :rotfl2:

I'm really enjoying your pictures. I just love looking at other people's pics and seeing things in a new way. Sorry your daughter had an anxiety attack like that. Has she ever had one before? That line at Peter Pan in certainly one of the most tightly packed with people. The rows are very narrow.

I'm going to start my TR monday I think. I finally got my pics downloaded to my computer, and most of them are on Photobucket now. A question though, when I copy mine into a thread, they are huge. How do I make them the same size yours are? Thanks, and looking forward to more!

I've looked for us in other reports and never found us yet either. I have a whole lot more photos for you to keep looking through so maybe I just haven't caught you YET. ;)
Not sure what has been going on with my DD. She has spent most of her life being bubbly and never meeting a stranger. Some time last year we attended a HUGE sports extravaganza which included my son's Jiu-Jitsu tournament, Karate tournaments, weightlifters, a car show and just a huge bunch of booths and displays. It was CRAZY loud. I think the bodybuilders freaked her out (especially the women) and then she kept seeing a man who had some horrible scars on his face. I am not sure if she had nightmares after that or what but ever since then she has not been the same when we are around crowds. She understands that the poor man couldn't help how he looked and that he may have very well been a nice man but it still shook her up so I can hardly chastise her for something that truly made her afraid. Anyway, I am hoping it is a phase she passes through. She did well most of the time at the park but she did have a couple times when someone made her nervous. I have to admit that there are some pretty scary looking people around sometimes!

I've been busy and haven't had a chance to see if you started your report yet. I wish I could tell you how to resize your photos but I never have used Photobucket much. Their site gives me headaches. :confused3 I find Webshots much easier to use. I am sure someone around here can offer you some tips. (Sherry! Where are you?) Good luck and I hope you get your report going so I can come see if we are in any of your pics! :lmao:

Day 6, November 15, 2010

This morning I decided I would try to have patience about not spending every possible moment in the park and let everyone sleep late and decide when to head out. Apparently this bunch needs guidance! While I am still on Texas time DH can still sleep til almost noon even in another time zone! We stumbled into the park finally a bit before noon.

Actually Emma raced around the poles all the way into the park.
2737447070102182720S600x600Q85.jpg

We decided to take the train around to the back of the park. Before we left the Main Street train station I casually asked if we might be able to ride the Lily Belle, never imagining the answer would be yes! We were told to check back in about 4:10 so we could ride the 4:30 train. COOL! In the meantime, we made our way over to have lunch at Troubador Tavern since DS is thouroughly absorbed in all things German. DS enjoyed his Bratwurst and the place had very nice scenery for lunch. My silly family members took the opportunity to have a few staring contests.
