It Looks Like the Death Numbers are Being Inflated

They, like you or me or anyone, may have been tested and found positive before the accident. It’s also possible that in the investigation it was discovered that they had been having symptoms at the time of the accident. The ME may have then tested first Covid (or presumed them positive depending on the story). I can imagine that someone who was very sick (to the point of needing help oxygenating) may have been trying to drive (to the hospital for help or to the liquor store for their usual daily fifth of vodka) but lost consciousness and crashed.
Alcoholics can get Covid, too... and they’d make especially poor drivers.

Thank you for answering. And that makes a lot of sense.

It seems to me there are going to be a lot of stories that when stated, as the OP stated it, sound a bit out there. But when someone with knowledge such as the poster I quoted here explains things or how things may happen, you perhaps can understand where these stories may come from. As with most things, the truth is there in the middle between “I heard” and “that’s crazy”.
Perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to discount what doesn’t make total sense to us.

That is exactly what you did by starting this thread.

No she didn’t. She simply stated something she was told. She never said it wasn’t a horrible virus that is in fact killing people. She never said no one was dying from it.

I have seen numerous things around that allude to the death numbers being inflated. Not once would I have then thought “oh, see it’s not so bad”.

Interesting... This morning, my mom was telling me that one of her friends posted on facebook about "2 friends who died last week in Michigan. One lived alone and had a heart attack, the other was killed in a drunk driving accident, and the MI government had doctored up their death certs to show that they had died from Coronavirus." When pressed for more details, her friend said "Well, they weren't friends of mine.. I heard about this from another friend.. on a Facebook post."

Honestly, it sounds to me like your son has been doing some reading on Facebook.

(She was telling me this as she was proud that she had done some "fact checking" as the story didn't seem real to her. Way to go mom!)

I second the shut this idiotic thread down motion.

Original poster I defy you to spend a day at my job with me. I’ll show you people all over the place suffocating even with high oxygen delivery. Then you can help me disconnect dead covid19 patients from the machines they were hooked up to. Then after lunch I’ll take you out to the parking lot to tour the 18 wheeler truck used to store the dead bodies. Then you can go home and discuss your day with your son.

Thank you for what you do, but did she at any time say none of that was happening?

Goodness people, no is denying what is happening. Y’all are reading something into her post that isn’t there.

MLIVE, a "news" site out of Ann Arbor, MI has a very similar type of article on their page today, at least about the accuracy of the death numbers from Covid.

How about those who are stressed or too emotional right now with all that is going on avoid social media, or at the very least avoid the topics that you don't want to discuss.
You don't get to tell others what to post or not, just move along and stick to topics you can handle reading about.

As far as the OP not being helpful, if you are coming to a Disney message board for medical advice or any advice about COVID then you are looking in the wrong place for help.
The problem is that people that are stressed and emotional are the ones who are acting the most irrational and posting things that are so void of fact that it is embarrassing. I have a dear friend who has been posting things that are so off the wall I actually am worried about her mental health. I also have a family member that is doing the same thing and it is likely due to her extreme anxiety. The things she puts out there are cringe-worthy.

Of course they are free to post what they want, but I can't help but be worried about the obvious state of distress they are in and the harm they may be causing themselves in reputation. I've largely stopped consuming what they put out there because I am truly embarrassed for them and don't want to see them in that light. I just don't find it healthy to encourage and enable this type of behavior.

https://bringmethenews.com/minnesot...nnesota-covid-19-death-figures-arent-inflated

Here is an article about why Minnesota death rates are not inflated but it DOES say that if suspected to be positive, the cause of death may include Covid 19. Those suspected or presumed or not included in the death rate.

So while it’s possible what the OP was told, it’s not necessarily inflating the death rates. If the same thing is happening In her state.

I wouldn’t assume that anyone posting here or anywhere about something they were told is so anxious that their mental state should be in question. Again, there is usually some truth there somewhere or at least an explanation as to where the story or rumor came from.

Our son knows of two people whose death certificates said cause of death was Covid19, but one died in his home from a heart attack and the other was drunk and got into an auto accident and died from his injuries.
Then surely he should report the Coroner/doctor who signed the death certificate for fraud!

And he didn’t see the death certificates himself, he was just told what they said for cause of death.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. The police said it was COVID-19

Call (edited by CW4D) ) if you want to. I only posted what I was told, and what my son was told from his friends whose family members died. I don’t think they lied about it, what reason would they have for doing so?
My Mother's sister's cousin told me that If I posted everything I was told I'd be a fountain of misinformation.

The difficulty is that everything about coronavirus has become so politicized, and so many conspiracy theories have sprung up around it, that people are seeing an evil agenda in everything. I suspect the handling of infectious diseases on death certificates isn't any different with COVID-19 than it is with, say, the flu, or strep throat. There are protocols for the way that cause of death is determined and documented that are developed by the coroner's office.

And I highly doubt that medical examiners and coroners are going to throw their well-earned reputations out the window and go along with an illegal order to falsify a death certificate for political purposes. That's the stuff of spy movies, not real life.

Actually this has been happening alot. One man brought his mother to hospice care as she was dying from cancer. They put her cause of death as covid. No, she died of cancer. The doctor on Trumps team, I believe her name is Birks, admitted that they have been using covid as the cause of death in lots of instances where the person did not die from covid. People have died from cancer, heart attacks, accidents etc and if they tested positive for covid at death, covid was put as the cause of death. We will never really be able to believe the stats for many reasons and this is just one of them.

Procedures vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. However, it is normal practice for a medical examiner to release a deceased persons body to a funeral home without ever seeing the body in person. If it's a natural death with no suspicious circumstances the M.E. will often not go to the scene. This is especially true in large urban areas. I can definitely see how the death rates might be getting manipulated. Especially when there are financial incentives to report Covid related hospitalizations and deaths. Remember, two months ago a Senator from Arkansas was ridiculed for suggesting this virus was the result of a Chinese lab mistake. That "conspiracy theory" is now more likely to be the cause of this mess.

It's being investigated but to date not much has come out that seems to back up the theory. Interim it seems like we would get more accomplished if we dealt with the known deficiencies (accurate testing) as opposed to the possibilities.

Isn’t this the same as what they would do for the flu or pneumonia? Example; person with cancer comes down with pneumonia and dies. Do they die of pneumonia even though they have been battling cancer? I don’t mean this as argumentative I’m truly asking😊

Wow, do I ever know what you mean. My elder brother, who at age 75 didn't even know how to text on his phone before Covid, much less use FB and post on Reddit, has become a full-blown conspiracy theorist. You put it more gently than I will - he's beginning to sound deranged. And the more bizarre and counter to the official narrative an assertion is, the quicker he is to grab it and run. I pray daily he never finds the DISboards.

I read this on twitter today and saved it
“Getting people to react emotionally prevents them from responding logically and rationally, and makes them easier to manipulate”
I thought of all the conspiracy theories I’ve been seeing on FB lately. People I would never expect it from

Death numbers are not perfectly accurate. Maybe there is 10% that had other cause in addition to covid so maybe should not be included. There are other questions like a cancer patient who was terminal or had high chance of 5+ more years.

Then other people are dying way prematurely to covid and not counted. Bergamo Italy for the first 2 weeks of March first brought the attention of how deaths are under counted. Is it 2 times more, 3 times more? We know this is also happening in NY and NJ among many other areas.

If my family's odds have say a 1 in 1000 chance of death, maybe I'm fine taking that risk. What if it was 1 in 500? 1 in 333? I think people are inclined to accept the best numbers they see when assessing their risk.

People are losing their minds. They need to know when it’s time to disconnect. Tough to do right now, I know.
