It just gets better

Some of you may remember i posted last week that i was having a realy bad week. You were all telling me things can only get better WRONG things have got worse. MIL was due to come home from hospital today. This morning i had a call from their neighbour to say FIL who is 82 had gone and their flat was covered in blood. I phoned the hospital and he was in A&E he had almost cut his ear off we went up to let MIL know what had happened. The flat was so bad we had to get the carpet up and choose another for them and have it fitted before MIL came home. It took us over 5 hours to clean it all up. i had to throw his slippers socks and shirt away i would never get the blood out of them. we think he had got drunk and fallen some where,where we don't know. MIL was heart broken when she saw the mess so much so she is refusing to let him come back home!! It is a huge problem DD is staying with her tonight but she can't stay there indefinately i am going to call social services tomorrow for some advice

MIL is now adament she doesn't want him back home so they are now trying to find somewhere for him to go. Until he admits he has a drink problem and gets help he will carry on doing things like this and lying to every one

how awful for you,: he may need some home care visits, it must be a real worry for you. I hope you get this sorted as I know some authorites are better at this than others.

I am so sorry to hear of all this,my thoughts are with you all.Unfortunatley unless the person involved admits they have a problem and needs help-then no-one can help them .I really hope things get better+sorted out-i really do .x.

A big thank you to all of you. We really do not know which way to turn at the moment we are so stressed and as DH is an only child it all falls on us. I know they are his parents and you do what you can but it would be great to have a sibbling to share the responsibility if you know what i mean.

My dad is in the same situation, last winter my nan left the gas on in the house and when it snowed was sat there in the dark with no heating or anything on, her neighbours called the Police and they came out to see her, opened the windows and turned the gas off etc. My dad is an only child too so he and my mom have to look after her on their own, she refuses to admit that there is anything wrong with her and the GP won't support my parents in helping to diagnose her with a proper illness. It's a sad situation to get into and it's very hard when you are left to deal with it all alone.
