There is a lot of frustration clearly over the new FP+ system. But honestly, what can we do? It is what it is...

There's an old saying, "the will to win is nothing without the will to prepare". Take what's in front of us and prepare the best we can to adjust to the circumstances.

We are all dealt a 'hand of cards' and we never know what we are going to get. We can either fold and give up, or press on and just deal with what we've got. I for one will continue to go to Disney World with my family regardless of the changes that occur.

Life is too short to complain about FP+, but rather we should just enjoy the times we can have together with our families at a place that we all believe is magical.

That's just my two cents....Disney here I come in 4 days!

But...this is a discussion forum. We can discuss. ;)

Have a good time. :goodvibes

Some would equate "folding" in your analogy with simply accepting that there's nothing we can do rather than "fighting the power."

There are a lot of options, including taking our families to other vacation destinations and enjoying their company there.

Good luck on your trip!

Honestly I was just trying to post that same saying on another thread when my computer crapped out.

After reading these FP+ threads for months all I can think is at some point you need to lead (find a way to work the new system), follow (do what WDW wants) or get out of the way(go somewhere else). It's not going to change. The "powers that be" are not going to scrap a $1 billion project because you don't get to ride your special ride 4x in a day anymore. All we as consumers can do is assess the situation and do what is best for us. If you think WDW has no more value to you because of FP+ then do spend your dollars elsewhere. And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that! That is entirely your right. Just as it is entirely someone else's right to work within the system as it is being rolled out now. No person's way or touring is any better or worse than anyone else's.

Personally, I'm tired of all the bickering. Until someone starts a thread with FP+ info I can actually use for my August trip instead of either being a 100% hate thread or 100% cheer squad I'll stick to other threads.

(Rant over...)

"It is what it is" They should put that up over the WDW Entrance Sign. :)
haha totally Disney as a company trying to make a profit is not always going to do what the customers want. Some love this new system some hate it, same with the old system. Petitions have even been started trying to tell Disney to change this but that's never going to work unless a million people sign it and I'm not exaggerating.

But honestly, what can we do? It is what it is. In other words " Thank you sir, may I have another". Really?

It is in the nature of humans to resist change. Any time you see a significant change at WDW, you will see discussions. Some will like the change. Others will not like the change. Debate will ensue. None of these debaters, whiners, or cheerleaders thinks for one minute that these discussions will result in Disney changing things. I don't think for one minute that any of us are that naive.

However.

Just because it is what is is doesn't mean that we all must just roll over and continue blindly following along. Some will find the changes (and I'm not just talking about FP+ exclusively) too much vs what magic is still possible with WDW visits. Those folks will either be severely cutting back on their WDW visits (staying fewer days or visiting fewer times) or stop going altogether because they know that it is possible to have a wonderful vacation elsewhere in the world without all of the hassle that a WDW will now entail.

Life is too short to complain about FP+, but rather we should just enjoy the times we can have together with our families at a place that we all believe is magical.
This is absolutely true. However, for many people, that place may not be WDW.

I am not sure about this. I wonder how things would have turned out if Rosa Parks simply accepted they way things were; if she simply took the attitude that, "It is what it is." She did not. She took a stand, and things did change. Now I know this analogy may be extreme and it is not business related but the point is if we all just sit back and say nothing, then nothing will change. However, if those who don't agree with Disney's new system, they should at least voice how they feel to Disney and shared suggestions. At the very least, their voices were heard. And who knows, maybe, just maybe in the future, Disney will consider things like adding fast passes for those who hold hopper tickets. The suggestion is not totally unreasonable. Yes, it is likely that the new "system" is here to stay but that does not mean Disney will not make changes. You never know!!!

There are several at least. See those I reference in my signature.

I just honestly to do not understand the outrage. I mean, the majority of us were touring Walt Disney World successfully BEFORE the implementation of the original Fastpass System. We survived. I don't doubt that it will be hard getting used to doing things a bit differently, but really!? People are so hot about this issue! :confused3

Yes I agree. Disney won't change a thing based on DISboarders comments. So...are you asking that there be no more threads about disappointment or elation or one family's experience with the new system?

As Mesaboy2 pointed out, there are lots of threads on managing FP+.

I'm not saying you don't have a right to your opinion, I'm just confused about your DISboard expectations around this topic.

All the complaining on some of these boards ranges from amusing to terribly annoying, but whatever - people like to voice their opinions and feel heard and this is a place for them to do that.

My husband and I stayed at POR for a week this past September. It was my husband's first real Disney trip so he was pretty ambivalent about everything, but I'm a lifelong Disney fan and was very excited to get to try the Magic Bands and the new FP+ system (even after reading all the "horror stories" on here). We both really loved everything. The Magic Bands were extremely convenient and we didn't have any issues with them.

We actually liked the structure the pre-booked fastpasses gave our days - although I love planning ahead, I was worried that "ride reservations" would feel too scheduled and constricting and "un-vacationy," but it turns out that we like having a schedule. It was also good since we are also definitely NOT morning people so none of that crazy rope drop business for us! We didn't take advantage of "double-dipping" with paper fastpasses so it doesn't matter to us that it's not an option anymore. Really, I never really used the old fastpass system in general - getting out my card and keeping track of the little paper ticket always just felt like a hassle. Maybe it's because I grew up going to Disney before they existed because dealing with lines just kinda feels like what you do there.

I can see why the new system isn't ideal for everybody and doesn't fit everybody's touring style, but from my perspective as an on-site guest who was happy to plan ahead, it was great. We ended up taking a 2nd trip this fall and have a third planned for May. I guess we're probably Disney's ideal customers since it really does work for us, we're more than happy to accept and deal with their system.

Anyway, not sure if my experience is useful or interesting to anybody, but just thought I'd share!

At the risk of being labeled a "Kool-Aid Drinker," I completely agree. The system seemed at times during our December 2013 trip to have been designed for us, it worked so well. The Magic Bands were fantastic, and so was FP+. I get why some people are unhappy with this new system, I really do. It's just that for us, we were happy to give it a try-we stayed at All Star Movies the week they stopped giving out KTTW cards to their guests and we were a bit worried, as it turns out, for nothing. Even with the crowds (now *that* was a surprise for the second week of December), we toured very efficiently and happily. It turned out to be the best trip we'd ever had to the World. :goodvibes

~Very well said! I totally agree, you have such an amazing attitude. I hope you have a fabulous vacation at Disney World. I wish I was going right now! :goodvibes

~Seriously, one of my favorite vacations ever was when our parents took us to Disney World in 1998 for the for the opening of Animal Kingdom. We had an awesome time. I would be miserable if my happiness depended on how many pieces of paper I could run around and collect all day when I'm at a themepark. We're going to have fabulous time no matter what, where, or when -- it's just the way we are. :cool1:

~Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it's extremely useful and interesting. We loved FP+ and Magic Bands and can't wait to head back to WDW. :cool1:

Funny, as one could say the same about the defenders.

The bottom line is that opinions are just that. If people could just stop taking other's opinions on FP+ and Disney so personally...

But...this is a discussion forum. We can discuss. ;)

Especially if one's definition of discussion includes sarcastic remarks that have absolutely no informative value at all...:)

I don't mean you Mesaboy, I'm just joking and your posts are some of my favorite. Your sig. links should all be stickies, and I love how you give credit to the other authors in the links that you didn't write. Keep on keeping on...
