We checked in around 130 yesterday to find out that Pop Warner was scheduled this weekend. It was a huge mess. I will never go near Disney again during Pop Warner. I hope those brats get zits. First off I got bumped out of my water front room and downgraded. That ticked me off beyond belief. I have never heard of being downgraded before.
Then they were noisy as all get out. The boys were playing football in the parking lot yesterday and blocking the road. This morning they were playing in the court yard outside of my room at 8 AM. unfreaking believable. Noisey as all get out. I was just lucky they did not wake my son but they woke hubby and I. After being at MVMCP till late last night and being pregnant with twins I was not ready for that wake up call.
The first room we were given had two beds that were smaller than full size beds. As a pregnant woman I could not sleep in one by myself comfortably let alone with hubby there too. I went back up front and they moved me to a room with a king bed and a roll in shower. They thought I did not want this since I had a toddler but one night with out a bath for him VS not being able to sleep. I also ended up finding the handle bars and higher toliet in the shower supremely useful,
We switched to a late lunch at Konas from Citricos and this was a great move. We shared the pot sticker app. Dh got steak platter which was a country fried steak thing done asian fusion. I had the asian noodle bowl. Both were Delicious. For dessert I had the creme brulee which was nana and chocolate. I was in heaven with that. DH had the Kona cone which was fantastic looking.
We got to the park just after 4 PM. We picked up our tickets from will call. Once inside we got banded and rented my ECV. They also allowed me to buy the purchase with purchase with the rental.
We rode Pirates, Buzz, and Aladdin. We saw the parade and fireworks from really good locations. Baby E hated the fireworks. I am not surprised there. Being in an ECV and being unable to sit on cold metal (so therefor unable to transfer to the bench) We got great seats for Twas The Night show. Do go get in line for that one 45 minutes in advance. The staff is not kidding you on that estimation. It is well worth the wait. We also saw the christmas stage show which is super cute. I told DH I did not care as much about the rides as I did the special shows, He agreed and so all of our time was spent at shows or getting warmed up. It really felt like Christmas on Sunday night.
For breakfast this morning we dropped our ressie as I suspected and ate in the food court at POR, Breakfast was good and the decor in the area was cute. DH wished that we had more time to explore the hotel area itself.
Honestly most of our problems with the hotel itself were Pop Warners fault and not the hotels fault. My only real complaints on Disney's part are the extreme tiny beds in the two bed rooms at POR and the fact that I was forced to downgrade and not offered another option. I have noticed honestly that sometimes the staff follows some kind of routine in a book and lacks common sense in little places. Not a big deal but kind of disturbing.
Over all we had a great time. I will not go on a pop warner weekend ever again. I may send in a note to Disney advising better planning on their part for wild conventions full of largely unchaperoned teenagers. They should perhaps consider looking at how Sci Fi cons handle party and non party floors to see how they can better this situation.
So in closing....
Do not go on Pop Warner Weekend
Do eat at Konas and do not forget dessert there.
I did have a good time.
I do think my experience was bettered by having an ECV in the park and my own car for transportation.
