Here is my plan:

Dates: October 19th to the 24th

We will stay at the Candy Lane Inn

I know we will do DCA and DL.

Has anyone done the extras that Disney offers:
Such as Universal Tour or the LA Tour. I am thinking of adding those on.

Is there any type of waterpark available.

If we eat the free breakfast at the Candy Lane Inn. (Also I understand there is a store close by)

How much am I looking at for food? Just me and my DS (12)

I figure if we arrive in the am on the 19th--We can hang out at the hotel and check of DCA. I know we will have to go back to DCA for more. But do you think I can do DCA and DL and one of the Tours. Not sure when or if we will make it back to CA anytime soon.

Thanks

Breakfast at the Candy Cane Inn should be enough to get you going in the morning. You could do a noonish lunch then maybe just snack for dinner (hotdogs/corndogs from the various carts). You could also do a character buffet breakfast, snack for lunch, and eat a early dinner (4:00 pm so you still get the lunch prices). If you do a search for DL resturants you can get some menu's with prices to get an idea of the food budget. Some meals are big enough to split, if you both have the same taste.

I think 2-3 days at DL and 1 day at DCA should be enough to see everything. So if you want to do a tour you should have plenty of time. Maybe schedule the tour on a Saturday (if you will be there that day) to miss the crowds.

If you plan on getting to DL early I would suggest heading back to the Hotel for an afternoon swim/nap, then going back to the parks in the late afternoon.

DL does not have a water park, but Knott's Berry Farm does have one. It isn't too far from DL. You could do a search to find more info on it.

Have fun planning.

Universal is fun - haven't been inyears mind you, but it's still centered mainly around the tour, i understand (like MGM was when it opened). Much more like MGM than Universal Florida in terms of things to do, I'd say.

Your son might like Legoland too (hard to say - 12 is just on the border!) Mouseplanet has a good Legoland page (better than the park's official site). It's an easy drive diown the coast - about an hour or so.

You might want to keep an eye out for what's playing at the El Capitan. Disney owns it and does special events there all the trime. It's right in the heart of Hollywood. http://cms.disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/

I'm sure you'll have a great time! We are going back in November '03!

Maybe I'll bump into you at the Brat Stop or Maders sometime. I would say something about your Packers, but after that Monday night, I can't.

Congrats!!! I just got back and Oct is a great month to visit - hopefully I'll be back then too for my 2 yr anniversary!!! :p

Well dang, I tried to respond to this earlier but the boards were having "technical difficulty" and I guess it didn't stick. So here goes it again.

I have always been too busy with Disneyland/DCA to do any tours, so can't help there.

Soak City, will be closed in October, it has very limited operation, Mid-June thru Labor Day (or something like that). This is the only water park that I know of in the area.

Disneyland will take 2 - 3 days, DCA 1 - 2. So plan on at least 3 - 4 days at the resort.

As far as food, if you are eating breakfast at the hotel and food inside the parks for lunch and dinner, I would plan on $50-$75 per day, this of course includes snacks and beverages/water/soda.
