So, I have been engaged for a while. My fiance and I have decided that next year in March we will have our wedding. However, there is a problem to this. I have decided on a garden party that is influenced by a vintage 1920s look and I am still deciding on colors, I am thinking of a pale almost a grayish green with lavender but still open to other colors, any suggestions?

What venues are you looking at for your reception? I think that would definitely impact the color scheme. Are you getting married at WDW or having a wedding at home?

I live in California so it would make sense to marry at Disneyland, but to be honest I don't think Disney is really in the plan (except for my Honeymoon of course at WDW) but I was thinking Castle Green in Pasadena or The Victorian in downtown Los Angeles.

Both of those venues look beautiful. I was also married in March (3/3) and did a pastel color scheme. Here is a neat tool (although there aren't a ton of colors where you can drag color swatches next to each other http://www.blissweddings.com/wedding-color-palette/ I think a soft pink or another pastel would be pretty with it too. I know I totally obsessed over a theme at first and then ended up just picking all the different items I liked and everything eventually came together :goodvibes

We had a Hollywood theme to our at-home reception and I love the idea of adding a vintage feel to it. Are you going to go that direction with your dress too?

:cool1: for the Disneymoon. Do you know where you want to stay? Have you been to WDW before?

Thank you for the link, I am having a good time mixing colors together. I am thinking for the dress to have a vintage look so it will be slightly form-fitting. I remember watching Sex and the City where Charlotte got married the second time and her dress reminds me a lot of that old vintage look so I may go for something like that.

I am thinking for the WDW, perhaps staying at the Port Orleans Riverside, I have never been there before but have been to Disneyland plenty of times so going on this honeymoon will be a new experience. We may do the Disney cruise added or just put that part off until our anniversary. I am thinking for bridesmaid dresses a cross between the lacy late 1910s-early 1920 with Japenese paper umbrellas and simple flowers.

That type of dress would be perfect for your venues and the feel you're trying to go for in the wedding :bride: Have you started shopping yet? Dress shopping is very exciting, but can also be very overwhelming.

For the parasols you should check out this web site: http://www.asianideas.com/ I used them for my wedding (one of my signature pictures shows our parasols) and they were really reasonable priced. Although, I am sure in LA you could probably get them locally a lot easier than I could here in MI.

Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite resort, we stay there on most trips. It is a great place to stay, but because of its size you should definitely request a certain building depending on what you want to be close to during your stay. The mansion are more romantic and secluded, but you can still get one close to a bus stop. We usually request Alligator Bayou buildings 14 or 15 because we like to be closer to the main building with the food court and restaurant plus it is close to the first bus stop. Another great thing about the hotel are all the pools spread throughout the resort.

I couldn't help it, I looked into a Disney wedding here in California and..I think I may be leaning towards one. I am still keeping my options open, just enjoying time being engaged but I am starting to lean towards a Disney wedding after all. If not then it will most likely be at the Castle Green. I didn't know there were so many options of where to get married! My fiance and I will be planning this mostly on our own but my mother is positively giddy and I am happy I can finally peruse wedding magazines without feeling odd about it.

I went on that link you sent and there is the most adorable mint umbrella that I think will look great and those fans on that link gave me a great idea to throw a sort of Bridesmaid tea party and have those fans set on the table with some delicate roses on the side. Thanks!

I am still looking at dresses and talked it over with a few friends, I am going to bring a picture of the Charlotte dress just for some ideas but also try some styles out too. Although everything is kind of low key, the way things are getting my apartment may be "Wedding Headquarters" ;)

I LOVE The Victorian! That was on my short list when we were looking at getting married in Southern California. I think your plans so far sound beautiful.

How cool about checking into some of the Disneyland options. There are several brides I know on another board www.disneybrides.com who are planning Disneyland weddings. There are probably some on the Dis too, but I can't think of any that I know of off hand.

A tea party is a lot of fun. We had one at the GF Gardenview Tea Room and all of the ladies loved it, we even wore big hats for the occasion :goodvibes

I totally know what you mean about your home becoming wedding HQ, I know the items from our wedding totally took over and many things remain spread throughout the house now :rotfl:

Update!

We got in for a Disneyland Hotel wedding and I am excited! The ceremony will be at the Rose Garden Gazebo and the reception at the Magic Ballroom. I am kind of nervous about things now but I intend on having some fun during this wedding and try not to stress out so bad. Right now the problem is to fit the theme I have in mind with the whole Disney experience. My fiance is going to help out (well, as much as he can) so we can add our own personal touches to the wedding.

Congratulations! Welcome to a fellow Disney bride :bride::groom: I know that Disney is willing to help you create any vision that you have for your wedding into things. I have seen several reports on weddings at the Rose Garden Gazebo and they were beautiful.

The most important thing is to relax and enjoy the planning as much as possible. I know during our planning we had a lot of lifes unexpected twists (not related to the wedding) and turns hit us, but in the end our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more.

I am going to PM you a few links to Disneyland brides that might be helpful for your planning.

Your plans sounds lovely, can't wait to see more of your planning posts. I've never been to Disneyland so now I will have to go and check out your sites!

Have fun with it all.

Judi

I'm also looking at a disneyland wedding, and the victorian was on my list too!I can't wait to read your reports!
