1 year old phone - First it was the phone jack, kept slipping out. - New Jack, $11.00

3 - year old Magtag -Dishwasher didn't clean dishes-$30 for Lloyd the appliance guy to clean bottom pad we missed when we cleaned the gunk out. (Don't use gel-soap, Cascade he said).

10 year old Admiral Slide in Stove - replaced elements twice on it, husband stood on glass top and cracked it, (when he was changing light bulbs in our recess lighting in our kitchen, cost $225 to replace, (that was 5 years ago.) Now it is beeping F1-mother board is out $165 for mother board and $15 labor. (Lloyd the appliance guy, told us not to stick anymore money in it).

11 year old Kenmore Side-by-side refrigerator, Freezer working, but not refrigerator side. Sears cannot come out till Tuesday, so I am calling Lloyd the appliance guy.

I was told stoves only last 8-14 years,
refrigerator's same thing.

My fridge is being replaced after only 6 years! I had it repaired and its not working again! Freezer works but refrigerator doesn't.
I won't buy another Frigidaire!!!

OhMari--we just got our new Kenmore stove delivered Tuesday. I had a Magic Chef and the one burner ignitor was taking a dump. We replaced to main ignitor in the over about 4 months ago. Periodically we could smell gas while walking by it. DH told me to just get a new stove. I really like this one. It is a Kenmore ultra Bake. Has the power burner and a simmer burner. Also has the warming drawer. I really wanted that Maytag Gemini, but the burners sat on top of eachother. We tend to use bigger pans and that would make for tight space. I think the new stove was around $800. The sales lady at Sears mentioned that stoves last around 10 years, so we were due since the old one was bought 5/92.

Knock on wood ours have lasted a long long time with 7 of us.....the Mom's fridge gave out after only 6 years! Ours is still ticking after 9 years! We do know that when it goes.....they will all go. The Law of Appliances God told me that and never ever go against the LAG or the tag fairies! :p

I just don't get the law of appliances, why can I use the stove, but the mother board is saying something is wrong. When the heating element broke in 2, it didn't flash F1 for something is wrong.

The refrigerator, why does the freezer work, but not the refrigerator-we have a Kenmore-what manufacturer makes them?

Oh that is so true. About two years ago, we went through that. Everything went, microwave, burner on the stove, toilet, etc. It got to the point I would leave DH a message saying "guess what else broke today!". Isn't there some kind of rule that you should get a new bridal shower every so often.;) I sure could use some new appliances!

Sears Kenmore has been very disappointing for me. My mom had the same Kenmore washer and dryer for more than 20 years and never needed a single repair. I bought my set in 1996. Last year the washer motor died. That was $300! Now the dryer is dead. I'm sitting here right now waiting for the Sears repairman. I could see this sort of problem if we did a lot of laundry, but we don't have any kids. We run 4 to 5 (medium) loads per week at the most.
