My DD who has acute anxiety disorder started walking to school on her own yesterday which was a massive step. She leaves school 10 minutes early every day to avoid the crowds.
Today she was mugged on her way home from school. She is only 12 for god's sake!
Two teenage boys snatched her phone from her. She begged for it back and they were aggressive towards her. A member of the public found her and called the police.
I am so angry. I can't imagine how this is going to affect her and what impact it will have on her anxiety. I just want to bury my head and cry.

Wish I could say something helpful - I share your anger. My daughter is the same age and I too would be distraught if this happened to her (and she doesn't suffer from anxiety). I am glad she was found and helped by a passerby - there is good in the world but sometimes it seems you have to look hard for it.
If it happened to me it would have almost definately made my anxiety worse. I have to admit support from my parents and the school has helped, so make sure the school is working with you.

Off to see my Mum tomorrow.
Please assure her they are the minority and there are so many lovely people in the world
